Title: Timmverse Atomic Skull skin- your friendly neighborhood Revenant...
Post by: Revenant on February 02, 2007, 01:51:00 AM
Here he is, my all-time favorite Avenger.

I liked the color scheme he had in House of M, it was neutral purple all over and I tried to duplicate that here, along with his current costume.  The third skin in this pack will be his Ultimates garb; the mesh is Vertex's VX_Male_Archer.  With alpha enabling you can easily switch between the costumes (the mask will be alpha'd invisible if you select Ultimate Hawkeye, and his shades will become visible among other add-ons.)  Just realized I forgot to put on some of the straps!  Back to the Photoshop...

Fantastic work on the skin Rev

I can't say I like the costume design at all though. Clint can't seem to hit the target when designing his costumes lately.

Post by: GhostMachine on February 03, 2007, 09:06:38 AM
I have to agree with C6 about the costume design. I like the mask (and especially the fact that it has the old school smaller.....wing mask, I guess you'd call it?) and boots, and that is about it for that design. My two favorite Hawkeye costumes of all time are the one he had during Buscema's run on Avengers back around the time the Vision first appeared and the West Coast Avengers (regular series) outfit.

Various shades of purple and no dark or navy blue in sight also don't help.

Great work on the skin, though, Revenant. :)

Rev, I agree with everyone else here great work as usual. The only difference in opinion I have from some is I love that costume. One of my favorites.

Post by: Podmark on February 03, 2007, 11:59:50 AM
I'm going to have to put my vote in the "like the costume" pile. I actually skinned a varient on that from when it first appeared back in Austen's Avengers.

I've got to say the highlighting is just getting absolutely amazing. I mean, it already was, I guess the shiny metal is just making me notice it even more now.

I'll be honest, I don't even like Hawkeye. Never have. This skin though, is just great. The only thing that looks sort of weird is that strap by his crotch.

being a very amatuer archer-wannabe in real life, i'd say the leather chest piece is ment to protect his chest from accidently being zapped by the bow string when he releases. many archers wear a bracer on the inside of the wrist they hold the bow with for much the same reason. getting grazed by a bow string while fireing *hurts*

Excellent skin!  I like the new look, "one-boob bra" and all.  One criticism, and flame if you want.  The mask looks a bit big on the mesh compared to the comic. (almost Loganesque).  Is there a chance of a hex or skope to shrink the mask down?  Probably being too much of a stickler here, as the skin is fantastic as is!
Title: Re: Hawkeye skin
Post by: detourne_me on February 04, 2007, 08:31:02 AM
i think that Rev actually skoped the mask from a logan mesh...

and ironically, since everyones calling it the one boob bra, when the amazons would cut off their breast, it would be on the side that the "one boob-bra" would cover...  completely defeating the purpose of it being a bra.

I hear ya daerdevil, it is a bit big compared to the ref pics, I will fix it using the alpha of the skin so the nose and eyes are still in the correct position.  Incidentally, it is a tommyboy versatile piece!

LOL...

Last night I finished the Ultimate version and was all set to preview it, and put the pack together when... I accidentally saved the refl.tga over it!  And I strangely didn't have a backup ( I usually do being the klutz that I am)

So I have to re-do it... but on the plus side, the refl layer is still there...

EDIT: This'll also give me time to hex the bow so it looks like the one he uses in Ultimates.

i really love how you were working with alpha channels here!   i posted a little bit ago about putting a bunch of mesh pieces together and alpha'ing them out on a skin by skin basis,  and you actually acomplished it here....   this guys definately going to get a random skin in the hero file!

OK now after that tweak to the mask these skins couldn't be anymore perfect, and better yet, you've still maintained your unique Revenant style. Also I have to agree with AA on this one I do love this costume, one of my favourites. Also Ultimates is one of my favourite series so the ultimate hawkeye skin makes me a very happy chappy.

Cool... I am seriously thinking of updating more of the Ultimates so they can be switched out like this.  Now that enabling the alpha channels is so quick and easy, it can free up alot of hard drive space by consolidating the different versions.

What about these random skins?...

EDIT: Speaking of different versions, and versions that wear red shades... I've got something else coming up in that vein...

do it... you know you want too.....  heh heh heh
using mr. brdo's hero tool you can set the hero files so that random skins appear... as long as you don't edit the hero file in game (i.e. the last editing you do to the hero file is setting the skin as random in the hero editor)

Does that work with FFvs3R?  What if you have 3R exclusive attacks like cones, possession for instance?

The way I have been doing it since I've been rebuilding my hero files from scratch for FFX3.2 is do a rough version of the character then leave FFvsT3R to go to Mr. Brdo's Hero Tool for weight/body type and change the skin to random if needed. Then go back into the main game and add all of the attributes and powers that are exculsive to FFX3.2 and finally leave the game to use the FFX Control Center for the final touches before doing the Power/AI phase of the Rumble Room.

Edit: Awww... anyone have a copy of Mr Brdo's hero edior they can send me? I think my copy just somehow got corrupted and I can't find the disc that I had my backup copy on.

