FX making for dummys

are there any tutorials for people who want to make fx's. I'm interested in giving it a try but i have no idea where to start

I would start at the FXForce tutorial.
Currently reading: High Mage (The Spellmonger Series) by Terry Mancour
Just finished reading: Pelya (The Dralin Trilogy) by John H. Carrol
