Title: Searching for ROM and Iron Man a few other highly hard to find gems lost forever
Post by: Starsky on July 16, 2019, 02:18:19 AM
I recall just before I left Freedom Force in 2006 or 2007 some really cool Marvel characters were rendered and I was able to download the following characters. They were highly detailed and I had saved them to dvd disc but misplaced them and the game with it. Been searching for the last 4 days and keep turning up nothing in my searches.
The characters I refer to is Rom and the Spaceknights. Thor & Beta Ray Bill Machine Man. Iron Man the Mark VI from the 1980's Last but not least. Silver Samurai. These characters really shined on the screen and had a lot of mobility in the joints. I went searching to all the websites and the BackinTimeMachine Archives with zero results.
This was for the Freedom Force with the game patches put in place. It ran on I think Windows XP or Vista. Such a long time ago. Feels like yesterday :( Please help. Thanks :banghead:

Do you know who specifically skinned them? That'd go a long way towards finding the specific skins you're looking for.

That said, This website (http://www.alexff.com/skinmesh_gallery.php?creator=Courtnall6&logo=C6&category=Marvel) has C6's skins for Silver Samurai, Thor, Beta Ray Bill, and Silver Centurion IM (which I believe is the Mk. VI you're referring to). ROM and the spaceknights I don't know offhand, but I'll see what's available.

Edit: Bobby69 (known nowadays as Vertex) made a Rom mesh I'm looking at now, it's over on a yahoo group https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/Bobby69meshes6 . I don't see any files for other space knights on the same page, but if you know the names of ones you know exist I can see if they're in other groups.

Edit2: Nvmd, I found a TON over on https://groups.yahoo.com/neo/groups/SkipDutchMeshes/

Thanks Tomato for getting back to my request. It could be Bobby 69  :unsure:or somebody that made these but went over the line then ended up disappearing from the Internet on account of Marvel being a big bully. I do recall the characters had a shinny surfaces and the detail was amazing The meshes came with it along with the keyframes too. I think it was new a rendering engine for pc software at the time and those characters got the full treatment. Now I can't find anything. I understand Marvel did come out with their own game system close to Freedom Force a few years later in 2011 or 2012? I also had Sif  from Asgard that looked sharp. I think I had this game run on a HP Multimedia Tower then a faulty but pricey Hp Notebook after that weighed a ton and got very hot when it was used. Had a few issues with the video card built in it. Lasted only 3 years. It over heated and melted my capacitators on account a badly designed notebook I was told from the repair shop.:( Thanks for helping

I should mention when Rom flew smoke or fire came out from his exhaust pack and he was able to pull out the need tools he carried from his side. Analyzer. The Limbo Gun I think. It was just amazing . Everything about these characters had a smooth flow to them in the character tool feature when viewing them. I even had a Silver Surfer too..... :(

You know, you can ask and someone is likely to mail what you want to you, or put it on Mega or Mediafire. For instance, here:

http://www.mediafire.com/file/p3tzrr74y02hjdz/rom69_scope.zip/file

Is a scope of ROM that tries to fix a small defect in the original. It is FF1 only at this time.

Most of us have gone through trying to find old stuff or re-build their collections (somehow lost this next bit) after a hard drive crash.

Well, it's not perfect still. That's why I've never released it with my own skin.

It doesn't have ROM or Machine Man, but my Marvel Adventures mod has the other characters, I think.  It's  :ffvstr:, though.

It has a list of the remaining sites, along with the ones on The Wayback Machine that still have content.