This hex & skin was requested by Crimson Quill... hope ya like it!  I hexed the VX_Muscular_Male onto VX_Baron_Blood's bones to utilize his more feral keyframes, which have claw attacks-aplenty.  Skin is based on the Ultimate Avengers 2 appearance of Black Panther.

Panther is uploaded to my 2nd yahoo group for now: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/revenant_skins02/files/

After Black Canary... I dunno, there are still Wanda and Pietro's ultimates skins.  Then maybe some of the villains.

I'm getting into alpha enabling, so that one mesh can become a number of hexes depending on the skin.  Detourne_me has been putting some together and i am dying to skin them...

We could even do something like a chain letter, where each person recieves the nif, adds whatever bits they need to, and releases it with a new skin to the next person, and so on... and that way build up versatile hexes for each character.

Here is Black Canary, sporting two skins, the modern costume with and without jacket (which is alpha enabled.)  Thanks pwime and Dartman X for the help with the fishnet texture!
EDIT: Also included is the alternate outfit, probably her most well-known look.

This is one alpha'd character.nif, and four skins... it's a hex of Vertex's female_heels.  I tried to alpha the hair so that one of the skins could be a ponytail version, but ran into that alpha layering problem...

-The Golden Age costume (needs some work, will have sandals also)
-Justice League Heroes /pre Infinite Crisis costume (ignore the face, it's wack)
-One Year Later costume

On the way are Ultimate Wonder Woman, 70's TV series, the Biker costume (if the alphas will be nice to me and let me put a jacket on her) and a Greek goddess costume.  Any other requests I'll gladly make, if it's possible!

there's something striking me as off about black canary's face, it's almost the generic anime girl look... very non-expresive :(

[just noticed, central wonderwoman's cheekbones are a little prominant, she looks like she's on her way to starving to death @_@ ]
Title: Re: Black Canary /Black Panther /Hawkeye
Post by: Revenant on February 14, 2007, 12:25:51 PM
You know something, you're right about Canary... I used Wonder Woman's face as a model and tried morphing it, but maybe I should just start her face from scratch.  I was going for the look of the actress who plays Nikki/Jessica on Heroes (but more cute)

Yes beware Wonder Cheekbones!!  She is probably going to team up with Ultimate Hulk's Gamma Nipples in the next Brave and Bold...

canary's hex is amazing but i love the "billboard" hexing you are doing also.

as for skins... ur stuff is always a good show. i love canary's lips but agree her eyes look a little off. and i saw that you said wonderwoman's face isn't final either so i'll let it be ;)

i missed the redtornado stuff u msgd me about. is there anywhere i can see that stuff? i'm really eager to see how it came out

Hey ips, sure.. The first pic is the final version of red Tornado.  The second is an animated gif from the middle stages, which gives you an idea of the whirlwind's motion and appearance.  I've toyed around with making a youtube video in-game, and got the footage in fraps but youtube didn't accept it

And I can't wait for Wonder Woman. But, since you are asking for requests, do you think you could manage to add a little cape to that? I'm thinking it'd be swell as Quitely's version of Superwoman (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Evil_Superwoman.jpg).

Here is the preliminary release of the Wonder Woman hex.  Keyframes version 0.1 are a seperate download, since my PC is slow making keyframe hexes, I'm going to release what I've got so far, and I'll release an updated set soon.  Also 6 skins are included (I accidentally erased my JLH skin and had to redo it, but I like the second one better now.)

Check out the second yahoo group for the download!
http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/revenant_skins02/files/

EDIT: Oops!  I totally forgot to include a preview pic of the Toga Party skin.  Oh well, i guess it's a hidden bonus skin.  You can see it on my hex editing thread  :P  The others are Golden Age, Biker Style, Standard, Justice League Heroes, and modern Superwoman.

I'll be releasing skin pack 2 which will tentatively have:
Golden Age Superwoman
Good Superwoman (from All Star Superman)
Ultimate Wonder Woman
some other Alternate universe versions (DK2, JLA: The Nail)

Trying to use the Black Canairy and the jacket is looking strange with huge white patches on it.

Hey triviaman, can you post a picture of that?  I might be able to help better if I can see it.  I just did a clean install from the yahoo group and noticed a mistake in the skins.  the JLU with jacket didn't actually have the jacket.  To fix this youself is really easy, copy these files from the folder with_jacket

jacket.tga
jacket_refl.tga
jacket_glow.tga

And paste them into the folder JLU_Style_Jacket

That solves that problem.  Let me know if that helps

GAH!

... Seriosly Im trying to think of a way to say that it is the ugliest joker I've seen without it sounding like anything but a compliment. He's totally going to become my default joker once released since Im a huge fan of the villain actually being scary.

The Joker Now?   most excellent!

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/detourne_me2/files/ (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/detourne_me2/files/)
I've uploaded preliminary keys of what i've done so far.   please keep in mind these are FAR from complete.  will update as soon as i can, it takes quite a while to port keyframes.
I hope you guys can find good use of them :) please let me know if they dont work in FF,  they don't need to be converted for FFVTTR, just like Rev's wicked hex. plug and play rules.

