Title: Resources
Post by: Randomdays on November 03, 2012, 10:59:17 AM
Thought I would just point out the following as a resource for meshes that could be added to the game;

http://models-resource.com/pc_computer/dcuniverseonline/index.html (http://models-resource.com/pc_computer/dcuniverseonline/index.html)

http://models-resource.com/wii_gamecube/zeldatwilightprincess/index.html (http://models-resource.com/wii_gamecube/zeldatwilightprincess/index.html)

http://models-resource.com/wii_gamecube/residentevil/index.html (http://models-resource.com/wii_gamecube/residentevil/index.html)

http://models-resource.com/other_systems/mkvsdc/index.html (http://models-resource.com/other_systems/mkvsdc/index.html)

http://models-resource.com/psx_ps2/kingdom%20hearts/index.html (http://models-resource.com/psx_ps2/kingdom%20hearts/index.html)

There's a bunch of others if you look around.

what format are those models in?

I downloaded one of the zip files of models there...

inside the folder it held..

a .dae file
a .mtl file
a .obj file
a .smd file

it had

and 3 .png images with Diffuse, FX, and Normal in their file names.

Edit: I also downloaded one of the larger detailed models.. it also had a .dae, .mtl, and .obj file as well and 12 various .png files of layers and model parts. So it looks to be standard.

I plan to use the Kingdom Hearts to do some of the classic Disney characters to make a "Ducktales" sort of set, plus Mickey, Goofy, etc. Hopefully somebody else can do some of the others.

Max, Blender and Milkshape, and maybe Gmax all can work with .obj files. If you just want to work with one as a nif, pick one and I can convert it over in a couple of minutes when I get home. It won't be rigged, but you can see it static in nifskope or character viewer. Rigging would likely take a couple of hours if you you wanted to see it in action.

Title: Re: Resources
Post by: Randomdays on November 09, 2012, 11:28:17 AM
Downloaded it and checked it out in Blender. About 9000+ polys. Since its on six legs I'll try to rig it to one of the ants or maybe Mojo and see how it acts in game. The upper part is pretty static so I'll probably have the legs being the only thing animated.

Thunder, uploaded the 3 models you wanted to look at.

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/FF_Swap_Shop/files/temp/

Unrigged. Textures appear either 512x512 or 1024x1024. Converted pngs to tga

Alan Scott and Dr Fate - 2 seperate meshes, one for main body and one for cape. The capes were single layered meshes so I duplicated the polys and flipped the doubles so both sides would be textured. any change on side of the cape would show on the other as well. Only other change I made was I smoothed the polys.

Hawkman is one main mesh - no wings were included. All I did was smooth polys.

JKC - Blender can't work with any of the 6 legged meshes I tried - Dana's beetle, the FF ants, Brood and Mojo. Unless there's something else I can't think of, I won't be able to do the Eggfu.

What I could do, if you wanted it, would be a simple rig from a 4 footed creature - the middle legs would either be static or would be tied to the front or rear leg and would move with it.

okay - very strange. I rigged it to Gren's DDDrew wolf - the four outer legs to the wolf's legs and everything else just to the pelvis. I can see it in nifskope, but nothing in character viewer or character select in game. Its like its invisible.

But in game, appears just fine.

Anyway, its in the temp directory in my yahoo group. Hope you can make sense of it. I changed the run to run1 and the walk to run in the kfs while I was working with it to see how it would move. Easy to change back if you want.

I can see it in Character Select, and as of 9 a.m. this morning, Chang Tzu has brought his own special brand of villainy to FFvTTR!

Looks like when i set up Doctor Fate, I didn't set the path up for the location of the skins in nifskope to be the standard base. Alan Scott and Hawkman appear to be alright when I just checked and appear skinned for me.

If you know how to change your path in nifskope, that will fix it. If not, I'm reuploading a corrected version right now.

Cyber, both are done and will be up later today. The clasher worked out well, but the enforcer went strange when I rigged his left hand. No idea why. I had to rig the left hand to the left forearm instead - you won't see it except with object or pole anims since the hand won't turn. Maybe Hmarrs can tweak it - he's getting pretty good.

The only thing left is to convert the png skins to tga, make portraits if you want them, and zip them up. Keep an eye out - I'll post when done.

Edit - files posted. Both rigged to male_basic. Enjoy.

