GrizzlyBearTalon

HERO NAME: Grizz
IDENTITY NAME: Tyler "Ty" Brown aka "Big T" (Considered dead to the public at large)
HERO TYPE: Altered Human/Trained Human

ORIGIN: During a fateful trip deep in the heart of the Rocky Mountains Grizz was granted his powers after an attack by an enraged bear of unnatural size and dubious origin. The strange behemothian ursine died as a result of wounds sustained during the attack and nearly did the same to him. He passed out after large amounts of blood loss his life's blood and that of the savage creatures mixed. When he awoke there was nothing to be seen of the beast but he found himself transformed into the hulking form of a nearly eight foot tall humanoid bear.

Grizz would embrace the changes brought to him and his life, changes that were only begining. Eventually he would leave his small town and found himself fighting alongside many of the heroes he had long admired. He even went on to have held membership in various groups like Dragon Force and H.A.M.S.T.E.R. Grizz was living every young boys dream that had ever held a comic book and despite many hardships he loved every minute of it. In fact for the superhuman world he was considered their "Kevin Bacon."

POWERS: As a result of his transformation, Grizz possesses high levels of superhuman strength, stamina, and resistance to physical injury. He is capable of surviving impacts of great strength and force with no injury. Furthermore he heals at a slightly accelerated rate, and can enter a hibernative state when faced with grievious injuries in which the rate of healing rises dramatically. His body is also covered in a thick brown fur with black skin underneath, his arms and legs end in adapted pawlike hands and feet that terminate with medium length sharp curved claws which he can partially retract. The claws are sharp and capable of even piercing some metal or damaging stone, they can also assist in climbing or digging.

His transformation from human to ursine did not effect only his body, but his mind and senses as well. Grizz possesses the same enhanced senses of smell and hearing as bears, bears have basically equivalent to human vision. However thanks to his bear heritage his vision is ehanced in other ways granting him night vision because of a reflector sytem, his eyes glow red in the dark, in his eyes and an extra "clear" membrane over his eyes granting excellent underwater vision as well. Mentally the changes are much more subtle, he possesses many underlying animal instincts which have helped him to survive in many situations. There is a downside to these instincts however, an animalistic rage that when fully unleashed leaves Grizz little more than a mindless animal lashing out at anything nearby.

Intensity

I'll give this a shot since I'm back to the forums :D

so much nostalgic fun!

here's a link to Intensity's bio on the freedom reborn wiki-
http://frworld.wikispaces.com/Intensity

and here is an updated look at Intensity:

HERO NAME: Intensity
IDENTITY NAME: Kevin Nilson
HERO TYPE: Trained Human/Altered Human
ORIGIN: Kevin, although talkative and an all-around nice guy, never really fit in with any one group of
people.  He had been training in the martial arts ever since he was eight years old, which served as a place to express himself and release built up tension from everyday life.  He had moved from the Ukraine when he was very young, due to a large amount of radiation seeping into the atmosphere due to past
power plant meltdowns.  Little did he know that the small doses of radiation he came in contact with as a child, mixed with the angst of his everyday life, would create in him an unbelievable amount of power just waiting to be released.
Kevin was at a convenience store during the blackout in the early 21st century that wiped out all power in the North American Midwest.  It was around that time in which he just needed something positive from life.  Instead, he found himself smack dab in the middle of an armed robbery in the convenience store.  Frustrated that his years of martial arts training might backfire and cause innocent civilians to get hurt, Kevin tried to wait things out during the robbery.  It was then in which a surge of power came flowing through him.  His entire body flickered with a radiant blue light, and in an instant, the entire store lit up with an INTENSE blinding glow.  Not thinking twice, Kevin used this key moment to his advantage, and used his training in the martial arts to disarm the blinded assailants and take them down with swift kicks and joint locks.  When the bright light faded, the cashiers and customers at the store were amazed to find out that their attackers had been disarmed, beaten, and tied up to be arrested by the police.  It was that moment that marked the birth of Intensity, light manipulator and master of martial arts!!!
POWERS: Light Manipulation.  Has the ability to amplify or diminish the intensity of ambient light in his surrounding area, as well as project blinding and concussive light flashes and beams.  When in the heat of battle, his body lights up with a vibrant blue glow, making his hand to hand combat more powerful as well as fast, and enabling him to fly for a limited distance.

Abilities and Weapons:  Intensity is trained in pocket knife combat as well as both the Bo and Jo staff.  With or without his powers, Kevin is a master the Korean striking martial arts and has years of training in various grappling and throwing artforms as well.  He also has limited gymnastics experience.

