What kind of programs are available for scripting in :ff: and  :ffvstr: .  My stepson has just gotten interested in the game again and wants to do a mod for one or the other or both for his college class.

Thanks in advanced

It's pretty much any text editor, as scripting is Python.
I like Crimson Editor, myself.
It's free, can highlight python syntax errors for you, search/replace etc etc.
I'm sure others may have their own favourites too.

If you're going to use EZScript, don't use Crimson Editor with it because the quotation marks will mess things up.

I've listed a few editors on the FR World Wiki: http://frworld.wikispaces.com/Scripting+Tools+and+Resources

There are a few other scripting articles on FR World.