I'm tied up at the moment, but I'll be releasing a large group in a bit on James Bond. Done so far; Bond (Sean Connery Version) M, Q, Moneypenny, the car from Goldfinger and Little Nelly from "You Only Live Twice", Scaramanga (Man with the Golden Gun), Goldfinger, Oddjob, Dr No and Jaws. I've got to do readmes and Portraits, convert some skins to tga and maybe redo Jaws. I wanted to add a few more, but not a lot of time right now. Look for these in a week or so. Detourne has already skoped Bond so he has a jetpack in flying mode so they'll be 3 versions of him.

Those are pretty sweet Civ Models Random, I can open them in NifSkope, but it seems like they are a much higher version of nif file than the freedom force ones,  i wasn't able to skope with them too well.
I think they might need some blender magic or something fist before they are playable.

This is more for Ultimate Alliance, but I saw from Tommyboy's site that he had brought FF into UA and the reverse would probably work as well. Once the original model was captured and rigged for FF, the skins could be set up as alts on the model.

And if you do have UA, it would give more stuff to play with.

Title: Re: Resources
Post by: Randomdays on November 16, 2013, 07:40:39 PM
Would have to do some research since I've never really dealt with MUA before. I don't know what format the character models are in and if they're available separately, or if I would have to capture them to grab them. Same with the textures.

Doing a quick search with yahoo I see there are also a few hits on deviant art as well, like this one....http://darkmarkzx.deviantart.com/art/Magneto-Marvel-Ult-Alliance-137897102

Anyone you're interested in particular? Still finishing up the stone age set but I could take a look at MUA when I'm finished with them.
Title: Re: Resources
Post by: Randomdays on November 16, 2013, 10:47:57 PM
The darkmark items on deviant are also on marvelmods, as well as more of his work.

Talking to Tomato, it looks like I'll be capturing the meshes if I want to work on them. The igb file contains the mesh as well as multiple versions of the texture at different resolutions.

To test capturing, I'll load the game up and try grabbing one of the beginning characters in their standard costume and see if it works. I'll see what kind of idle pose they have in character select or in game for a good base.

Some of the alternate outfits look like as just reskins while others might be mesh changes as well.

Wow...Lots of good stuff in there. I don't know if anyone else is interested, but personally, I would love to see the Iron Man (Hulkbuster), the Tony Stark, and the Punisher/Captain America Punisher imported to FF. I don't know if my skoping skills are up for it, but I would be glad to try and skope them to appropriate meshes.

I'll have a look at those. Playing thru the game and stuck at the moment doing the boss battle with the Kraken in Atlantis. Reflexes at my age giving me some trouble keeping up - I'm thinking I'll have to redo the keyboard assignments so all the keys are a little closer together.

Yeah, the Kraken battle on the PC was so much more difficult than it was for the PS2, that's for sure.

Post by: Randomdays on December 23, 2013, 04:47:40 PM
Finished MUA a few weeks backs and I've figured out their modeling system. I rigged a few models and put them in my Christmas release. Basically, I think I can rig almost any hero or villain in the game except the more strange ones like the Kraken. Never worked with capes either but I don't think that will be an issue. If anyone wants to see anything rigged, let me know. Now that the Christmas project is done things aren't so hectic.

Personally I'll probably keep to the rarer characters. I'm looking at the Winter soldier and maybe the Skrull Queen as possible things to rig.
Title: Re: Resources
Post by: detourne_me on December 23, 2013, 05:29:41 PM
I'll have to do a play through of that game again soon.  Currently experimenting with some X-Men Legends 2 mods.
The thing about those games is that the models have kind of low resolution graphics.
I feel as though our community can and consistently does produce higher quality work.
Although I would be pretty interested in some of the MUA models:
White tank top Wolverine
MODOK (although both Beyonders and Val's meshes are excellent)
Ultimo
Ghost Rider
Doombots
Ultron and minions
I wonder if Galactus is a full model

It's also pretty cool how things are turning around. A few years back Tommyboy was focused on making meshes for MUA and converted a bunch of his FF work for it. Now you're able to import the models into FF.

Here's a weird thought. Would you be able to rip the maps?
I think some of the smaller hub worlds, like Stark Tower would make good maps. It's been quite a few years for me, but I remember being able to turn large nif objects into playable maps by adding specific bounding boxes.

Anyway, I'm thankful you're willing to go poring over the models to share with us, man.

Title: Re: Resources
Post by: Randomdays on December 23, 2013, 10:17:46 PM
DM - It seems that even the default models and skins that came with the game are variable in quality. I've seen meshes anywhere from about 500 to 2000 vertices, and some skins are higher quality than others. Probably due to different artists working on different characters.

