Title: Movie Making help needed! (cross posted)
Post by: Mr. Hamrick on November 25, 2008, 08:41:56 AM
Okay, it could argued (and I am betting it will be argued) that I should post this in either the "Film, Television, Video, and Music" forum or the fan fiction forum.  I probably will cross post this in the "Film section"  Given the strange circumstances of all of this (and the fact that its a bit of ranting on my part), I figured that I would post it here first.  Here's the situation:

I have been working on three different scripts for a while now.  In addition to this, I have been involved with at least three different productions over the past two months in various capacities.  Things are not going as well as I hoped but things could be worse too.  I've gotten two business related calls this morning.  One was a telephone interview for a production company that currently is developing some content for television.   The other is from a business partner of mine about a project that she REALLY wants to do.  Add two more projects to the list IF I get the job with the production company.  I am heading in for an interview next week.

So here is the help I need from you all.  I am not asking any one person.  I am asking the ENTIRE community to partake in this venture.

My partner, Ondie Daniel, wants to do a "vampire film" of some sort.  We have a deadline.  We want the project to be out by next October.  Why?  Not simply for Halloween but because Netherworld Haunted House in Atlanta will be doing some sort of "vampire theme" next year.  Ondie is heavily involved with Netherworld and has been for a number of years.  One of the ideas we had was to release the DVD at Netherworld but there is also the possibility of submitting it to a few other film festival outlets.  I am sure there are some horror film festivals out there.  We need a good script.   I mean really good.   :)    I wanted to enlist the aid of the community in developing the script in the coming weeks.  BUT WAIT, I AM NOT STOPPING THERE.

I know we have a handful of burgeoning filmmakers, artists, and writers here in the community.  We also have some guy who owns his own comic company. (Hi Zapow!)  I was pondering setting up something where the FR community members who are interested could be involved with the development of some film projects.  The members who contribute would get full credit and if there is money from the project there would be some sort of small compensation to be figured out later.  This is an idea that I am toying around with, mind you, but one I feel is worthy of being developed.

IS ANYONE INTERESTED??

BETTER YET, COULD SOMEONE HELP ME SET UP A FORUM OFF SITE TO ACCOMMODATE THIS.  I ask this because as far as I can tell, the program that this board is not Mac Compatible.

Hope to get some feedback from you all.  Thanks.

I'll donate webspace if you need it, once I get some issues sorted out, but you'll have to provide your own url if you don't want a freedomforceforever.com address.

I might pitch some ideas if I think of any, but there are some very talented community members who could do you much better, I am sure.

I have a web address set up under Bluehost which is www.garyhamrick.com  and I am sure I can create a subdomain for the site.  At this point its a matter of knowing how to set up the thing.

Will that help?

I'm afraid I can't help you with actually forum setup; just offering the webspace in case you needed it, which you apparently don't.  I suppose that's one thing that I really ought to learn.

I'd be happy to donate what script writing skills and creative juices I have to the cause...

My file cabnet near my desk here is overflowing with movie ideas and story boards that I've doodled around with since I was in college but they had no real chance of seeing the light of day outside of a few that I'm saving for comic book projects of my own...

So consider my hat thrown into the ring if you need it.

Consider it added, CQ.

if the mods and admins were willing, we could use the "Events" forum for planning until we get something off-site set up.

Unfortunately crewing experience isn't very helpful when you don't live anywhere near a project.

Although you did remind me that I should get a couple things ready soon so that I can sumbit a film of my own to a local festival, so thank you.

I wish you good luck with this though, and if you can show us a finished project later I'd sure like to see what comes out of it.

Unko, I don't know where local festival offhand it but I can get you the info on the Atlanta Film Festival if you want.  The early bird submission has past but the other is coming up soon.  And the only thing we need at the moment are scripts.
