As the thread title is a bit broad, I feel permitted to take the opportunity to air a thought I've often had about Mr. Grey.  I am perennially tempted to address him as Dr. Benton Grey (MD, of course), although I believe he holds an MA (which is, to be sure, nothing to sneeze at). 'Tis something in the institutional music of the name that seems to demand the aforementioned clinical title.

Now, had the fellow chosen "Dorian" (and opted for the "a" instead of the "e" in the surname), this conversation (with myself--always the best chats, no?) would have a wholly different colour to it indeed...

Sorry guys, it is hard being so awesome.  Sometimes you just lose track. ;)  Anyway, it seems like my inbox gets fuller quicker these days.  I only had 50 PM's in there, and I know I used to have more.  Ohh well.  Tiobe, you can call me "Dr. Grey," I'm pretty sure I can live with that. :D

It is professor Grey, these reprobates were just being goofy.  However, one day it WILL be Dr. Grey, but that will be a PhD.

At the moment, an "intro to the humanities" class, which is just about the coolest, although also just about the most insane, thing ever.  For example, today I taught on two chapters that covered the latter half of the 19th and first half of the 20th centuries.  Think about that for a moment.  In one chapter, for which I had one hour, I covered two World Wars, the Great Depression, and everyone from Eliot to Woolf, from Yeats to Kafka.  In the first part of the class, I had to shoe-horn in a section on the American Civil War, because inexplicably our textbook didn't cover it, despite it being the most significant event in American history up to that point since the Revolutionary War.  Every weekend, when I'm preparing my lecture, I'm in a state of constant panic because I just don't see hwo I can POSSIBLY cover everything that needs covering....still, this has been the most enjoyable class I've ever taught.

I feel your pain, buddy. Years ago I had to teach 600 years of history, form the Middle Ages to the (then) present in about 6 months... I March we would talk about Feudalism, and in October we would be discussing the end of the Cold War...
I'm glad to hear you're liking so much this class. There's always one that is special for us.

It's weird that so many people here are teachers because I actually like you all.
I apologize in advance for everything I say on here. I regret it immediately after clicking post.

Pfffffft.... Benton is not a teacher. He's a super villain in disguise corrupting the already soiled minds of the youth. Who knows what Aquatic propaganda he's feeding them! Say no to Benton! He must not trick the young into thinking Aquaman is cool!

And I suppose you'll condemn him to drink Premlock, eh?

Of course, this sort of idle talk is completely immaterial, for the man is a medical doctor specialising in proctology.  He's so busy proctologising that he has no time to meet the demands of being a teacher.

Benton!  Woo-hoo!

Necropost!  Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Think about it: who doesn't like a little Benton with his necroposting, eh?  Moreover, the man is still alive; shouldn't his threadly namesake enjoy an equally active life?  I'm glad we can see eye to eye on this matter. ^_^