Pyroclasm

Reminder once again:
Please update your Hero Type to be one of the standard hero types, such as:
Normal Human (J. Jonah Jameson, Lois Lane, etc.) No actual powers.
Trained Human (Punisher, Batman, etc.) Powers acquired through extensive training such as martial arts, combat, scientific study, etc.
Altered Human (Spider-Man, Flash, etc.) Born normal, but powers acquired through an outside cause such as radiation, genetic tampering, serums, etc.
Gadget-based (Iron Man, Steel, Stilt-Man, etc.) Powers derived from external non-magical item(s) such as a weapon, armored suit, gadget belt, etc.
Alien (Superman, Aquaman, Thanos, Galactus, Uatu, Darkseid, etc.)  Character is not human, but not a robot or cyborg.  Powers often but not necessarily derived from alien physiology.
Robot (Ultron, Vision, etc.) A completely technological being.  Synthoids, Androids, Mechs, etc. all fall in this category too.
Cyborg (Cyborg, Deathlok, etc.) Meat and tech combined into one.
Mutant (Just about any X-man) Born with abilities not normally present in other members of their race.  These can be immediate or exhibit later in life.
Mystical (Zatanna, Dr. Fate, Dr. Strange, Spawn, etc.) Those that exhibit spellcasting ability, wield magic items, are "powered up" by magic, or entities that have no logical explanation for being such as ghosts, spirits, "Death",  Phoenix Force, etc.

You can splice types to be more specific/accurate such as Trained Human/Gadget-based could better describe Batman.

I'm hoping to incorporate the hero types into a future avatar artistic challenge and this would help me.

Edit: Changed the normal human example, Alaric.  :P  Added definitions.

Normal Human (J. Jonah Jameson, Lex Luthor, etc.)
Trained Human (Punisher, Batman, etc.)

Hmm... Personally, I'd consider Lex Luthor to be a Trained Human- it's just that his area of training is non-physical in nature.

Intensity

sorry about that-  I fixed Intensity to Trained Human/Altered Human

UnkoMan

Well... JJ is trained... at being a journalist. Does that count?

I guess what I'm saying by that retarded remark is, I am unclear on what the "trained" part should mean, really. Even though I totally used it in my profile.

Pyroclasm

As with all the hero types, it is how they got their powers if any.  So if their powers are derived from their training, then yes, they would be considered a "trained human".  As the examples above, both Punisher and Batman exhibit superior combat ability due to extensive training.  Batman also exhibits super-sleuthing ability due to his training.  The key is where they get their powers.  You can also splice the terms, as in Mister Fantastic, who not only is an altered human (stretching) but is also a trained human (scientific genius).  If the character just went to college or just has a regular old skill that doesn't qualify as a "power" then the trained term wouldn't be used.

Alaric

To me, it boils down to whether a given character can do things with his or her skills that are beyond what someone in the real world would be able to do with those skills. Batman and Reed Richards (without his stretching powers) can both do things that real people with similar skills would be unable to do- in effect, regardless of the rationale given for their abilities, they are in fact, by real-world standards, superhuman. Have you ever watched Olympic-level gymnastics? Even a lesser "costumed acrobat"-type hero can do things on a ruitine basis- in the middle of combat- that the best gymnasts in the world have trouble doing under more ideal circumstances. To me, that sort of thing is what marks a given character as "trained".

Pyroclasm

I'd totally agree, Alaric. ;)
It only qualifies as "trained" if it is an actual power.

Oh, and while we're on explaining, "Gadget-based" refers to any hero that relies on external non-magical item(s) for one or more powers.  Guns for Punisher... Utility Belt for Batman... Armor for Steel... etc.  Once the item becomes part of the character, he may fall under altered human or even cyborg.  If the item is magical like Mjolnir or Excalibur, then the character is considered "mystical" regardless if they can cast spells.

GrizzlyBearTalon

In regards to the "Trained Human" Hero Type, would that include training from a quasi military organization similar to SHIELD? As in a trained specialist or agent? Or are we talking purely near super human levels of such training?

Like Iron Fist would he be a trained human? His Iron Fist ability is merely a product of his martial arts training is it not? (I could be wrong, heh)

UnkoMan

Ah, thank you for the claification. It seems what I put in my profile is right then.

I think super military training the likes of SHIELD or Bond or something should be considered trained human. Those guys are crazy pants.

Pyroclasm

Yeah, those guys are "trained".  Notice that although they all receive similar training, it is the named characters that seem to be able to do crazy things with that training.  It's a PC vs. NPC sort of thing. :D

My avatar doesn't fit into any of these.  Can't Cosmic Entity be part of the list? (In my case a relatively low-powered one, but still)

Pyroclasm

That would be Alien or Mystical.
Galactus, a cosmic entity, is categorized as alien.  Asgardians & Olympians can also be categorized as aliens.  A being that just is and has no logical explanation for being is probably mystical.

