I'm looking forward to checking out your new hero files.

I like your choices in character powers.

Thanks guys!
I just installed FFX3.2 (yes just)  and by the looks of it, i have a lot of tweeking to do now!

JK, I enjoyed playing around with your Nextwave characters (I read the series as well ),  But the only problem i had when I made the hero files is that the Captain didnt have any kicking keyframes so he could .....Kick things!!

Ha! Good point. Most male_basic type keyframes should work, so you can substitute something more kick-y.

Hi USAgent,

I just dropped your hero files into location and then went to use Alex's EZHero to update mesh locations to my own meshes.  When I try to do so I get "Run-time error '52': Bad file name or number" and EZHero crashes to the desktop.  This happens with every hero file.  Have you seen or heard of this before?  I do not have FFvTTR installed in the usual C:\ location, if that's significant...

Yeah, Ive never heard of Alex's ez hero to work for the new game, most of us use MrBrdo's hero editor, I got the same run time error when I tried to use Alex's too, but then again I tried it when I used to have the game installed in my E drive.......

i only really use Alex's hero editor for writing to the characters.dat file,  i don't believe Mr. Brdo's can do that.

I'm working on a Marvel built-ins mod, along with a couple other EZScript mods, and assumed from what I'd read that EZHero was often being used to go from Hero files to dat.  I also wanted to browse through USAgent's hero files and see what someone else had done with the same characters.

Hmmmm...this brings up two new questions: where does one get MrBrdo's editor, and how do you use Alex's to output to dat if it won't open the files?

i'd like to second the reqeust for mrbdos editor.
and also, is it possible to easily list all the meshes you use?

Sorry death, i forgot to answer your question to the location of Mrbrodo's hero tool.
And Bearded, off hand I cant think of any way to complie a list of the meshes I use for my hero files, I now have 1,700 of them, and that would be quite a task, but what most people can do is open up a hero file with hero file editor and check out what mesh is being used.

i'm good on the list now, my panic was due to alex's not working, but mrbrdo's does work, so i'm ok.  that's a lot of hero files.

Hey USAgent ... do you do hero files on request? BTW, i find your files invaluable for playing FF ... I barely ever get the time or access to the comic resources to fine tune my hero files.

I need a Achilles (marvel) hero file - cant find stats for this loser anywhere - whenever i get stuck making a file I ussually refer to yours or tasks heroes for referance

i've not used hero files a lot, so i think i might be missing something.
is there an easy way to tell what skins to use?  or where to get them from?  meshes also in some cases.  mrbrdo's doesn't show which skin is used, even the name of it.
for example, human_robot_t mesh.  i assume it's one of tommyboys?
i know!  usagent should upload his entire custom characters folder somewhere, right?  maybe yahoo...

I second the mesh list request. It doesn't even need to be a complete list, USAgent. You could write a partial list, upload it on you Yahoo! Groups and update it once in a while just like you update your other stuff.

I do believe that was Taskmaster's hero files for FF1 that listed the meshes used.

As for making any kind of list for each mesh and skin that pertained to my hero files plus the location of them, that would take a ungodly amount of time, not to mention a large number of the meshes and skins are no longer available online anywhere.  Sorry guys but that would not be something I would like to tackle anytime soon, not to mention how excruciating unenjoyable that would be...ug.
With the hero editors you dont have to use the exact same meshes/skins I'm using, just open up the hero file and point it to the mesh/skin that your using of that perticular character then edit it in game to match up the animations better.

One thing I am willing to do though is I will email anybody any mesh/skin that they need that pertain to my hero files, so if you see a hero file of mine that you dont have any meshes or skins for or dont want to search for, just pop me a PM of any characters that you guys need, and I will have no problem sending them to you guys.

Thanks for all the kinds words too guys! Im glad I can help with what ever I can.

