Yay new UE skins!
Really neat and unique Carnage. They're all very nice, I particularly like Catwoman.

Hot sauce! Harley and Carnage are my favorites.

Holy sneakers, you've been holding out on us, you evil skinner you. Carnage in particular stands out to me... I think it's my favorite of your skins to date.

I actually do have one major issue with this batch though. That's this:

Quotebooster, harley and selina are all pending meshers approval

*smack* Don't put this on me, jerkface. You skins are great, as I knew they would be or I wouldn't have bothered asking you to skin them. You don't have to wait for me to say so, jebus.

You've outdone yourself.... I think Harley may be your best work to date, but that's an extremely hard judgement to make.
Title: Re: the work of evil
Post by: BentonGrey on February 12, 2011, 05:01:24 AM
Wow!  TUE, these are some really fantastic skins!  I also love Harley, but I think my favorite is Mysterio.  You've got some really nice detailing on his gauntlets.  I feel like Harley's smile isn't quite right, though...maybe the corners of her mouth should be lifted just a bit more?  Her eyes are particularly nice, on the other hand, and the cloth details on her costume are excellent.

They are all excellent. I do like the Carnage (a character I don't really like) and Catwoman skins best.

These are certainly the best Harley and Catwoman skins I've seen.  Everybody really looks amazing!  The detail on the faces is really commendable.

I can't wait to download these!

Title: Re: the work of evil: get me skinning again
Post by: deano_ue on September 07, 2011, 09:48:34 PM
right guys its plain and simple i haven't skinned from the start of june and its mainly due to

1 working on other projects, be them photographic or graphic design
2 basically losing interest in creating content for the game

but i want a break from the other projects and want to try and get back into this, i still love doing it but just can't decide on how to start again, this is where you come in.

i want suggestions, but i will say this is not a requests forum so don't treat it as such. look at the characters, comics and stories i've worked on in the past, these are what interests me. look to them for ideas
are there characters from them i should go,do any of my previous releases badly need updates have i missed any obvious choices.

i know this sounds really pompous but i'm basiclly starting at a blank psd file and getting nothing.

all suggestions and ideas are most welcome and extremely appreciated.

Well TUE, if you want suggestions, I've got tons and tons.  You're a classic 80's cartoon fan, right?  Well, how about skinning some Thundercats?  Get the ball rolling on those guys and maybe I'll be able to create a mod around them. ;)  We've got an exellent Lion-O, but the other cats, and ESPECIALLY their villains could all use some TLC.  Weren't you working on a Panthro a while back?  Of course, the Ninja Turtles characters could also use some love, but most of them still need skopes first.  Also, check your PMs for a message about something else I'm working on that might interest you.
Title: Re: the work of evil: get me skinning again
Post by: Tomato on September 07, 2011, 10:18:48 PM
*sigh* TUE... you know better than this. you're inviting trouble I tell you!

In all seriousness though, if you want I could go into about half a dozen batman characters (maybe even a nuDC bat to go with AA's supes) you haven't done yet. Beyond that too, if you need to get any mesh pieces, I don't mind doing some meshing (it's skinning I keep having trouble getting going on... I made the new USM mesh in about 20 minutes from deciding to do it.)
Title: Re: the work of evil: get me skinning again
Post by: Cyber Burn on September 08, 2011, 03:28:12 AM
Going by your previous work, I wouldn't mind seeing some more Spidey villains (Such as: Rhino, Hydro-Man, Scorpion), or maybe some of Johnny Patches' unskinned skopes at the Champions Of Freedom site.

Plz. You guys are such n00bs at motivating TUE to skin. Watch a pro in action, beaches.

TUE, if you'll do new, kick-arse versions of Two-Face, Ra's, Joker, Poison Ivy, and Red Hood I'll mesh He-Man and Skeletor for you.

Spoiler
(http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c185/the_ultimate_evil/two_face_by_the_ultimate_evil.jpg)

so after much harping, pleading and finally bribing by tomato i gave it another go on his amazing mesh(not really just cant pass up a shot  :P )

i have another mesh to finish off for tom and then i'm at a cross roads, to steal from another HF member i'm gonna work on a group but cant pick which, it'll be the line ups but i may mix and match costumes

birds of prey brightest day era
new avengers current era
avengers movie group(would be comic looks)
justice league 52 (not sure if its classic or modern look)
sinster six
teen titans(young justice era)
fantastic four

or any other group you can think of be reasonable lol

Heads or tails?
Heads I love this skin. Tails I think this skin is awesome.

It's the suit that I like the most. Great job on the two sides.

Title: Re: the work of evil: heads or tails
Post by: Tomato on January 22, 2012, 02:05:04 AM
Just wanted to say again that I really like your choice of doing the black suit on the "good" half... Most people who use the black/white suit put the black on the "evil" side (because of the white=good black=bad thing that western culture adopted) but seeing it reversed, I feel like it fits better this way. Harvey Dent was always about conforming to this perfect image that everyone had of him, the straight laced lawyer... whereas the identity of Two Face was his escape from the social conventions that he had always been forced to follow. A white suit is not something I could see a conformist like Dent wearing.

