Pyroclasm

Hi there!

Some people have requested that I run some Artistic Challenges involving forum avatars.  Previous challenges I've run that involved avatars usually ended up with the same batch of avatars being nominated and on the rare occasion, someone had expressed discontent with their "likeness" being used without permission.  Out of respect for everyone's personal IP and in an attempt to make the distribution fair, I've decided to create this thread.  This will allow me to randomly assign avatars from those that have applied.  I've posted this in General Discussion to increase visibility to forum members who don't normally frequent the Artist's Alley.  For those unaware, the Artistic Challenges give forum artists randomized assignments in order to push the creative envelope.  Characters assigned in the challenges may end up redesigned or otherwise manipulated.

If you would like to allow people to use your avatar in the Artistic Challenges and the resultant fan fiction, this would be the place to post this.  Please note this is for current avatars only.  Please don't add entries for other miscellaneous characters you've created or previous avatars you've used.  If you change your avatar, update your post rather than add a new one.

For you to be considered for any of the artistic challenges, your post needs to include the following information:
HERO NAME: Your character's hero name. i.e. codename, handle, etc.
IDENTITY NAME: Your character's "secret" identity. i.e.what she might be called when she is in plain clothes.
HERO TYPE: The source of the character's power. Altered Human, Robot, Mutant, Magic, Hi-Tech, Alien, Advanced Training, etc. (or combinations too)  In RPG terms, it is like your "class".  In CoH & MSH it is called "Origin".
ORIGIN: A brief description of how the character came to be.
POWERS: A brief listing of the character's powers.
LINK: Finally, you need have a good image of your character.  Multiple images are fine.  (If your image is big, or you have multiples, please make use of the "spoiler" tags, or make it a link.)  Just having a description doesn't qualify.

edit: Tried to clarify the subjects since several people did not understand what was being asked.

Pyroclasm

HERO NAME: Pyroclasm
IDENTITY NAME: Bamphalas Drax
HERO TYPE: Magic/Alien (Half-Dragon Sorcerer)
ORIGIN: Born a half-elf with dragon blood, Bamphalas always had an affinity for fire magic.  He travelled to this world via a portal.  During a battle with an enemy, he was killed.  During his cremation, his powers kicked into overdrive, strengthening him and mutating him into the half-dragon he is today.  He is considered a villain by the general populace.
POWERS: Fire Manipulation, Super Strength, Superhuman Toughness/Endurance, Flight.  Fire makes him stronger.  Weakness to Cold.

captainspud

HERO NAME: Captain Spud
SECRET IDENTITY: Buff Studman
HERO TYPE: Over-the-top heroic
ORIGIN: One day, while trying on pants at Sears, Buff Studman was struck by a bolt of incredible energy! He blames it on the AC... or leprechauns.

Staggering outside, he was spotted by a pair of muggers, who demanded his wallet. Taking charge of the situation, Buff ran away like the coward his mother raised him to be. The muggers gave chase, pursuing him for several blocks into a produce market. Still dazed by the strange magical bolt, Buff collided with a stand of potatoes, and was buried in them. A lesser man would have been crushed, but Buff magically drained the vegetables of their Potatian Energy, gaining the proportional strength, speed, endurance, invulnerability, flight speed, and energy projection abilities of ten thousand potatoes. He used this power to become... CAPTAIN SPUD!

And to beat the living crap out of the muggers.

POWERS: Captain Spud has the proportional strength, speed, endurance, invulnerability, flight speed, and energy projection abilities of ten thousand potatoes. He has one weakness, which has fortunately never been discovered by his enemies.

UnfluffyBunny

(longer post than I wanted but his needed to write more in reference to body posession)

HERO NAME: Syn / Synthos
IDENTITY NAME: Synth.O.S. IV
HERO TYPE: Technological
ORIGIN: Synth.O.S. IV was the fourth experiment to creats a "synthetic organic synapse" Tho an unpredicted event caused the experiment become self aware, the experiment discovered it was able to "leech" onto hosts and take them over, while doing so the body's full potential becomes physically unlocked, allowing the controlled host body to reach conditions above peak human, this also provides an array on telepathic / telekinetic abilites, tho an unconditioned body being pushed to full capacity will burn out and die within 4 hours, this situation gave "synthos" an extreme superiority complex, where some see him as a psychic parasite, he see's himself as a god  and humans as mere cattle.