Compare to most other hero files I see, mine are on the weaker side i think, I feel any damage 20 pts and up should be used only for Hulk/Superman/Doomsday/Thor types, but not too much over 20 (I think my darkseid and Thanos have a 45 point attack) And I am not a big fan of the invunerable attribute, I think I only used invunerable over 10 on a few characters (Doomsday, Ultron, Juggernaut) And I dont think I have anybody at 20 invunerable.  Even though that might not be accurate according to the comics, I like to make my files as accurate as can be but also I keep in mind that this a video game that should be enjoyable to play.  To me it isnt fun to have a character with 50 invunerable points and having only a couple characters out of my entire collection be able to damage them.
True Captain America cant harm Ultron at all with any of his attacks in the comics, but with my files Cap would cause 1-3 points of damage each hit, certainly not enough to defeat him, but with sheer numbers enough street level characters would eventually ware Ultron down, but if I had his invunerable at 50, why even fight him with anybody but a very angry Hulk?   ah well...I guess that was a little rant...

Anyway, if anybody was interested on how I actually make my hero files, here is my usual process if I dont know anything about the character:
-First I do a general search of the chararacter on Yahoo and gather up all the main sites that have info on them and make a base hero file off them. I like to find RPG stats for them so I can get the type and amount of damage as close as I can plus I can get a idea of the name of the attacks, but if I dont find any, I take a best guess.
-Then I do a search of what comic issues those characters were in and actually download that issue (which I dont condone) After reading some issues I get a better idea of the amount of damage attacks should be plus seeing them in action I can pick a FX that best matches their attacks in the comic.
-then I take them in the danger room and pit them against characters who they were fighting with in the comics and tweek them until I'm happy.

Hey Jakew,
The Shroud is already done, he is placed with the "nightshift" group, His hero file is called "Nightshift shroud", also done are mv-baron mordru, Ronan the accusser- which I placed him in his former group "Starforce Accusser", mv-Vermin, and DCH-swampthing.

Ill work on the other ones for you though, but i may need info on where to find a mesh/skin for Rising Sun, Bulleteer (same as bulletman?), Floronicman, iron munro, taratula. I dont have those in my collection I dont think.

edit:  After searching through my collection I will need Rising Sun, Bulleteer, Iron Munro, OMAC (new version), Mr. Terrific II, and Blackheart

Agent, I've just downloaded your hero files and I can't wait to play them.

Thing is, I don't have nearly enough meshes to encompass all of the files you have. I know when TaskmasterX was doing hero files, he put out a list of all the required meshes for them, to help his collectors easily gather all the necessary stuff to really enjoy the hero files. Could you do something like that pleeease  :D
Title: Re: USAgent's hero files
Post by: USAgent on June 16, 2007, 07:02:12 PM
Actually that would probably take a little too much time to track down almost 2,000 meshes/hexes/skins.  That is something I should started from the begining but I never thought of it.
But what I can do which I have done for everyone is, you can PM me any hero files you might need meshes for and I will zip up what I have and just send them to you, which would be probably easier for both of us since alot of the older meshes that my hero files use are no longer hosted anywhere.  So just drop me a PM of what ever you need, be it a bunch of small requests when ever you come across something you need or a gigantic list of stuff you need and I will eventually get everything to you.
One other thing you can do is use a hero editor to assign my hero files to what ever mesh you do have of that character.

A little update

I had forgotten that I had done some new hero files awhile ago and never uploaded them, some are just updated hero files to match new meshes but most are new hero files.  Here is the list:

Avengers:
Ares, Captain America, Hellcat, USAgent

DC heroes:
Bulleteer, Commander Steel, Iron Munro, Mr Terrific 2, Rising Sun, Shining Knight,
Tarantula, Zantanna

DC villains:
Black Hand, Despero, Doctor Light, Evil Star, Floronic man, Gentleman Ghost,
Major Force, OMAC, Prometheus

Defenders:
Andromeda, Angel, Beast, Devil-Slayer, Dr. Strange, Gargoyle, Hellcat, Hulk,
Ice-man, Moondragon, Namor, Nighthawk, Silver Surfer, Valkyrie

Invaders Cap America

Metal Men- Gold, Iron, Lead, Mercury, Platinum, Tin

Marvel Heroes:
Red Raven, Super Patriot, Ultimate Nick Fury

Wrecking Crew Excavator

Some of the DC heroes belong in actual teams (Shining knight, Bulleteer, Zantanna, Rising Sun) but I havnt gotten around to making their full teams yet.  And the Cap America's and USAgent are hero files for new meshes with new animations and different attacks.  I actually updated alot of my older hero files that I didnt list, I'm always tweeking powers here or there, or add a attribute if I find out about a ability I didnt know they had, or increase or decrease a magnitude. Another thing I have been doing is using NIF Scope to add contacts to melee animations that normally didnt have a multi contact keyframe (Like My Hellcat's Hellcat69 mesh)
One more thing that I have been doing to all my hero files is changing the M25 AI py. file for the characters that have active defences. I have been removing the "reserve energy" that the AI generator gives characters with Active defences.  I've been seeing characters stand around a little too much waiting for the energy to recover to what ever reserve energy is needed only to power up their active defence again.