Agree on that many of the people on the forum have done work that looks better than the MUA characters. Same with Marvel Heroes and DCU online. That's while I'm going to mainly do characters not done already or have few versions done for FF. Requests are fine though.

Maps can be ripped. You can import to blender as 1 big model or separate them by group or material. Not sure how to do the floor texture part but since Stark Tower is a small map that might be something to look at.

Spyder - I'll look at dm's requests, including the Ultron minions.
Title: Re: Resources
Post by: Randomdays on December 24, 2013, 09:28:44 AM
Grabbed a few models to look at just to see if they're worth continuing working on. Galactus is a full body mesh - the skins was actually 2048x2048 but is knocked down to 512x512 in this pic.

Galactus's robots and Ultron's share the same mesh and are just reskins, so doing one will actually give you four.

Also shown is the Skrull queen, the Winter Soldier and Ultimo.

At present, none of these are rigged as yet.

(http://img208.imageshack.us/img208/1981/noq1.jpg) (http://imageshack.us/photo/my-images/208/noq1.jpg/)

When I tried grabbing a map, it was full detail for about 1 screen's worth of view and the rest was missing a lot of parts. The program might load data as you move. Doing Stark Tower may take a few captures to put together for a full map. Not something I'm experienced in for making it into a FF map, but if you're interested in trying, I can grab and send your way.

Wow! That's some impressive stuff there RD.
About the map, if it takes multiple captures, do you have to stitch them together in blender afterwards?
Is that possible?
No pressure at all, do you think people would be interested in such a map even?
Also it's been a few years, but I think I'd be able to turn a .nif into a map.

So far so good Random ^_^, they all look good yet great and above all they're fantastic as we speak . I really like your version of Ultron along with the robots of Galactus as well since they share the same mesh, including Skrull Queen herself which I admire the most with satisfaction, including Winter Soldier as well which he looks amazing to me, along with your version of Ultimo compared to the skin of Ultimo that I have for the Male Heavy Giant mesh by Grenadier which I had just download recently from Firtos Marvel Skins Yahoo Group is 100% superior to me and your version of Galactus which almost looks like the version from both version of the game MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 3 and ULTIMATE MARVEL VS. CAPCOM 3 is so cosmic or in my own words Random as I quote "Out of this world!" :D. Great job so far Random, I really like what you're doing in the form of your own work and I do hope that you get all of these done one way or another and hopefully we will all get the chance to play with them on :ff: in the DANGER ROOM/RUMBLE ROOM depending on which version they are all for ;). Peace out, and I'll CUL8TR :)!

All of the above MUA meshes are rigged and ready, as well as MODOK - he's not rigged, but will respond to the basic FF car kfs. Still have to do readmes and portraits before they're ready to go. Ultimo and Galactus are still human size and will need resizing as well.

Cyber, Gren's Cable worked great on the Winter Soldier, and I used it on the Ultron Minions as well.

I've been indexing all the many, many FF Marvel characters I have and there seems to be a few more that I might do since with what's out there, there are some characters with either very few or no meshes done at all.

Possible further imports, just offhand - Sgt Fury - Don't think he's been done, or any of the Howling Commandos?

                                                             Paibok - never been done?

                                                             Titannus - never been done?

                                                             Byrrah - never been done?

                                                             Doomsman - never been done?

Ice and Fire Giants, Asgard Gods,

Lilandra, Destroyer, Deathbird, Imperial Guard members, Ulik,

Curse, Dragon Man, Grey Gargoyle, Mandarin, Mephisto

Shiar, Aim, Atlantian and Skrull Soldiers,

Lockjaw, Inhumans, Baron Mordo, Krang, Namorita

Hey Random,

Any chance you might be able to import and rig from the X-Men Legends games?

I'm still hoping that The Blob, Sugarman, Nightcrawler w/Swords, and even some Sentinels might be possible at some future point.

and I'd love to see Ultimate Thor, Green Goblin, and Juggernaut (I love the design of the new armor) from MUA2 done as well.

Thanks for all of the experimenting you have been doing and loved all of the MUA characters you have given us thus far.

CQ - I'll have to go through the Marvel Mods site, but I think all the X-Men Legends and MUA 2 main characters have been converted for MUA1. Not sure if that was just heroes or included bad guys as well.

Title: Re: Resources
Post by: Randomdays on January 04, 2014, 04:38:21 PM
Looks like making a map would be extremely difficult for MUA. Not only are you limited to whats on screen for grabbing map items, but as you move about a map the camera and map rotate, which would mean each map piece would have to be rotated as well as aligned with the rest.