POWERS: Telekenisis, Mind control (can only affect those of a weaker mental disposition), extra sensory perception and telepathy, in the uses of communicating with others, probing minds, or being able to observe what another person is experiencing (sights, sounds, taste etc, can backfire into feeling targets pain), all telepathic powers induce mild headaches in the targets, and will be noticed by people with a higher mental disposition.
In his native state, Synthos has no predetermined appearance, tho is only visable to those with base telepathic attunements, while controlling a host body he may become reckless and will only feel minimal pain due to mental blocking, although while the host survives they experience everything that happens.
Although Syn could jump into any living body, by preparing hosts specificly he can slow the burn out cycle.

[added section here to help explain the character better]
Synthos was created for the twilight project alternate universe, as the big bad evil, he had an army of mind controlled slaves at his command and encase the whole of england in a single building complex which acted as his base of operations.

(I only seem to have chibi images to hand....)

[edit: added the cool micro by Juancho]

Verfall

HERO NAME: Verfall

IDENTITY NAME: Unknown

HERO TYPE: Altered Human

ORIGIN: Standing outside a movie theatre, was hit by 2 barrels of chemicals that fell out of the back of a truck being pursued by police. The chemical composition caused his body to expand in size to almost 8 feet tall and over 600 pounds. It also left him scarred from the shrapnel of the barrels and the glass from a nearby bus stop that collided with hitting him before his healing factor was active. It would take weeks before he could control the power to its current armored and blood spiked form.

POWERS: Able to exude large amounts of his own blood, and use them to form any shape he can imagine, from maces and axes to even blood shooting shotguns. His only limits are size, originality and the laws of physics. His black armor is diamond hard. Anything that does get through his blood will proceed to heal as fast as possible. Even disintegrated, his cell structure will slowly pull itself together over a period of months. His blood has an incredibly high survival instinct, and can function even when his own mind is unconcious to keep itself together. He is roughly strong enough to lift and throw an average car. His regeneration is incredible, but DNA tests show that he is no longer actually human, the chemicals having altered him into a new form of homo sapien.
When he crys, blood pours, when he sweats, it's blood, he literally bleeds all the time and has to mentally control it to keep his very pores from bleeding. His eyes are always blood shot when not covered by his armor.

Alaric

Okay, currently, and subject to change as I get other ideas...

HERO NAME: The Verdant Vowel
IDENTITY NAME: Al (last name unrevealed)
HERO TYPE: Vowelish (er, "non-powered hero", I guess...) EDIT: The Vowel would probably fall somewhere between "Normal Human" and "Trained Human".
ORIGIN: Al was an out-of-work actor who originally developed his "Verdant Vowel" identity for a public television children's show he was going to audition for. Before he could audition, he found himself having to play the part for real, and has continued to do so in order to help those in need, despite the damage his other identity does to his attempts to find regular work. The origins of the Vowel's shiny green "A" emblem are currently unrevealed.
POWERS: The Verdant Vowel is the very embodiment of vowelish might! Why, surely no evil-doers could long stand before... er, that is... uh... Technically, the Vowel has no powers, although you'd never be able to get him to admit that. He's a good actor, and overall performer, and he uses his over-the-top Verdant Vowel persona to a) bluff his enemies into thinking he's more powerful then he is, and/or b) trick his enemies into thinking he's more incompetant, and less sane, than he is. Unfortunately, he sometimes gets a little carried away, a little too into his role, and forgets that it's just a part he's playing... When he's not getting carried away, the Vowel can be surprisingly clever and resourceful. He can also be surprisingly dedicated, courageous, and strong-willed, when circumstances demand it.  He's also physically above average, and has some knowledge of various skills, including acrobatics and hand-to-hand combat, picked up for various roles he's tried out for. Note that he's not an expert, by any means, at any of these things, but he is generally better at them than an average person. Also, being somethign of a "comic relief"-type character, he has a certain amount of "dumb luck", good and bad (but generally helping his heroic efforts more than hindering them, in the long run). For inexplicable reasons, it's virtually impossible for anyone to figure out his secret identity, no matter how obvious it should be. He also wears a shiny green capitol "A" of unknown origin on his chest, which may be reflective enough to deflect laser beams, and also may (or may not) be bullet-proof. He can, under certain circumstances, create spots of reflected light on surfaces with this "A", and individuals with certain personality types can be distracted, or even almost hynotized, be the shiny reflectiveness of the "A". The Vowel also likes to make use of various things he finds during his adventures. Finally, the Vowel's over-the-top, dramatic pronouncements, speach, and oration, his verdant vowelish verbosity, are legendary.