Gah...good thing I noticed...
If anyone changes their name/avatar, please indicate that in your new post.  Since I just add names to the list, I may not notice that I need to switch a name rather than adding.  Don't worry Raijin, I noticed and will make the change on my list.  We wouldn't want it to be unfair. ;)

daglob

NAME: The Glob
SECRET ID: Varies. Thinks he was once Dr. Michael Vernon, but since Dr. Vernon is dead, he does not usually assume that ID. Has taken on the appearance of actors James Stewart, Cary Grant, Tony Curtis, Vincent Price, Clark Gable, Marilyn Monroe, Bob Hope, Danny Kaye, Groucho Marx, William Powell, Jack Benny, Betty Davis, Bela Lugosi, Douglas Fairbanks Sr., Humphrey Bogart, Peter Lorre, and nearly every character ever played by Lon Chaney Sr. He insist that he does not do Tom Sellek. At these times, he has given names that are often variations on the actor’s real name: Archie Leach, Bernie Schwartz, Jeanie Baker, Les Towne, Dan Komminsky, Julius Marks, DeForest Bogey, Lester Lowenstein, etc.
HERO TYPE: Android assassin with the memories of a murdered man. He would rather be a stand-up comedian.
ORIGIN: The Glob was originally number 13 in a series of android “super-soldiers”. He was a Tankerbogus class (a tankerbogus is supposed to be a shape-shifting demon, and where the word “bogus” comes from) assassin android. He awoke a week early with two sets of memories: those of he regular assassin droid, and those of Dr. Michael Vincent, the unwilling head of Project Cadmus, the program that was building the androids. H found DR. Vernon’s lifeless body in the decanting room. Upon the body was a wallet with over a thousand dollars in it and a piece of paper which was written a single work in Dr. Vernon’s handwriting: “RUN!”
For several years The Glob dodged government agencies after the rogue assassin droid. They were distracted by a REAL rogue assassin droid (#12) that was creeping through Europe killing people indiscriminately.
Eventually, through the actions of several members of a team of super heroes he had taken up with, he managed to buy himself at a government auction
POWERS: Shape shifter. Can assume any shape he can imagine up to 16 times his volume, more for as long as he is able to stand the strain. He can assume sizes down to one-eighth his volume, again slightly smaller for limited periods of time. He can stretch approximately 35 meters easily; slightly farther under stress. He can vary his pigmentation, grow extra limbs, wings, fins, hooves, tentacles, heads, eyes, whatever. He cannot duplicate “chrome” metallic textures, but that is about the limit. He can alter his vocal cords and speech apparatus to mimic nearly any sound and nearly any voice. In addition, he can “harden” parts of his body and produce razor sharp edges that constantly renew their sharpness, or harden his hands into clubs or mallets. He also has a form of “x-ray vision” that works on mass sensitivity, and due to having no central cerebral processor (brain) he is harder to mentalists to target. He is immune to most gas, chemical, and biological weapons, can survive in a vacuum, under water, but will freeze if he spends too much time below 0 degrees Farenheight, and will melt if subject to extreme heat (250 degrees centigrade).
PERSONALITY: The Glob often acts like a clown to make people forget that he is basically designed to turn into your best friend and walk up to you and kill you.

psychopanda

HERO NAME: PsychoPanda
IDENTITY NAME: ??
HERO TYPE: Magic (costume)
ORIGIN: Well, there was this knock on the door...and when I opened it..there was this box. I brought the mysterious box in and promptly opened it. Inside was this black and white costume. It wasn't Halloween, but I figured "Why not?!". It fit amazingly well and I said to myself "PsychoPanda...you must stop some bad guys today!".
POWERS: Super Leaping. Acrobatic. Random luck.
PsychoPanda has luck powers on the magnitude of reality manipulation. Some examples of 'Panda's weirdness aura: the sky suddenly raining gum-drops that cause an attacker to miss, fixing an electronic device with silly clay, etc. 'Panda's luck is not all-powerful, he has been known to be hurt at random times. 'Panda also seems to be oblivious to the effects of this power, reacting as if the strange happenings are "normal occurrences".

It's unknown as to whether the costume has any effect on the wearer's personality or if the wearer was odd *before* putting the costume on. 'Panda doesn't seem to have any recollection of his life before putting the suit on.

Costume design notes: another odd part of the costume, is that the black/white patterns infrequently shift into other patterns. 'Panda has white "paw prints" on the bottom of his boots. Oh, and he has little ears on the top of his head.
