Hi guys. Haven't posted this list for a long while but thought I'd throw it out there again. This is the last of all the hero's I'm really looking for to complete my list. Does anyone have or would be willing to make the following. I thank you just for reading this and especially if you're willing to help at all, thank you!

You don't need a new mesh for Godspeed. You just need someone to make a skin for him and slap it on a Flash mesh. I can do that for you. I'm pretty sure I can skin Dominas too.

AnarchistsXe

That would be amazing sir. Thank you!

Helix

Having a good time...and occasionally experiencing some frustration while working on a Godspeed skin. There are so many different variations of his costume! And I have NO idea what the back of it looks like. So there is a little guesswork involved. It's a fiendishly simple, yet, subtly complex costume. But I really dig it. Give me a few days to work out the kinks - I'll get this damn thing done, I swear!

AnarchistsXe

Dude no rush. I've been hoping to see this thing for well over a year so thank you!!

I do a lot of old, obscure characters that had a different costume every issue, sometimes every other page (occasionally every other panel), so my method is to either make an average of the costumes, or just do the one I like best.

AnarchistsXe

Sounds like a solid plan. I'm not that particular.

So, here is the skin on Grenadier's CR_Tommy_Lightning mesh. It looks nice on vx_Flash_West mesh, but the body breaks into pieces in the character tool. So I'm using this one to model it.

I still have a couple of tweaks to make: the gloves are too long and the skull stripe comes down too far. But it's coming along...

I think Godspeed is done....unless anyone has any suggestions or advice on how to improve him. Please feel free to share your thoughts and ideas.

AnarchistsXe - Would you like me to convert these for FFVTR for you? And where shall I send these?

AnarchistsXe

PMed you. Thanks for this a lot.

Helix

Dominas is surprisingly difficult.

daglob

What mesh are you starting with?

Helix

Raider-1_Gren...minus all the extras.

I should have asked FF1 or FFv3R?

I've had that happen if the mesh didn't convert correctly. Running it through the converter again might fix it if that is the problem. Otherwise, maybe run the original through the converter again to see what happens.

Are deleting the pieces, or hiding them?

Seems like I had a keyframe problem like that once, also.

Cyber Burn

Really like the way that GodSpeed turned out. Great job!

BentonGrey and CyberBurn - Thank you both!!

Daglob - Hiding the pieces. But some meshes break apart in CTOOL anyway. I just meant that I was having trouble with the skin itself.

What is the difficulty? It looks good to me. I can't help but think that it might be easier to figure out if the mesh wasn't broken up. Do the meshes look right in the game? The conversion problems I had carried over into the game.

Helix

Sadly, I don't know. I haven't played the game in a couple of years. I just know that some of the meshes break apart in CTOOL. Usually, it's not bad if you hide parts as opposed to removing them, though.

AnarchistsXe

I mean I don't know the first thing about making skins or meshes but it looks damn good to me.

With rare exceptions I hide the parts instead of deleting them.

Just to let you know: my version of Nifscope ( 1.1.3  revision  36dbdefdd) updates the view every time you open the window. You can open both the graphics program and Nifscope, and usually when work on save the skin. save it, and check Nifscope. It is updated, unless it's all white , and you need to close Nifscope and save the skin, and re-open Nifscope. The first version of Nifscope I had did not do this. Also, it only updates the Standard skin.

Helix

Wait. What? You can see skins in Nifskope?

detourne_me

Totally! You can even point to a different skin folder to see how different skins look. However I found that it works best with FFVTTR meshes using .dds skins. Sometimes tgas wont show up.

I have only ever seen solid white figures. Is there a setting I need to change?

Click Render>Settings. The General tab has a choice for language, The Rendering tab has a place to set the game to autodetect game paths and select folders. Mine looks like this:

A lot of it I haven't changed since I started the program. I added the Freedom Force and 3R directories because I use the 'D' drive. I think the ./textures and ./skins/standard were already there, but, hey, I don't remember last week so...

ALSO: this may just be a quirk of my graphics card, but unless some of the textures have to be saved over themselves to, I guess, update the file type, or they show up as white. This may not be your case, though.

Also note: I'm not using the most recent version of Nifscope; I'm like an old dog having trouble using new tricks, and haven't been able to work with the newest version.

Just for fun, Check out Da Glob's Skin-A-Rama in the Skins forum and see what it looks like to put CB's Hawk and Dove scope in Nifscope.

I know this kind of wanders through several forums, but this is where it was asked about.

Helix

Argh. I'm using NifSkope 2. The layout is different. I've found where you add folders and there's an auto-detect button, but those little boxes at the bottom left of your screen aren't there. I'm trying to get it to render textures, but I've not figured it out yet. Thank you for your guidance, though, Dag!