I always hoped for an age 10-12 robin mesh with swinging animations, when i try to skope one of rens teen meshes onto a male basic it looks stretched. And then I imagined your ultspiderman and your hair sculpturals combined. but I'm just weird, I dream about meshes and skins all the time (plus robin is my one of my fav character concepts)

My USM is based on my Male_Teen_TM mesh, which is already set up for MB keys... heck, I'm pretty sure Pod's already used it for his Damian skin. It'd be fairly simple to skope it and use an existing robin skin on it.

Hmm... I don't know what I think about the lines all over the evil side of the suit. Are those suppose to be like... pinstripes gone insane? I do agree with Tomato though... the white on the evil side works much better.
Actually, this makes me want to skin my own Two-Face... maybe I ought to finally get around to reinstalling some of this FF stuff.

Everything else, though, swell! The face looks pretty darn cool.

Joker looks fantastic. About the only real critique I have is that the dark shade on the tailcoat section is slightly darker then the one on the suit, so it doesn't match up right. Even so, great skin, great use of the mesh... everything I'd imagine Joker to be.

I'm fairly sure this might be blasphemy round these parts... but honestly, I like this more then C6's.

Tomato, you're one lucky guy!
Title: Re: the work of evil: the will to torment 16/8
Post by: Tomato on August 17, 2012, 05:43:54 PM
... so because TUE decided to reward me for helping him finish the Motu skins he's wanted for as long as I've known him, I'm lucky?

Sorry, but that notion bugs me a tad. Getting a reward for doing good things for someone else is not "lucky," it's karma if anything. Now, granted, TUE didn't need to do this skin, and I'm very appreciative of it... but at the same time, it's not like he threw a dart at a wheel of random member names and just happened to hit me, either. And if someone does something nice for me and I repay that, that's not "lucky" either.

Anyway, mini rant over. On to critique:

First of all, I want to say I am blown away by the subtle textures here. The leaves, the metal, all of it is inspiring. I kinda miss the chain mail of the black areas, but the skin looks so nice without it that I'm ok with that. The colors are spot on as well, the reds in particular really pop. I have two minor qualms with it, however (and both are really nit-picky... but then, I've skinned him myself a dozen times, I'm allowed to be nitpicky):

-The shoulderpads extend too far down towards the front of the skin. It's not a huge deal generally, but because of how the highlight is placed on the bicep it makes the shape look a bit funky.
-Ugh... I hate saying this, because the texture on them is just so beautiful... but the shading on the leaves is a bit on the flat side. The leaves curve around the outside of the head, and should be in shadow toward the bottom of the skin. (ironically, this is one of the major reasons I last updated my av skin... the old one had the same problem)

But as I said, those are relatively minor nitpicks in a truly beautiful skin. I love how the face came out, I loved the detail you put into the logo, I love the colors... heck, let's make this simple: I love this skin!
Title: Re: the work of evil: the will to torment 16/8

dude, not trying to cause a fight, it's just a figure of speech.

but if you do want to get into something, well...

You are lucky because you have a friend that not only;
a) recognizes your talents as a creator (hence the constant requesting and pestering he mentions)
b) wishes to publicly display his gratitude to you, not only to our little community, but to the greater world at large through a YouTube video
and maybe most importantly...
c) is willing to look past the constant chip you have on your shoulder, and the attitude you show to others that wish for a fraction of the skill (and patience to develop such skill) that both you and TUE possess.

Now, usually I'm not as erudite as this. In fact, in most instances the drooling emoticon is sufficient because that is how i feel.
*i see a great skin >  > i post reply of  *

However, I'm hoping you can appreciate the fact that when people on the internet post something such as "You're a lucky guy!" They do it innocently, without malice or spite, and just want to provide simple positive support for works of art.

I wasn't mad about it, it's just something that nags at me... it nagged at me when pod posted it to, I just didn't say anything then. It's just that I take issue with the notion that being nice to someone and them being nice back is "lucky"... as though that's such a rare occurance in the universe that we should all be amazed by it when it does happen. The notion just kinda nags at me, that's all.
Title: Re: the work of evil: the will to torment 16/8

It's actually funny, earlier today I was analyzing the concept of luck in regards to something about my job, I don't remember the exact details but it was about bad luck specifically. I ultimately decided that luck was anything you didn't have direct control over. In this case while this skin is certainly a thank you, there's still an aspect of luck involved, that TUE was willing and able to do it and put such effort in. Alternatively someone could be saying you are lucky to get a skin as opposed to someone else or none at all, and the favor element wasn't really considered.
So I would say it's not wrong to say you're lucky in this case, though I do see your point.

Regardless, I didn't put that much thought into my post. I was basically just saying "Cool" and that was the first thing I thought of.

Y'know, I really like it even more now that I can actually see all the detail. It feels like some of my older designs for it, where I was going more for a realistic, armor type look then the more stylized, cartoony look I finally ended up with. Even the flaws I mentioned earlier are much less so at the higher resolution.

Just Fantastic work here TUE!

You've really got an eye for detail here, and you've really progressed since your last releases.