The Phantom Eyebrow

Coolness Pyroclasm!  I feel like putting finger to keyboard now...

HERO NAME: The Phantom Eyebrow
IDENTITY NAME: Also The Phantom Eyebrow (see below)
HERO TYPE: Spectral Ambassador of the Cosmos!
ORIGIN: The universe is alive, and when it senses a threat it is capable of creating cosmic antibodies to help defend itself.  The Phantom Eyebrow is one such manifestation, and has appeared at various points in history only to fade back into the spacetime wall when the danger has passed...
POWERS: The Phantom Eyebrow is barely material, and is able to enter an intangible state, teleport short distances, and punch through solid matter. Over-exerting his energy causes him to start fading away again, since he is held together only by his own concentration. He exhibits some control over gravitational fields by distorting spacetime, manifesting as local gravity disruptions or piercing eyebeams. He is also able to mystically sense threats using his Danger Vision, which tends to make him somewhat nervous and jumpy at all times...

Edit - went a bit overboard on the alternate versions of my avatar.  All fixed now...

Spam

HERO NAME: Spam

IDENTITY NAME: Charles C. Arrington

HERO TYPE: Meat

ORIGIN: Charles had a really bad day once. It was a Friday, so that sort of explains things. He was just at the grocery store, shopping for something, as he didn't have anything at home. There he was, pushing his cart merrily along, picking an item up, looking at it, and thinks about putting it in his cart. He decides that he needs some sort of food more then anything, so he decides to put it in. The item he put in his cart, was a little carton of SPAM. But what Charles didn't know, was inside the SPAM carton was a radioactive peice of meat. When Charles was done shopping and went home, he decided to eat the SPAM first. He heated it up, put it on his plate, and ate it whole. A few hours later, after feeling the after effects of it, he starts to hurt. His whole entire body is filled with pain, as he undergoes a very strange to say the least, of a transformation. He's very muscular, but he feels different. His DNA has mixed with SPAM, and thus his entire genetic complexity is filled with SPAM.

POWERS: Meat Beams, Super-Strength, Flight, Regeneration of lost appendage.

FORIAMSPAM!

Ephemeris

HERO NAME: Ephemeris
IDENTITY NAME: N/A
HERO TYPE: Alien
ORIGIN:  Millennia ago, the planet of Geodesia destabilized, shattering in a titanic explosion of fire and magma. The surviving inhabitants of the planet were scattered across the cosmos, including Ephemeris, whose body was molten magma itself. Cast into the vacuum of space, Ephemeris became a sort of "sentient meteorite", racing along with no end in sight.
Finally, in what was Earth's 20th Century, the planet snared Ephemeris in its gravitational pull. As the nearly inert mass gathered speed, it became superheated. The heat revived the fiery being, but not quickly enough. He slammed into the Siberian countryside, unleashing a mighty blast that ravaged the land.
Ephemeris regained consciousness just as the native people started to swarm the region, looking for answers. He hid himself away, unsure of them. As time passed, legends were told of a "fire demon" who roamed the Siberian hills.
Much later, Ephemeris was drawn to an urban region where he encountered and bested a villain assaulting the town. But just as before, he was greeted with apprehension and distrust, his freakish appearance trumping any virtuous intent he may have had.
Ephemeris hopes to find a home and acceptance despite his unwieldy power and fearful image.
POWERS: Magma convection and projection, intense internal body temperature, ability to raise external temperature in immediate vicinity, durable hardened/cooled lava exterior, vast knowledge of celestial objects and their projected positions, ability to exert minor gravitational forces on said celestial objects to psuedo-fly, telepathy to communicate, weakness to cold which causes stasis, extremely succeptable to smashing type damage while in stasis.

