I'm sure this has been asked before somewhere, but what does everyone use for the relative STR of a character.  For example - I'm working on Master Man (Fawcett version) and he has been able to lift a tank, with effort.  Obviously he doesn't have Superman or Hulk power, but can lift more than an automobile.  I have the old MSH and DCH conversion charts, but am curious what everyone else thinks.

Hmm, he can lift a tank with difficulty...I'd probably place him around 6.  I'm afraid I'm not really familiar with the character, so I can't offer much more than that.

Thanks BG.  On another note he can apparently leap 1/2 mile at a time.  Is the regular leaper/jumper attribute good for this or should he get the super-leaper attribute?  The way the comic reads, he is a Hulk class leaper. Haven't played the game in a while, so I am not sure of the differences in the attributes.

And a generic question.  Are normals generally agreed to have a base of 3 in stats? Or is 2 closer to the mark?

I'd definitely give him Super-Leaper.

Well, if they are a namby-pamby civilian, I'd give them a 2, if a athletic/heroic sort, 3.

I normally give normal characters 3's, yeah.

Thugs, Cops, generic Mercs, etc.

Run-of-the-mill Civilians I give a 2 in Str and End because they don't fight very often and are just background characters anyways.

Like Benton and Spyder here, I'd give ordinary civilians just a 1 or a 2 in strength, while non-powered Superheroes tend to get a 3. If they're particularly fit or well-trained, then I'll give them Martial Artist to up their damage a bit without going into outright Superpowered or abnormally strong territory. Someone like a circus strongman or a technically non-powered hero with exceptional natural strength (like Tarzan maybe, just to give an example,) might get a 4, but anything beyond that is right out.

Yep, with FFX3 we've got some nice damage boosting options.  I've made extensive use of them in Pulp Adventures.  They're a good way to give someone extra punch without giving them inaccurate stats.

Thanks Guys.

I was thinking along those lines for stats. I'll keep the damage boosts in mind as well. It's amazing how many "normal" crime fighters made it into the super-hero genre.