It's hard for me to pick a favorite from the bunch.
The Harley Quinn is so vibrant! Joker's tiny details like the wilted flower, or blood on his hands are fantastic. Booster Gold's reflection details are excellent.
He-Man's sword is fantastically detailed, and that Carnage mesh...Wow! y'know,  I feel like I have pretty accurate knowledge when it comes to keyframes, but that Carnage was something else. Was he a new mesh made for you?
It's just a bit unfortunate that I never got a chance to see your Superman, the zip i got only has the readme file. Oh, and Two-Face's whole head of hair is white too, maybe it's cause I put that skin in the skope Area34 did for his TAS Two-Face.

Anyway, Thank you for the great releases!

MUHAHAHAHAHAHA  honestly if you look into the whole thing its got a quite rich and deep backstory, which sadly the creators seemed determined to screw with

Post by: Tomato on February 01, 2013, 10:10:33 PM
Er... maybe this is just an outsiders perspective, but I feel like MotU is probably the most deferential to their origins out of any company owned property out there... to its own detriment, if anything. As much as I hear fans gripe about it, the sheer fact that they're making a castle grayskull, in a time when most toy companies won't even consider playsets at all (only exception is tmnt, and that's because that line is making serious bank) is a testament to how much they're putting into the line.

If anything, I wish they'd be less about the original lore, and include more characters and styles from the 200x line. I've almost picked up he-man and skeletor, but I just can't bring myself to pay money for characters I feel are much too bulky when compared to the 200x cartoon. I don't even care for the size of the dcuc figs half the time.

I hope you get this one done, and let me know if it's for the first :ff: Freedom Force :ff: or :ffvstr:. Until then, keep up the good work and see ya later.

ok and here's where you lot come in, i'm going to be doing skins differently from this point on. the truth be told i'm finding it harder and harder to get motivated for the game, i dont know what it is but i need to find a way to combat it. and i think i've found a way.

from now on i will do skins in pairs one a re-do of an existing skin( same character but possible new look) and one a brand new character. the catch is it must be one hero and one villain. this can be either way new hero/old villain, old hero/new villain.

so i ask what of my old skins need a re-do. any and all that i have released from dragon force upwards.

this is not a free for all in requests if you do try this i will ignore you now and in the future completely. i have no interest in what new characters you want me to do i'm only interested in which of my skins you feel need a new attempt

the next two have already been picked

Rhino and Daredevil? Cool. With the newer meshes/skopes that have been done for them, updated skins to go with them would be very cool.

Great looking skins, especially fond of the face work. Also is that movie Shredder? Sweet.

As for reskin suggestions I think Nightwing, Scarecrow, or Booster Gold would be good choices.

cheers guys but seriously fire away i wont be offend, thats why i asked what skins right from the start do you feel could be redone

one a somewhat related note i was digging around way back machine and found the old dragon force site and it actually gave me a few dates

it turns out my first ever community release skin was done on 15th January  2003 with a standard for a mesh which was typically hordak lol. still cant thank gren enough for that

it then seems i joined DF officially a few months later on 10th april 2003.  ten damn year doing this crap lol. what happened

But no, seriously, anything batman related works for me. I've said this before, but I really like anything you do regarding Batman characters, you do a better job translating them to 3d than most other skinners on here can, including myself.

As for your call for the previous skins that BentonGrey (Benton) wanted you to revisit which Benton mentioned to you, I also agree on what Benton said about it plus I also agree about Firestorm being a good idea as well . I do hope that the final versions of the characters that you are working on will come out looking excellent in their finished design versions whenever you finish them, and I do hope that we will all enjoy them when they come out for us to download and play with on :ff:. Wow.  I just went back to school after 26 years to get a certificate in web design.  Before now,  I've only used paint Shop Pro.  I am just beginning to learn Photoshop.  TUE, you've really made me excited to learn it. Daredevil was the first one of these I watched.  Now I can see what work goes into skinsmuch better than the ones I've done.  I can't wait to skin like that...it seems the Photoshop tools are superior to paint Shop.

It's a very fascinating watch, and it really just serves to make me have even more respect for the content creators of the community. I agree with Outcast though, that maybe a little slower would be nice so I can have a little better understanding of what you're doing. But in real-time, wow, that must have taken forever and a day to skin. I am even more impressed with your Daredevil skin after watching that.

Thanks for all the great contributions. You are very talented, and like I said to Pod in his thread, I envy your abilities. You guys are amazing.  As are all the people who have, and continue, to provide content for FF.

ok guys i can try and have the next one go a bit slower. daredevil was over 10'000 screen shot frames so at a second a frame thats just over 2 1/2 hours of video

i just went with what i had seen on other speed videos with the average being about 6 to 8 minutes long, but i'll see what i can do. though you do realize at a slower all it will be will me drawing a line, rub it out, draw a line, rub it out repeat 6-10 times. curse the community and photoshop, close the program and go play kingdom hearts hd lol

Your Bizarro is outstanding. Between the Cape work and the Texture work on the skin and costume, I am just blown away.

As for Minute man, the fact that you did these with only a Wire Map is just incredible, both of your versions easily outclass the originals. Is there any chance that we'll be seeing more of Irrational's characters?
