Title: Right click on opponent to show powers - energy bars are wrong (mods)
Post by: Lunati on December 12, 2017, 03:20:59 PM
When I right click on an opponent to show powers I noticed that the energy bars are wrong. It looks like they all shifted in horizontal alignment 'one energy bar' to the left. Hence: powers that use one, shows up as using none; using two, show up as one etcetera. Therefore it looks like an image should just be shifted in horizontal alignment 'one energy bar' to the right to fix this problem. I did check the powers by using them to see that the energy bars at the portraits of the heroes is the correct one.

I am using Windows 10, FFX 3.3, EZ FX 6.0 and the GOG.com version 2.1.0.6 of  :ffvstr:
I've found the bug to appear in when using the following mods:

This is actually a 'feature' not a bug.
If you open up FFXEdit2.exe (otherwise known as the FFX 3.0 Control Centre) you'll see some additional FFX Rules.  one of them is called Overspend Energy w/Stun Risk. It kind of tricks the game into thinking energy costs are less than what they are, that allows you to use a power at the risk of stunning yourself.
If you are wondering why such a thing exists, it was allowed in the original FF, but they took it out when they revamped the energy system for FFVTTR.

You can play around with those rules to find what styles work well for you.

Okay, thanks. So if I understand this correctly, this has been done to prevent people to be using the 'overpower' option eacht time they would like to use a power that exceeds there energy reserve?

not quite.  It allows you to use a power that requires more energy than you have - at the cost of possibly getting stunned.  it doesn't prevent anything.

Thanks, I got that now that I've seen what the 'overpower' actually does ;-) upgrading a power for the cost of an energy bar.

Too bad that you can't have both, and still see visually what the cost of energy actually is for a power and have the option to use the 'use too much power/stun' option.