Uncle Yuan

Hero Name: Uncle Yuan
Identity Name: I don't know
Hero Type: Mystical/Supernatural
Origin: The being known as Uncle Yuan is actually one of the great asian dragons bound in mortal form.  He existed for milennia, calling a remote mountain range in China home.  About 130 years ago he was summoned by a very minor Chinese mage, working in a US railraod camp, in an attempt to increase his prestige amoung the other workers.  Feeling the summons, the dragon assumed the innocuous form of an old man.  Disaapointed at summoning something that obviously wasn't a huge dragon the mage cast Uncle Yuan aside.  But the summoning had been mishandled and the dragon found he could not return to his mountain or resume his normal form.  Since then he has quietly lived and worked in Chinatowns along the western seaboard, mostly as a healer and herbalist.  Well known and respected, Uncle Yuan is rummored to be more than he seems . . .
Powers: Due to the frailities of his human body, Uncle Yuan can tap only a small percentage of his potential power at any point.  He is essentially immortal and stronger and more nimble than his appearance would suggest (about comprable to a healthy 25 year old).  He acts as a mage, focusing on healing, status attacks, divinations and elemental "spells" (partciularly stone and air, the domain of his mountain home).  Because of his power limitation he finds it easiest to manifest a physical object, like a steaming tea pot that spews out enough steam to enshroud the area in fog.  He pulls these items from a shoulder bag he carries (mostly to hide the fact that he is summoning them from no where).

Note on avatars: I have a number of fantastic avs that are non-the-less not at all how I picture him.  I've come to think of the robed, bald monk as the dragon in a medieval mode.  For a more "accurate" picture think Egg Shen from "Big Trouble in Little China" or Uncle from "The Jackie Chan Adventures."  Still for completeness sake, here's some of the avs that I do have:

Mr. Hamrick

HERO NAME: Edgar Hammond
IDENTITY NAME: No other publicly known
HERO TYPE: Technology, think evil Bond villain type.
Occupation: Media Entrepreneur
Identity: Public; though the public is unaware of some of Edgar Hammond's activities.
Legal Status: U.S. Citizen with no criminal record.
Aliases:
Place Of Birth: Unrevealed
Marital Status: Unrevealed
Group Affiliation: Hammond Media

Base Of Operations: The Hammond Media Building, The Parthenon Hotel and Casino
Height: 5'10"
Weight: 175lbs.
Eyes: rumored to be brown
Hair: Brown
Unusual Features: rarely seen without mask and/or sunglasses.

Strength Level: Edgar Hammond normally possesses the strength of a normal human who engages in moderate exercise.

Known Powers: None revealed

Equipment: Edgar Hammond owns a collection of masks and other artifacts, some of which reportedly possess supernatural powers. One of his masks reportedly allows the wearer to summon two demonic assistants that take on whatever shape is necessary.

History: Edgar Hammond emerged on the world media scene seemingly out of nowhere. Along with his associates, he's launched a successful media organization that crosses nearly every medium to nearly every continent. He has managed to keeep a relatively low profile himself preferring to act through intermediaries as often as possible. Though those who have found themselves meeting face to face with him describe him as enigmatic with a dangerous charm to him.

There is another side to Edgar Hammond as well. He reportedly has been involved in several illegal gambling deals, an underground fight club circuit, some degree of drug dealing, blackmail, and other dealings. It is reported that he may have been behind one political scandal that made the news. However, despite all the rumors and accusations, no one has been able to pin an actual crime on Hammond and make it stick.  He is frequently accompanied by three assistants that are sometimes described as his "filthy assistants" or his muses.

(If you'd like listing for them, I can oblige.  They have no avatars, yet)

POWERS: He has no known powers but he has a lot of wealth, technology, and intelligence at his disposal.  His "filthy assistants may or may not have powers".

Glitch Girl

What the heck...

HERO NAME: Glitch Girl

REAL NAME: Lauren McKay

HERO TYPE: Technoapth (human born with aquired alien powers)

ORIGIN: Lauren discovered she had powers over electronics after witnessing a UFO crash on a particularly rotten camping trip.  Initially her control over them was tenuous at best, causing electronics to act erratic and often just completely (and sometimes spectacularly) break down. She was later "discovered" and trained by Direwolf and later joined Electric Freedom where she exhibited far greater control over all things computerized.

POWERS: Mentally control any electronic device up to abuot a hundred yards (though powers occasionally cause unexpected or erratic results), mentally connect through any electronic network and "read" computerized information, limited resistance to mental control and attacks due to powers.

ADDENDUM - I'd still like to be informed beforehand about usage, but for the most part, I'm cool with it.

Previsionary

Eh, why not?

