Title: Windblown's fx: Polaris
Post by: windblown on March 17, 2013, 10:44:18 PM
Hey guys,
I´ve been working on some fxs for Pixie to celebrate my collaboration with Podmark to get the character done (don't miss the preview on Podmark's skins thread!).

Here are the results of my attempts:

They are a teleport self spell, a pixie dust cone and a teleport others spell.

As I've said to you already, these are really cool.

These effects will be included when the Pixie skins and skope are released.

Title: Windblown's fx: State swap effects
Post by: windblown on April 27, 2013, 09:16:35 PM
Thanks guys,

I've made two minor fx. The first one is to be used with FFX "sleep state swap", so the sleeping character shows those ZzZ while he is sleeping. The second one is to change the effect that shows when a character gets possessed. This last one tries to represent Karma's psychic energy, as she is the only character with a possession power in my game. This effect will appear in the possessed character's head instead of Tombstone's tiny skulls.

Title: Re: Windblown's fx: Wind-dancing
Post by: windblown on January 29, 2015, 01:06:51 AM
It's been a long time since I've updated this thread, but today I bring you a bunch of wind FX to go with the updated skope of Wind dancer:

Preview (http://s1300.photobucket.com/user/Windblow85/media/wind%20dancer%20v2_zpskswzuxlq.mp4.html)

I think that the third one is the only one that needs explanation, it's a melee FX (Wind dancer could fire compressed air into an enemy's eardrums to cause him vertigo). My favorite one is the cone FX.

Pixie FX pack was released with Pixie skope in Heroforce (Podmark's section), Bling! FX was released with Bling! skope (at the same site), Wind Dancer FX pack will be released with the updated skope there too, but I still have to pack them up and send them to Podmark so he can do some small skin adjustments.

In fact, Podmark and me are collaborating to bring these New X-men characters to FF, so all my skopes and FX for them will be released at his page together with his skins.

New FX to go with my last skopes:

(http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag94/Windblow85/th_Tag%20Wither%20and%20Icarus%20FX_zps2jgxiajv.mp4) (http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag94/Windblow85/Tag%20Wither%20and%20Icarus%20FX_zps2jgxiajv.mp4)

- The first FX represents Tag's psionic ability to make people run away from a person (the thug runs away from Wither here), he would say, "Tag, you're it" when he used his powers on someone, so I've added that text to the FX.

- The second FX represents Wither's death touch. I've skoped an animation for Wither where he takes off one of his gloves to use with this FX.

- The last one represents Icarus' angelic voice, which was used on one occasion to calm down a panicked Lockheed.

Post by: spydermann93 on March 23, 2015, 12:50:02 AM
Those are really neat, windblown!

Non-FX Related Question: And how did you make the Thug run away from another character?  At first, I thought that it was just an area attack, but you make it seem like Tag gave Wither an ability or something like that.
Title: Re: Windblown's fx: Tag-Wither-Icarus
Post by: windblown on March 23, 2015, 12:56:20 AM
Thanks spyder!

I gave Tag a panic melee attack with a 360º radius which only affects enemies so if he uses it in Wither, enemies will run away from him (kind of, because the thug is just panicked but the effect is similar to Tag's powers) while Wither is unaffected.

New FX pack for Wallflower, the pheromone manipulator of the New Mutants squad:

Very nice WindBlown, just out of curiosity, is the mist/smoke around her part of the Skope, or part of the FX?
Title: Re: Windblown's fx: Tag-Wither-Icarus
Post by: windblown on April 03, 2015, 03:04:37 PM
It's just an FX that I've made to be used with the 'Pheromone Field' attribute. It pops from time to time during the game.
Title: Re: Windblown's fx: Tag-Wither-Icarus
Post by: windblown on November 03, 2015, 12:18:45 AM
I've been playing with some FX and Nifskope and discovered that we can make the effects to last more time, so I've used this new information to make some temporal bubbles for Tempus and now they last during the time that her enemies are frozen in time:

(http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag94/Windblow85/th_Tempus%20FX_zpswfq6dsit.mp4) (http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag94/Windblow85/Tempus%20FX_zpswfq6dsit.mp4)

The last fx previewed is to be used with a teleport power to represent her ability to travel in time.

Here's a preview of Nature Girl during gameplay:

(http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag94/Windblow85/th_Nature%20Girl%20FX_zpsztilcixz.mp4) (http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag94/Windblow85/Nature%20Girl%20FX_zpsztilcixz.mp4)

In the first FX she calls for a bird to help her (this is my favorite one), in the second one she calls for a swarm of bees. The last animation shows her summoning a couple of bamfs to fight along her.

Nature Girl has the Summoner attribute, so she can summon a Bamf. I've given to the Bamf skope a ranged animation where he disappears for a while. In game that's the animation I've selected for a "teleport other" power, so it looks like he's teleporting the enemy away. Glad you liked it.

I've been playing with Nifskope to make some fx light up their surroundings, I thought that Dazzler would be a perfect character to try them:

That fx represents Dazzler ability of "creating a chaotic cascade of sparkling lights and colors that severely upsets other people's equilibrium", I use it with a ranged grapple power.

Here's a new fx I've made for daglob's Negasonic Teenage Warhead, an X-men student who appears in the Deadpool film as Colossus sidekick. Unlike her comics counterpart, who was a telepath/precognitive mutant, this version of the character has some kind of nuclear explosion powers which she uses to charge at her enemies with great power:

(http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag94/Windblow85/th_Negasonic_zpskavekjne.mp4) (http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag94/Windblow85/Negasonic_zpskavekjne.mp4)

Thaks guys, I'm trying to make the characters that I skope different from each other through the fx/animations.

Btw, Network's fxs have been expanded:

(http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag94/Windblow85/th_Network%20fxs_zps9uxkxnex.mp4) (http://i1300.photobucket.com/albums/ag94/Windblow85/Network%20fxs_zps9uxkxnex.mp4)

These powers should be used only in mechanical enemies, so she can control them, paralyze them or discharge their batteries. The last one of the video is the one where she summons the Blackbird for help that I previewed some weeks ago.

I have a beam for focused, long range attacks, but I was looking for a short range, wide angle optic burst. Basically a cone shaped attack. And a general optic blast, wider than the focused beam, yet not as wide as the optic burst, for medium range, medium strength attacks

WB and LP, the skope it top notch as always. I have already cooked a hero file for Reyes if anyone iss interested, i just have a couple of questions for WB. In your preview video for her FX did you use fast or normal swiftness for her cone ability? Also that specific FX can only be used from a short range and with extreme/wide angle?

It's been almost 5 years since my last fx, but yesterday I was toying with Nifskope again and I thought of doing a different fx for Polaris to give her more versatility in game. My herofiles for her was mainly electric attacks and forcefields, so I thought of adding some metal bender action and this is what I've got:

https://i.imgur.com/Ql3Cj8F.mp4

Now, she uses her magnetic powers to bring a metal beam from the distance upon her enemies.
