Title: Help needed with a new Skoped Mesh!!!
Post by: Cybertronian on April 16, 2020, 01:24:12 AM
Howdy, y'all.
I'm working on a long-overdue Skoped mesh that I'm happy to have done this much.
Years back, I created the Saturn mesh and its keyframes for my chosen avatar Saturn. (Long story short, he's a male_belt hero with a rotating ring of shape-shifting molecules orbiting diagonally around him.) I now need help with his 2nd transformation, also called "Level 3", or his "Super" or "Ascendant" form. (For now, his second mode uses Taskmaster_SixthRanger, with a soon-to-be-added pair of energy rings.
Saturn's Super mode (so far) has three energy rings on top of male_belt_muscular69. He's also using Saturn's unique keyframes, pieced together from male_speedy_kf1, male_basic_fighter_KF, and male_basic_kf3. What I need help adding is energy/fire effects from Firestorm's head and maybe Human_Torch or female_amazon_FX (Dazzler)'s lower legs/calves, though the last one is optional. The energy rings on both Saturn meshes are spheres borrowed from Energy Shield FX. I haven't learned how to compress the rotating spheres, so for now, the texture/.tga is alpha-channeled to be extra skinny.

PLEASE help me make the changes and additions I'd like to make to my mesh(-es). Thank you, and stay safe.

Howdy Cybertronian!  I've got nothing useful to offer you, but this sounds cool!  Good luck!

Will the fx have to move around too or is it just a case of putting the fx onto the mesh? I can do the second but not the first. If you send me the mesh ill take a look but no promises.

To my knowledge, I think it's just putting the FX on the mesh. What makes me interested in using Firestorm is that the flame effect does go down/out when he's KO-ed. I'm going for kind of a Super Saiyan effect, which doesn't look quite as flashy when the character's head has normal-length hair and only as much as exposure as early 90's Cyclops.
Where do I send the mesh to?

I love the concept. I'm confused by your wording and what you're asking for though. Are you trying to get the rings to rotate? If so that's easy and there's two methods. One is to have a piece that rotates on it's own. This is difficult and not suggested. The second is to have an animated texture. That easy as heck, look at any one of my releases that have a helicopter type blade on them.

The helicopter thing sounds awesome. I tried to submit a similar idea to Mattel for a MOTU contest (my Evil Warrior would've had Stratos's upper body wearing armor with a helicopter blade on his back), but my submission was late.

You've seen the Green Shield FX  (Active Defense) that looks like a big ball? Said ball is made up of 3 unique rotating spheres. (It's much easier to see when using the Leaf_Shield FX texture I created.) The inner sphere rotates in the opposite direction of the other two. All 3 of mine (2 when I eventually modify TM_SixthRanger... again) rotate in the same direction. The .tga I use is a solid strip of color. If I used something like... the number strip or wheel from the (1960s?) Game of Life, it might be easier to see what I meant. To my knowledge, the texture is (still) animated. Which is why I had to make the "ring" into a stripe.
(http://www.tennmetroplex.com/Saturn-BW.gif) <-- This is Saturn. I created him back in 1998 and have played some version of him in Freedom Force since 2002. (Sadly, I didn't learn how to try to create his ring until 2008 or 2009.) The molecules in his ring orbit his body and act as a shield but can also be summoned and reshaped into any object or weapon under about 100 lbs. Originally, I modeled his suit based on Zeo Ranger III, but later intended for it to match the color of the night sky, hence its change to indigo.

I've added it to his head.
Do you want it on the rest of his body?
Plus I had a zeo ranger base already made so updated the skin.

That looks AWESOME!
I thought about doing the calves/lower legs and maybe the lower arms, but I didn't want to overshadow the colors of the costume. Since he uses his feet to fl
For the super mode, I thought of having the whites his eyes glow sky blue (picture a cross between Stargate's Goa'uld, original Duck Tales, and one of those "daylight" bulbs), but it's hard to show that when the person's eyes are covered by a tinted visor. (Normal/Level 1 and Defensive Mode/Level 2's eyes have the glow more like Soft White bulbs or the Goa'uld in the Stargate movie and SG-1.)

The reason for all these transformations is because I originally had them planned for Freedom Force X.

Glad I got back to see the result, stellar deanjo. That MOTU contest, lol. Mine was some sort of animal thing, pretty sure I just riffed Smokey The Bear. Didn't Roboto come from that contest?