Meanwhile....... Here's a screen shot of the Atlantian characters from MUA. I left Namor out as there are already some very good meshes and skins for him for FF already.

Attuma, Byrrah, Krang and Tigershark on the top row. Namorita, Atlantian Armored, Atlantian Champion and Atlantian Defender on the bottom. It also looks like there might be multiple skins for the 3 Atlantian warrior types.

These are all unrigged at the moment.

Atlantis Support - There's a few more characters from Namor's neighborhood that I don't think anyone has ever done. Putting them out there in case someone wanted to tackle them; Links and pics off Namor's wiki page.

Lady Dorma, Naga, Dr Dorcus, Piranha, Karthon the Questor, Tyrak, Giganto, Destiny, Ikthon, Captain Barracuda, Betty Dean, Vashti, Tamari

New possible resource - http://xnalara.deviantart.com/gallery/31744518

Just found it with 180 pages of models. Not sure whats usable or not, but looking into it. One thing I'm looking for are some Dr Strange characters. Shuma Gorath and Sattanish are in Marvel vs Capcom 3. I'm surprised that no one has done Umar or Nightmare yet that I know of.

Attuma is rigged to Gren's Triton for the swimming keys. I was going to do Byrrah to them as well, but he has a cape. Are there any swimmers out there with a cape? Also, Krang has a gun on his belt. Are there any swimmer keys with a gun that appears/ disappears?

Texas Jack's Abe Sapian mesh has Gun and Swimming Keyframes. No Gun Butt in holster though.

The 8 Atlantis themed characters are uploaded, rigged to Gren's Triton kfs. Readmes and portraits done.

Removed the gun from Krang's mesh.  Also, could not get any of the caped meshes I tried to work with Byrrah so he's uncaped for now. Maybe a skoper can get him to work with a cape.

Forget to mention it in Krang's readme, but the head bubble is from Tommyboy's Krang mesh.

I missed this post before, I don't think there are any swimmers currently floating around with capes on them, but if you wanted a land based variant, I could probably help you out there. If you wanted a swimming Byrrah, if I got the cape on, it would probably be static, non-animated, but I would be willing to try.

Man, you hit the jackpot with this site, I could make a list that would go on for days with what I saw, and I just barely scratched the surface. I can't wait to get home after work to check this out some more.

I've only gone thorugh the animals section so far and found a few I could use that looked good. On the others, I basically just the DBZ characters in 2 or 3 different areas.

Krang on land based cape would be awesome. Maybe one of the Dr Dooms, or another gun using caped mesh since he has a pistol.

Cyber and anyone else, go ahead and make some requests if you want. I'll be finishing the 3 different mesoamerican packs, some weapon packs, and a few MUA characters, and after that I'll be slowing down abit since I'm working on some NWN imports with some people on the bioware social forums for a change of pace.

Random, you are the man! I would love to see Darkseid imported into FF, maybe on a "Male_Heavy" base if possible?

Ok, I've been working on Byrrah, and have 2 different versions, both with capes. The first is based on Tommyboy's "Superman_Tf" Mesh, and the second is based on Grenadier's "Dr Doom_Gren" Mesh, I had tried a few others first, but even though they looked ok in NifSkope, the were kind of deformed in the Character Tool. So I just have to re-skin the cape, holster, and gun. The good part is, is that once this is done, then I can just plop Krang onto these, and I'll have 2 versions of him as well, assuming there's no distortion of course, then a quick re-skin, and I should be finished.

Thanks for all the skopes Cyber.

I'm about half way through the Aztec warriors and there's at least one caped unit that could use the same kind of help when done. The Civ 5 units are still very quick to do but I've had NWN distraction s talking with people about trying to get some of the same units and animals into NWN.

Will try to get all the Civ units done this weekend as well as the couple of requests I have out on the list

With all the work that you've been doing here, I'm glad that I'm able to help you out at least a little bit. just let me know what you need, and I'll try my best to get it done.

I finished Byrrah, and am working on Krang as we speak, but he doesn't want to play nice with the Gren's Doom Mesh. So I'll try a few other options to make sure I can have the gun and cape, and then once this is done, I can go back to the Vikings and re-do those.

Also, thank you for taking requests, what you have been doing with importing all these characters is really impressive. As for that Darkseid, I know we have at least one or two dedicated meshes, but this one looks really vicious, and is different enough from the others to really stand out, and after going through the site a little more, there's a very nice looking Brainiac that I would really like to get my hands on as well.

