Forgive me if this one has been asked & answered but I am newly returned.

Unable to get FFX 3.3 attributes jump travel or super-leaper to work on FFvTTR

Am I just doing it wrong?

Howdy Jack, let me ask the obvious question, and we can move on from there.  Have you run the Control Center and saved, thus branding characters?

To tell the truth Benton, it's been years since I was last here, and while I have the FFX control centre, I haven't been using it because the majority of the attributes work without it.

Since I'd like to make them all work, I probably need a refresher on the control centre, I'm looking at it, but I'm not sure what to do with it.

No worries Jack.  I'm not sure this will fix your problem, but I find it often makes things work properly for me.

Just run the CC, making sure you've got it pointed at whatever directory you're using, and then click "Save."  That's it!  That process 'brands' all of the characters, assigning them a unique complex value, a number the game uses to track who is who.  That MIGHT get things working again.

Hey Benton,

So I saved directory with CC. Tested Super-leaper in the rumble room on FFX3 & I can get character to jump to buildings, objects, and other characters, but not to specific spots on the map.

Jump Travel now shows up as a command on the character itself, but when clicked on the just kinda teleports to a nearby object and knocks its self down. Not at all the way I remember it working in FF1. Maybe it just doesn't work in FFVTTR?

At any rate thanks for the tip.

Well Jack, that's progress!  I think that is actually more or less working correctly, at least according to my experience.

You can super leap to an object or character, because the option only appears on such targets.  The Jump Travel one, and SL as well, is slightly buggy in my experience.  If you leap from outside of your character's range, they'll often sort of teleport, then sometimes leap belatedly.  Someone more experienced with the inner workings of FFX might have something more substantive to offer on that front.

Yep, that is exactly what they are doing.

Thanks again.

It's been a very, very long while, but Jump Travel used to work mostly fine in FFvsTTR IIRC, as I rewrote some of the original FF1 code for the new game. Mind you, it's a complete hack, trying to simulate jumping with knockback and animation locking... A risky mix with the game's buggy physics engine.