Name:
(unknown)

Identity: Premonitioner

Herotype:
Mystical/Gadgeteer/Altered Human

Origin: At one point in life, the Premonitioner was just a regular man that knew an incredible secret about his one time bestfriend. However, that secret proved deadly when a hit was put out on Prem and he was killed violently in a car crash (car into the ocean...explodey...doom!). The next day, he found himself mystically alive and endowed with the powers of telepathy and telekinesis that gradually developed into other powerful abilities thanks to the help of Master X and the Messiah.

Powers: Prem has been shown to use telepathy and telekinesis as a way to easily defeat his foes. He has the power to see into the future at random intervals and gradually learned how to focus his TK/TP energy into beams called "psyblasts". Over time, Prem began to try his hand at magic and has the ability to cast minor spells with no problem and major spells with extreme risk to himself and others.

Only have access to the micro of FF's skin at the moment:

The Hitman

Oh, goodie!

NAME: The Hitman

IDENTITY: Vincent "Vinnie" MacDonnel (His identity is publically known. I mean, the guy has shiny blue skin!)

HERO TYPE: Technology/ Mystic

ORIGIN: Vinnie was once a high- level enforcer for Jimmy Grey, the top mob boss in Shining City. After may years of service, Vinnie had finally decided that he was too old for the "knee- breaking buisness," and decided to retire. Boss Grey approved his request, but he had to do one last job- collect a little protection money from a science lab. However, when he and his group of thugs arrived, the thugs turned on him. The tied him to an experimental teleportation box, set the controls for overload, and left. Vinnie allerted the scientists to evacuate, but it was too late for him. He was soon consumed in a blast of unknown energy, and disappeared. Moments later, a figure of pure energy appeared, barely able to hold it's for together, and uttered one word before it disapated- "... Help me..."

Eventually, the scientists began collecting the stray atoms, realizing that it was actually Vinnie, somehow changed from the blast. To show their gratitude for saving them, the scientists build a protective suit of semi- liquid blue metal, which seemed to be the only substance that could contain the energy. After much convincing, Vinnie decided to use his situation for good (mostly), and set up shop as Shining City's premire Super- Hero... for a small fee, of course.

Strangely, no one ever questioned what happened during his disappearance. The truth is, Vinnie was teleported out of his fictitious world, and into the Real World. There, he discovered that everything he ever knew was nothing more than a comic book!

POWERS: Flight, energy projection, slightly enhanced speed and strength, enhanced durability and stamina, able to survive without food or rest (although he still does eat and sleep because he likes to), immortality as long as he's in the suit, "Comic Awareness" (Which is the ability to percieve outcomes before they happen, due to him reading the comic he's in. It is very limited, and based solely on his memory of what he read.) His weakness is all in the suit. If he were to get a crack in the suit, his atoms would be dispersed throught a 25 mile radius, and would have to manually be collected.

Thanks.  Hope it works out.

To others: I don't think I explained what was being asked for correctly.  I've expanded to information above in hopes that people can correct their entries.
"Hero Name" is the character codename, not their real name.
"Identity Name" is their "non-super" name, or their normal person name. (Not yours, unless it is the same as your character.)
"Hero Type" is sort of your character class.  In City of Heroes and Marvel Superheroes it is referred to as "origin".  For example, if your character is Superman, you would write "Alien" not "Super strong boy scout Hero".
Please also note that only ONE character per forum member will be considered for the challenges.  If you post more than one, I will only put the first one in for assignment.

Thanks everyone who have posted.  The more the merrier, as it will provide a deep pool for randomizing.

Kitt Basher

HERO NAME: Kitt Basher
IDENTITY NAME: Samuel Turner
HERO TYPE: Mutant/Gadget-based
ORIGIN: An idealistic inventor created a powered suit to fight injustice.  When his parents needed his help, the Kitt suit failed him.  He reinvented himself without the suit, using various inventions depending on his needs.
POWERS: Hyper Invention, Photgraphic memory.  He typically uses cloning self and others, some sort of blaster and an energy shield.

UnkoMan

I'm always up for stuff like this... Heck I enjoyed just reading all these profiles.

HERO NAME: Unko Man
IDENTITY NAME: Unknown
HERO TYPE: Presumably Normal Human, with some training/gadgets.