Hey USAgent, my cousin (Cyber Burn) was bugging me for hero files to go along with everything else I had sent him, but I kind of slacked in that department, I always used yours.   If you take requests, would you be able to make some hero files for the original JSA characters.   It would get him off my case, and I would really owe you one.   I should never have gotten him addicted to FF, he calls me more now than he has his whole life  :banghead:.   But, like I said, it would let me get back to focusing on RL, and I know he would appreciate it.   Thanks.

I plan on doing all the Global Guardians, I just gotta make sure I have all that were made, Werewolf by night is done, I have him grouped in with the Night Shift, he probably needs updated and more thought out though.   As for the Timm verse, I dont really follow anything from that continuity so I wasnt planning on making any hero files for those characters.

The Young Avengers have been done and in my hero files for awhile, I am sure I dont have any Young Justice skins/meshes in my collection, so it will be awhile until I can find those and make up some hero files for them.

Captain Nazi

I think that's it. I would totally appreciate it if you could.  Thanks.

I started with the 50's Avengers.  Do you have hero files for either Namora or Venus?
and,
If I want to use a different mesh than the one that you use in your file, how do I switch and still use your file?
thanks, BS

Hey Blazing, welcome back!
I dont have any hero files for Namora or Venus only because I dont know of any skin/mesh for them.  If you do I would love to have them so I could complete the group.
And as for switching meshes to what you want to use, I'm not sure how long you have been gone but Alex released his new EZhero editor which is great!   There as a few bugs in it though, but its still gets the job done for what you want.

Updated new hero files.

Here is the latest batch of hero files I have been working on- 112 of them

And I just realized something, out of all the hero files I released, I never added any files to let anyone know what state swaps or any FFX customizations I have been using for my hero files, so there are some attacks and such that just dont make sense.  Hopefully if you are using my Hero files that use state swaps, you can figure out what swap is needed and such.

A-next Mainframe - I seemed to have forgot him when I did the A-next

Avengers Hank Pym - updated to Tommy's new mesh with new attacks

B.U.C.K.I.E.S
Hoskins, Johnson, Lennox

Fantastic 4
Invisable Woman, Mr. Fantastic - updated to new mesh for Sue and Tommy's mesh for Reed

Marvel heroes:
Amanda Sefton, Arana, Captain Britain(original costume), Lightwave, Mr.M, Nova(Nova Force),
Nova corpsman, Sentry -revamped hero file, Spidey-captain Universe, Thor, World War Hulk - with Thor all I did was take my Avenger Thor hero file and switch over to the new Thor look (Thor_Coipel mesh and skin)

Eternals:
Phastos

Marvel Villains:
Arcade -new scoped mesh with new attacks, Defiler, Goldbug, Hood, Humbug, Russian, Steelwind, Viper III, Vulcan, Zaladane

Ultimates:
Black Panther, Black Widow, Captain America, Giant-man, Nick Fury, Thor, Wasp

Supreme Power:
Amphibian, Arcanna, Blur, Hyperion, Inertia, Nighthawk, Dr. Spectrum, Zarda

Marauders: Riptide - new mesh/skin/hex with revamped hero file

Skeleton Crew:
Blackwing, Cutthroat - new meshes, revamped hero files

Soviets:
Perun

X-men Classic:
Angel, Beast, Cyclops, Ice-man, Marvel girl, Professor X  - I had to put C6's classic X-men skins to use- weaker less experianced version of the X-men

X-men:
Cecelia Reyes

X-Force:
Warpath (Blades)  - added him to go along with his new version and Syn's skin/mesh

New X-men:
Angel, Armor, Dryad, Dust, Elixir, Hellion, Mercury, Pixie, Preview, Rockslide,
Surge, Trance, Wind Dancer

