The steroid injection I got two weeks ago was a resounding success.

I just still haven't recovered. The weekend before the epidural I started experiencing muscle weakness in my legs, and I can still barely walk. Sometimes it's a race to see if I can get where I need to be before my legs give out. I have to use my arms to get up on my feet, so I have to be careful where I sit or I may get stuck. I don't want to even think about what would happen if I ended upon the floor (and for that reason I can't work on my computer). I can't  carry anything, I can't walk up stairs, and the doorstep to the house is like Mount Everest. I can't take care of the house, the cats, and I can barely take care of myself. All in all it's rather depressing. I go back to the doctor to see what needs to be done: wait awhile, surgery, or physical therapy.

Ohh, I'm sorry my friend.  That sounds incredibly frustrating and difficult.  I hope the doctors can find some good answers for you!  This is a small detail in all of those troubles, but maybe an automatic litter box might help with one little piece of those problems?

I'm going out on a limb and going to say that they do pt first in hopes that they can rebuild your leg strength before even thinking anything else. Just my feeling...

It's rather discouraging for the doctor to say he doesn't know and look real concerned when he says it. So, first some tests (bone scan already done just last week), then decide on a course of action. We'll see what they decide then.

Yeah, not what you want from your doctor, but I suppose it's better for him to admit it and seek an answer than bull ahead with false assumptions.  Still, not exactly encouraging.  Yet, finding answers is what medicine is all about.  I hope and pray they find good ones and soon!

In all the fuss and bother, I forgot to mention that the results of the bone scan and the CT scan was they could find no signs of cancer.

All in all, the best news.

So far this week I've once again been injected with arcane substances and shoved into giant machines that bombarded me with obscure energies and got to have electrodes stuck into me and had electricity shot through them to measure nerve conduction. The end result is that I can neither shoot electricity nor magnetism, and the only thing I've been told so far is that the neuropathy in my feet is really bad. And I still can't walk...

Man, Daglob, I'm sorry!  I hate that this continues to affect you.  Also, a little psychokinesis or aquatic telepathy just feels deserved after all this, small recompense for your troubles.  I hope that they can figure things out soon!

The test results are back.

First up what worried me, is that the neuropathy in my feet is not spreading up my legs. It is possible, but not in this case. What the doctor says is that another disk is rubbing my spine, and, instead of pain, I'm having muscle weakness. So, sometime in the near future, I get another shot of steroids (Woohoo!). The problem with this is that with Medicare I only get six shots in a 12 month period. Although, if I need a shot low on my spine, maybe they will get both places and count it was one.

DG, I'm glad you've got an answer there.  That's good.  Here's hoping the shots work out.  How many have you had so far this period?