ORIGIN: Virtually nothing is known about Unko Man's previous life. His early accounts of himself wildly contradict, and usually don't make sense, from growing up in a dinosaur filled version of the old west, to being a mob enforcer in feudal Japan. He is a notorious liar, and has a habit of turning up when least expected, and mysteriously vanishing again. Unko Man has never been seen out of costume, although has occasionally disguised himself by putting on a trenchcoat and fedora over top.

POWERS: Peek human speed, dexterity, and stamina. His mind also operates in such a way that any mentalist's powers usually backfire. Unko Man also keeps a large supply of gumballs filled with various substances, such as: liquid nitrogen, toxic gas, flash powder, and nitroglycerine. More incredible, some of the gumballs have been known to spawn miniature people in similar costumes to Unko Man. It is unknown if this is due to some kind of super science or a power Unko Man possesses himself.

Protomorph

HERO NAME: Protomorph
IDENTITY NAME: David Miligi
HERO TYPE: Human, altered by cosmic energies
ORIGIN: Protomorph and his teammates were bestowed with genetic-altering cosmic energies by Krystos, as he searched for soldiers for his army. The Protomorph of the FR universe is a duplicate of the original, who explored a dimensional rift in time/space, stranded without his teammates, and believed to be dead. Exactly what or who created this rift, remains a mystery.
POWERS: Enhanced Strength, Flight, Elasticity, and Shapeshifting. [Formerly, could create duplicates, but this power was removed when his powers copied into a young lady when a bolt of mysterious mystic energy arc that connected them, transforming her into Kid Protomorph]

Lord Elcorion

HERO NAME: Lord Elcorion ((went by "Archmage" when he first became a super hero, but soon discarded it))
IDENTITY NAME: full name Lord Elcorion Martteshia Darkbolt
HERO TYPE: magic
ORIGIN: Lord Elcorion was born on the world of Barvaronia, in another dimension where magic was strong, and technology had never advanced much further than medeival level. he was born to a peasant family, but his mother and father were killed and his younger sister lost when the village was attacked by the Death Knight Lord En'Drakus, called Lord Nightmare. elcorion had been away from the village, and when he returned, he swore vengence on Lord Nightmare. he sought out a mage and began his apprenticeship. some sixty years later, haveing risen to the pinnical of mystical power and becoming the head of the Council of 12 Circles, and being reunited with his sister, Elcorion, now the High Lord Archmage of Barvaronia, went into battle against Lord Nightmare and his necromancer paramour, Lady Death. he seemingly destroyed them, and himself, when he activated a powerful artifact, but in reality, the three had been thrown across the dimensions to a place called earth. elcorion, studying the superheros of earth, took up their mantle, vowing to protect this world as he had protected his old home.
POWERS: Elcorion's powers originate from his extensive spell books, and with them, he can perform a vast number of effects, including flight, teleportation, blasts of various types of energy, illusions, mind control, invisibility, and summoning creatures and people from other places and dimensions. he can also craft a variety of useful magical items for his own use or his allies.

Lunarman

HERO NAME: Lunarman

IDENTITY NAME: Graham Rexor

HERO TYPE: Energy X origins, powers passed down through father's energy X gene

ORIGIN: Graham Rexor was the child of Mentor and Sandra Rexor. Sandra Rexor was a ufologist in the state of West Virginia but she claimed she was an alien herself. Graham Rexor was born with weak control over gravity so Man-bot blessed him with extra Energy-X increasing his power many-fold. At an early age Graham learned of his father's past career as a superhero and was inspired to become a defender of peace himself. Soon he went into full time training with Minuteman and Mentor and adopted the name Lunarman. In his time at the DOD Lunarman defended Earth many times. After the third defeat of Time Master, Blackout discovered a device hidden deep within the celestial clock. The device was a dimensional transporter and when activated Lunarman, Ice Angel, Blackout and Flash Lass were thrown into another world. Whilst dimension hopping Lunarman discovered various versions of himself, some were almost identical, others were completely different. From the main 5 dimensions Lunarman found that he lived in the third, in the 1st dimension lived a weapon wielding Lunarman. 1st dimension Lunarman had the ability to create weapons/armour made out of moonlight and the brighter the moon was the stronger those weapons were. 2nd Dimension and 1st Dimension Lunarman fought together against the Domain many times over the course of thier lifetimes.