X-statix:
Vivisector -seemed to have forgot him with my old X-statix hero files

Golden age:
Black Terror, Daredevil, Dynamic man, Target, Targeteers 1&2 - I used to stick with only Marvel/Timley Golden age characters, but there is too many interesting characters and the skins/meshes are too good

Green Lantern corps:
Tagort, Sodam Yat - a couple stragglers that got left out of the last GLC hero files

DC heroes:
Huntress, Kingdom come Superman, Rorschach

DC villians:
Ares, Batzarro, Brimstone - new mesh and revamped hero file , Bug eyed bandit, Captain Boomerang jr, Catwoman, Cluemaster,
Cyclotron, Deathbolt, Giganta, Gog, Heatwave, Lobo, Superman earth 10, Superman Red Son

Teen Titans:
Cyborg - forgot about him!

Sinistro Corps:
Amon Sur, Arkillo, Bribon, Cyborg Superman, Dedecus, Karu-sil, Malum, Mauvais, Metus,
Mideo, Periculum, Sinistro, Tueur, Vroceus  - a number of these Sinsitro Corp members were made up characters that wern't actually in the comics, but Murs47 did such a awsome job on them that they are officially DC chcracters in my book! I gave them unique abilities based on their looks.

They should be all uploaded in my hero file yahoo group

Cool!

Probably an easy question but how do make your character names so long? Like "Avengers - Black Panther", and so forth?

One thing I want to point out, MVP and the Scarlet Spiders should have the same stats. They're the same person essentially. The difference is the suit and some programmed skills in the Spiders. So I'd keep the strenght the same.

Also a suggestion for the Spiders, maybe try a private army type attribute. They work as a single unit so that might be a good way to use them.

Also for Trauma a power that cures panic might be good. That's how he ultimately is using his power.

On Phyla she shouldn't have cosmic awareness as Quasar. She lost that ability with the bands.

Great to see new hero files (especially characters I've skinned )

For the Scarlet Spiders stats I went with the stats found here http://www.angelfire.com/comics/benriely/scarletspiders.html which states that the "scarlet spider armor" increases the stats of the user which included strength.  I still lean on the old Marvel RPG stats if I can find them for reference.  I know that those stats on that page are just one guys opinion but it is "armor" which should increase their strength over "peak human".  But on that note I do read the Avengers Ininitive and I have never seen them use any super feets of strength yet.    As for Private army, are you saying to give "private army" to one scarlet spider and make his army set to the other scarlet spiders?  I know that they work as a unit, but don't they have individual thoughts?
Trauma is just a tough character to translate to FF, but I forgot that he can cure panic along with causing someones panics to manifest.
Ya know, if ya just would of included hero files with these skins............. :D
And I had no idea that Phyla lost her cosmic awarness ability, I thought the bands are what gave the users cosmic awarness.

As for making the names longer, I use hero editors for that Jake.

Yeah I'd drop the extra strength. I've never seen them do anything or heard anything about them having extra strength. Unless that was mentioned about the armor when Peter had it. But the Spiders do have a different armor from Pete's.
The higher agility is explained by the programed skills, and the armor provides the higher endurance. Just the strength bugs me.

Private army is just an idea. They all have separate but linked minds. They tend to finish each other sentences and tend to stick together so I thought it might be a neat idea.

Yeah I got to get back to doing hero files again.

I ended up dropping their strength to my MVP's hero file strength (4), which still may be high for them and MVP, there more like a 3.5.  But I did keep the damage of the standard melee attacks medium (10) compaired to MVP's (7 or 8).

I'm still trying to figure out what power to give Trauma to represent his fear removal ability.  There is Rally which removes panic but adds combat bonus and mental resistance which isnt quite right, then there is Cerebral balance which removes mental but also mystical states which I could just wimg it and give him anyway.

And you were right about Phyla not having Cosmic Awareness, that isn't even a power listed for the Quantum bands but strictly a Nega bands power.  I thought Quasar (Wendall) had it but I guess not.  Since I didnt want to leave a blank hole in that attribute spot I gave her "tracker" to simulate the bands ability to track energy signatures.

Thanks for the help on these guys!

Well MVP (and his clones) should have Captain America like attributes minus maturity and experience.
The Spiders are better trained and have the suit so a higher melee is fine.

Trauma is really impossible to create a proper hero file for.