If I might add to the wishlist,

I'd like to see Shao Khan, one of these days: http://3dmodel.domawe.com/entry/Shao-Kahn-Free-Character-3D-Model

We have Scorpion and Sub-Zero, but no evil lord of soul-consuming goodness :P

If you could rig it to male_basic, I'd be more than happy to attempt to swap it over to Grenadier's Thor mesh (I think that those animations would suit Khan very nicely)

Cyber - thanks again. Glad your computer is in good enpugh shape for skoping again

Cyber and Spyderman - you're on the list

TUE - Most are solid pieces but its fairly easy to grab a piece in Blender if you want. You just highlight the vertices of what you want to keep, a weapon, headpiece, shoulderpad, etc, delete what you don't want and export. Let me know what you're looking for.

Yeah, unfortunately, I had no choice but to get a new PC because I'm in the Credentialing Program, if I don't take the classes when I'm supposed to, I will get kicked out and have to repay all my loans in a ridiculously short amount of time. A lot of the classes required are online classes (Such as the one that I am currently in), so really, even though it wasn't in the budget, I had to have it.

I had to download and re-install everything from scratch, and I still don't have my files back from my old PC (They salvaged most, but not everything), so I'm still missing everything from the last year and a half. It would be nice to have at least the templates I had ready for different Skopes, but I will probably have to start from scratch on those.

As for providing you with Skopes, well, like I said, I will gladly do whatever I can to help you out. You are doing some amazing work bringing all of these characters into the FF Universe, so if I can contribute at least a little bit, then I'm happy to help.

Update; 17 units so far for Civ 5 Aztec, Inca and Maya for Ancient Age. Still a bunch more to do. Civ 4 also has units for these 3 plus some Polynesian units and additional units for Viking and Egyptian. Cyber is doing major work skoping those done already so I'm just putting the new ones on male basic or Green Arrow for the archers.

Not particularly FF related, but I started working with some members in the NWN community again. I've already imported a bunch of buildings last year that looked great in game and now we're looking at some of the animals. Some were pretty rough and only had placeholder skins and needed some help.  A pic below of the 1st group of animals in game plus a link to the thread for those interested.

The macuahuitl club was always an interesting weapon, to me.

A wooden club with obsidian shards as sharp as steel (so say the conquistadores).  In the hands of a normal person, it was quite a deadly weapon, but in the hands of a jaguar or one of the Aztec/Tarascan/Tlaxcalan elite, it was simply terrifying.

Screenshots of the rest of the natives. For some reason I had a hard time getting enthusiasm for the Viking meshes, but these I really enjoyed doing. They're well done and something different. A little breakup on some of the models in the viewer but should be good in game.

Cyber, if you're skoping these, the archers on Green Arrow and the rest on male_basic or male_alpha_collar as usual. The Aztec Pikeman and Maceman originally had capes.

Inca - Chariot, Composite Bowman, Horseman, Longbowman
          Knight, Longswordsman (axe), Pikeman
          Spearman, Swordsman, Warrior, Native Warrior

            Knight, Pikeman, Spearman

(http://imagizer.imageshack.us/v2/xq90/811/9hvu.jpg) (https://imageshack.com/i/mj9hvuj)

Polynesia - Archer, Chariot with spear or knife, Swordsman

Now that I'm a little more awake...WoW  :o, what a release...29 different characters!!!

As for Skoping, the Aztec Maceman, shouldn't be a problem, I should be able to use the "Crusader_Gren" Mesh as a base for it. I don't think I currently have anything that is set up to use a spear, shield, and cape, so I'll have to take a look and see what my options are.

Honestly, what you have been doing with the Egyptians and Vikings is fine with me.  I honestly don't think a static cape over a flowing cape is all that big of a deal, at least, not until it becomes available (I mean, don't go out of your way for something; what we have currently is more than enough).

AWESOME! Glad you found it.. Hopefully you can get it rigged on a Male_Heavy or something to show off his size.. since the X-Men Legends games used the Ultimate Blob which was much larger in size and had extreme superhuman strength as well.

Heck, perhaps even "Male_Rotund"

Depending on the size of the Mesh, then either Grenadier's or The Beyonder's "Blob" Meshes may work. I'm also thinking about the "Male_Hulking_Juggernaut" Mesh. I hesitate referring you to the Irrational Meshes because they are less versatile, and a little more restrictive.

Now using photobucket

Last group of MUA meshes for awhile. Doomsman (from FF #157 - http://www.comics.org/issue/28455/cover/4/), doombot, Paibok, Titanus and the Blob from X-Men Legends 2 with 4 skins. Still have to do portraits and readmes.

You can't see it here but Titanus and Doomsman have breakage in the viewer.