POWERS: Lunarman controls gravity. Using this power he can reduce his own weight so he floats and can effectively fly. He can also increase the earths gravitic pull on himself so that he is immune to knockback. In battle Lunarman fights by increasing his opposition's gravity until they are unable to stand or he decreases their weight until they float helplessly in the air. Lunarman constantly cloaks himself with a weak gravity shield which he uses to deflect incoming bullets and such like. Lunarman's father also built a medium powered laser into his costume which can be used as a long ranged attack in battle and costs the user no energy.
Another version of Lunarman is one that can create weapons out of moonlight. Similar to green lantern except he can only create weapons and armor, such as swords, axes , shield and full body armor. These powers belong to the "avatar" version of Lunarman or Lunarman 1 (from the first dimension, but I won't go into that now). Lunarman's weapon creating abilities are strongest when the moon is full when he can create full suit of armor out of moonlight which dramatically boost his strength and speed.

Cardmaster

HERO NAME: Cardmaster
IDENTITY NAME: Rick Stripe
HERO TYPE: Magic/Mutant
ORIGIN: In the beginning, Rick was a mutant with the relatively mundane ability to collect energy (mostly in the form of light or electricity), store it, and then disperse it at a later time. A chance encounter with a gypsy (and her mystical deck of playing cards) changed all that, however. The mystic energies at work inside the cards were siphoned into Rick's body, intertwining and bonding with him, irreversibly turning boy and cards into the being now known as the Cardmaster.
POWERS: The permanent bonding of the card's energies 'disabled' Cardmaster's previous ability to collect and store energy: simply put, he just doesn't have the room to accommodate any more energy. Now, the cards are literally a part of him. As Cardmaster, Rick's most basic ability is a weak telekinetic control over his cards, allowing him to throw them with amazing precision and aim. Due to their great bond, the cards always return to him, in any way possible. With focus, however, he can do anything from control their flight path, to create a giant shield or barrier with the cards. These greater tricks take a great deal of concentration and stamina, however, and he can't keep them up for long. Additionally, any pain or damage to the cards is his pain as well: and it is that that is his greatest weakness.

That's my standard costume, which I've used for years. The design's mine, but the skin there is by the great C6. However, lately I've gotten rid of the skullcap in favor of this mask:
(courtesy of GG)
Everything else is still the same, however.

Reepicheep

VILLAIN NAME: Adeptik Reepicheep
IDENTITY NAME: Adeptik Reepicheep
VILLAIN TYPE: Magic and training
ORIGIN: (its long)
Reepicheep's first occupation, after making his way through the ranks, was as the respected captain of the guard in Nymm's capital city. He was considered among the most noble (albeit shortest) men alive at that time for his valour, charisma and tact. This lasted in harmony for some time until he was ordered to aid another city of Nymm from an imposing attack. This invasion was long anticipated by legend, which prophisises a race of hellish sort reemerging from the depths of their lair, an underground city in an extinct volcano known as Taragaras. The battle that came out of it was greater than anyone expected, and the city Reepicheep aided in defence was torn apart by the hellions. Those who were survivors, including Reepicheep, evacuated the area and headed to the next safe haven. At the king's orders, Reepicheep formed strike force Dark Claw to try and counter the armies from Taragaras, but it was mostly to no prevail until one from the Hellion ranks betrayed his side and joined Dark Claw, donning the name Blood Claw. His superior power, knowledge and tactic allowed the strike force into the center of Taragaras whereupon the evil armies were forced into submission. Reepicheep and Blood Claw were the only two able to enter the central sanctuary of Taragaras, where they fought the source of the hellions, a demon lord calling himself the Dark Spirit.

Reepicheep was unaffective towards the Dark Spirit, and his hand was caught in a poisonous attack, weakening him. His hand showed signs of hellish deformity - his fingernails began to grow and abnormal, terracotta spikes began to erupt from the skin. While Blood Claw battled the evil demon, Reepicheep took his chance to backstab it with the claw, taking it by suprise and allowing Blood Claw an open strike. Immidiately, noise ceased in Taragaras and the Dark Spirit, along with all of his remaining hellish minions, were either destroyed or fixated into a suicidal madness. Reepicheep, meanwhile, was forced into observing his hand become more and more alike to the features of the creatures he had been killing. His fingers shifted and grew and his palm bulged until he could touch his foot with the tips of his new-found claw. Along with that, his vision started to metamorph until nothing was recognisable through his eyes and he could no longer feel the ground in the same way he used to. His hair began to grey, or go as far as turning pale white. Blood Claw was quick on the case, using his powers to stop the virus corrupting Reepicheep further.

