Shape the DCUG: The Legion
« on: June 05, 2019, 04:06:46 PM »
Howdy guys!  As any of y'all know who have been following my adventures with the DCUG, I'm currently working on gathering and building in the Legion of Superheroes.  I'm going to cast a pretty wide net, at least with the classic and Bronze Age characters, but there are some questions that I'd like the community's feedback on.  I'll use this thread for that purpose.

First off, I'm not huge about putting different versions of the same character in this iteration of the DCUG, so I'm trying to decide what to do with Ayla Ranzz, a.k.a. Light Lass and Lightning Lass.  She's had two well-known identities.  Which would y'all rather see?  Personally, Lightning Lass has always made more sense to me, but Light Lass would obviously be something different, power-wise, rather than just a copy of her brother(s).  However, if folks want one over the other, I'm happy to oblige, as it doesn't mean too much to me.

On a similar note, are there any more obscure Legion characters that folks really want to see added?  If there's someone you really want to see on there, let me know!

:EDIT: Here's a new question, folks.  Does anyone care about Tyroc?  I'm going to include him, but I'm torn about whether to use his original reality altering powers or his modern, more straight-forward sonic powers.  Anyone have an opinion?

Okay, here's the current roster I'm working on:
  • Blok
  • Bouncing Boy
  • Brainiac 5
  • Chameleon Boy
  • Chemical King
  • Colossal Boy
  • Cosmic Boy
  • Cosmic King
  • Dawnstar
  • Doctor Regulus
  • Dream Girl
  • Element Lad
  • Emerald Empress
  • Ferro Lad
  • Invisible Kid I
  • Karate Kid I
  • Lightning Lad
  • Lightning/Light Lass
  • Lightning Lord
  • Mano
  • Matter Eater Lad
  • Mon-El
  • Mordru
  • Nemesis Kid
  • Persuader
  • Phantom Girl
  • Polar Boy
  • Princess Projectra
  • Pulsar Stargrave
  • Radiation Roy
  • Saturn Girl
  • Saturn Queen
  • Shadow Lass
  • Shrinking Violet
  • Star Boy
  • Sun Boy
  • Sun Emperor
  • Tharok
  • Timber wolf
  • Time Trapper
  • Triplicate Girl
  • Tyr
  • Tyroc
  • Ultra Boy
  • Universo
  • Validus
  • Wildfire

I'd suggest Tellus and Quislet, but I'm pretty sure they don't have meshes.

Thanks for the response, Kk!  Yeah, the prerequisite is pretty much there being some resources for the characters.  I don't think I've come across them yet, but I'll double check.

I had an idea for Quislet. Let me see what I can do. Tellus would be great, but beyond my ability.

Nightlass is another one. She never technically joined the Legion or at least in the original continuity, but she still palled around with them often enough and more than deserved to be a member. And the Retroboot did finally give her proper membership status. The only iffy thing is her powers. She's got top-tier strength, but only at night or in darkness. That said, I think she can work if you give her some leeway. You could have it so that she's still fairly strong even in sunlight, but can only reach maximum strength in darkness. The darker it is, the stronger she gets.

Also just noticed you've got Tyroc in there.

Kk, ha, I know nothing about Tyroc.  I haven't gotten to his introduction yet.

Nightlass is a good suggestion.  I was already toying with introducing her and some other Substitutes, if I find the time and energy.  Nocturnal Avenger doubles strength in the dark, so that is easy enough.  What I need is some way to give her invulnerability, only in the dark.

Do you have any reference pictures of these two?

I don't appear to have ever released it, and it's probably rubbish, but it is free...

Tommy!  Great to see you, man!  Your awesome Legion mod has formed the basis for the work I'm doing with these Legion characters, and all the amazing meshes you did have given me tons of great resources.  You've done all the hard work for me already.  Thanks for that and thanks for this!

Kk, ha, yeah, he's pretty goofy looking.

Other potential Legionares: Kent Shakespeare and Celeste Rockfish from V4, and XS, Kinetix, Kid Quantum, and Thunder from the Postboot. Kent gives the team another heavy hitter, Celeste is a GL with the numbers filed off, XS gives them a speeder, Kinetix has TK, Kid Quantum can generate status fields, and Thunder has that whole legacy thing going for her.

Hey Tommy! Great to see you, I hope you’re doing well.

And i’m pretty sure we’re all in agreement that this is not rubbish.

CB is entirely right.  That mesh/skin looks pretty darn perfect, actually!

Kk, interesting suggestions.  I feel like that era/those characters are opening a can of worms that I don't know if I want to get into.  I'll keep them in mind for the future (when I might have read some of those stories and have connections to some of those characters), but I don't think, unless there is a great outcry for them, I'll worry about this for this iteration.  Thanks man!

Looking at Quislet, I'm thinking that he could possibly be modified from Tommy's "Skeets_TvLite" Mesh. (Maybe?)

That was my original idea, but I haven't made it work yet (real life keeps getting in the way).

If you remember, Angar the Screamer created hallucinations with his screams; you could use that.

C'mon, you at least read a reprint, right?

Actually, I don’t think that I’ve ever read anything with Tyroc. Though I do like XS (But that’s from reading “The Flash”) and Kid Quantum (If I remember correctly, that was from reading the “Legion Lost” series).
