....to delete the characters from Character tool 2 that I don't need?

you have to remove the mesh folder from the folder where it is housed

I've been moving them to another folder in the Library directory (calling them "Auxillaries"). You can make a shortcut in the Sendto list that you get when you right click a file (at least with Windows). Sometimes it "sends" the file, others it copies it and you have to erase the original. Either way works just fine.