From then on, Reepicheep used a red cloth over his eyes to hide the disfigured look they left behind. The acidic magic inside him allowed him a new way of looking at the world. Professionals were able to link these new traits with of vampires, determining that the army they had just spent over a year fighting were a seperate breed. Their touch on Reepicheep had almost turned him into one.

The evil nature of his new vampiric life got to Reepicheep, however. He became hungry for power, much to Blood Claw's delight, who had taken to promising Reepicheep a great amount of knowledge through tasks that could only be considered sinning. He rid himself of any links to other people by killing his wife and framing those who were his friends, who were then put to death - his son, Kast, deserted the scene before Reepicheep could kill him too. Respect for him meanwhile grew as he became a warmonger and a key figure in Nymm's army. Blood Claw was given royalty rights for similar reasons and, when the king was mysteriously assassinated, democracy demanded that he become the nation's ruler. Under him was Reepicheep as General of the Army.

Reepicheep proceeded to command more of the world and Blood Claw's rule was tyrannical. Nymm's populace realised they might have made a mistake...
POWERS:
Vampiric senses - Reepicheep's senses have become corrupted and transended. He views things in a very different way to humans would, which allows him to sense life and movement along with basic shapes, but he can no longer observe detail (average sized print is impossible to read)
Life drain - its important to point out that Reepicheep is dependant on this power - his own life drains overtime and he must blood-suck to recover it.
Claw - Reepicheep's transcendence into a hellion took total corruption of his hand before Blood Claw could cure it and stop it spreading. Along with loosing his human senses, his left hand was transformed into a massive, hellish claw.

Please tell me if you are using my avatar.....ask for my consent first.

I'm pretty sure posting here is supposed to mean you give full consent in advance....

If you would like to allow people to use your avatar in the Artistic Challenges or even any general fan art or fan fiction, this would be the place to post this.

Pyroclasm

Yup.  That's right.  If you post it here, you're indicating that not only are you giving consent, but that you actually want us to use your avatar.  That's the whole point of this thread.  So if you are uncomfortable with the prospect of having your character messed with (and having no additional say in it), remove your entry.

Just want to point out that some people may be okay with having their avatars used for some things without permission, but not others- for example, someone may be okay with other people suing their avatars for purely visual things, like skinning and artistic challenges, but not in fanfics and the like. It might be a good idea if people clarify what kind of permission they're comfortable giving here.

Pyroclasm

Actually, I don't really want people making distinctions or giving partial permission in this thread.  One of the reasons for this thread was so I didn't have to check with each person to see if it's ok.  I don't want someone coming back and saying, "I gave my permission for fanfics!  Remove that artwork from the thread!" or "That new origin you gave that redesign is fanfiction, and I didn't say that was okay" or someone saying "it's okay to use my character as long as the artwork doesn't make me look silly".  By posting your avatar in this thread, you are giving other forum members license to have fun.  No one is saying the resultant artwork or fiction will be canon, anymore than a fan's depiction of Superman is canon.  If people start giving partial permission, then I will simply not include those that do in any of the assignments.

But the thing is, giving permission for skinning challenges and the like, and giving permission for fanfics and similar things, are very, very different things. I don't see that distinguishing between them complicates things, at all. They ARE different, and, personally, I think lumping them together may be a bad idea. Obviously, you think otherwise- but my point is that different people are going to see that differently from each other. It wouldn't surprise me at all if some people who would be happy to see their avatars used in some circumstances, but not others, are avoiding responding in this thread precisely because of that (don't misunderstand, I don't specifically know of anyone doing that). Is it fair to exclude such people from the fun, just because they see more of a distinction here than you do?

Granted, I may be overreacting, but is does seem to me that people can resonably consider there to be at least two different kinds of permissions here.

Don't get me wrong- I think this thread is a great idea, and I hope it gets stickied. It could ultimately be useful for a lot of things, and I always like to see people make use of the various avatar characters around here. There shouold probably be links to this thread in some of the other forums, in fact- fan fiction, art, skins, etc. Not everyone around here frequents the general discussion forum.

Also, if this includes fanfics, shouldn't people be including something about their avatars' personalities, as well? At least some sort of brief description?