Okay okay the Joker was a little scary, here's something nice to look at, another work in progress:

Triviaman, about that blotchiness, I have seen it before but I can't remember the cause.  I think the game is missing a tga file.  It could also be a problem with the alphas.  Try doing a clean install and let me know if it persists.

I've seen Trivaman's problem, when I had the standard skin file missing a tga, but it was present in another skin's folder. However, once I made a hero with the other skin, saved, then restarted, it appeared fine. Still, I'd say go with the fresh install.

That Joker... holy cow. He looks positively... well mad. Like he will soon stab you.

Diana is looking nice too. Look at how little of that is actually white... and yet it looks very clean and bright. A little dark when you get down to the legs, but I guess that's only natural.

Seriously though, you keep doing these great skins and hexes just one after another. Take a break. Have a sandwich! Okay, no... I don't want to deter the amount of awesome coming in.

That modern Cheetah is awesome, but is it just me, or is she wearing crotchless pants?  Kinda defeats the purpose of pants, if you ask me.
Title: Re: Joker/ Agent Diana Prince/ Cheetah
Post by: Carravaggio on March 01, 2007, 03:44:50 PM
nah if you look at the human version you can see that she is wearing full pants made up of half leather half leopard/cheetah skin material.
Rev-you ARE on a roll. its scary how damn good these recent works are looking. with nifskope you've taken your already impressive and unique style to a whole new level, giving us detailed true to source renditions of our favourite  (or your favourite ;)) characters. thank-you and i cant wait to see whats next!

Post by: Revenant on March 01, 2007, 03:52:30 PM
Talavar, yeah the pattern on the pants accidentally turned out to be smaller scale than the one on the upper body.  I guess I'll leave it so that it looks slightly different, otherwise visually she is wearing crotchless pants, even though she's not.

I'm still getting used to this new Cheetah design.  Perhaps I'll do a third skin in the set of the Perez "nekkid" version.

Hey go to newpowerinc.com, and click meshworks.. there is a link to all the Vertex keyframes.  Try the female_brute set, it has some claw and bite attacks.  For the human Cheetah the Martial Artist set has some great moves and it would make her act different before she undergoes the transformation.

I have FFX and I set up Cheetah to transform between the two forms.

I'm planning on getting around to all of them.  Osira will be a special hex with the pyramid energy field.  Dr Cyber would need a hex as well, and some fx to simulate her growing arm beam attack.

Doctor Poison has long been on my to-do list... I'm leaning toward the new Dodson designs for all of these.

Post by: Revenant on March 05, 2007, 03:58:14 PM
Thanks cvc, the face is going to get some more work done on it.. I am using a certain ref pic for it but it's been kinda rough getting it to look right

Ultimate_evil, I used the emissive color trick in NifSkope to brighten up some of those dark areas while skinning.  I haven't tried him in game yet though.

Here are the latest skins, first using Symon's great advice for obtaining a wiremap for meshes, this Thing skin is done on the FFvs3R snow man mesh.  I'v ewanted to do it for a while, I'm a big fan of skinning the Irrational Meshes, and using non-male_basic based ones wherever possible (I like variety I guess)  Then Hawkgirl Kendra (based on app in JL by Ed Benes) done on a Vertex female with heels and shirt, and a bunch of Frankensteined pieces.  I think female characters wearing heels is important.  I don't know why.

OH MAN YES! YOU USED THE SNOWMAN MESH!

I kept planning different characters to skin on this mesh (check out my Super Cracker redesign in the art forum) but not doing them... It's great, really. The idle pose is awesome.

Wire maps for those meshes, eh? That would be very useful indeed. As some may know, I share your love of skinning Irrational's meshes. I like it when a character has a very unique shape and keyframes. It just gives them more personality.

As for the skin itself... It's very bright. I looks almost... more cartoony than your regular skins. It's a little awkward in places, like the mouth, but I don't know if that's just because of the mesh or not. The rocks look more like cracked clay than jutting stone. That may be due to artist reference. Still though, it's pretty good.
Gosh, I say pretty good, but that's in context of your skinning specifically. In general context it flippin'... wait for it... rocks! Still, if you went back and touched it up, you could probably give it that extra kick. At least add shadows to wear the body suit ends. Don't be all forgetting shadows like I keep doing...

Hawkgirl is also darn awesome. I don't think I have any feeble pointers for that one.

Hey the new skins should be released fairly soon, Diana Prince needs some straps and her pouches need to be re-skinned, also the legs haven't gotten their highlights done.

Hawkgirl is ready, she is compatible with Vertex's keyframes, but detourne_me is planning a hexed set just for her.

I'm going to fix the stone texture on the Thing, roughen it up a bit and he'll be done.  It's in the draft stage right now (anybody who has Photoshop will recognize the "stained glass" filter... ) For his human appearance, what would he be wearing?  The space suit, civilian garb, or his FF costume?

I'm not sure if I can release the Hal hex yet... I have to ask Renegade if he minds!   :paplease the skin will be available soon though.  I basically added Male_Muscular to Renegade's Hal_GL mesh, since Ed Benes and Ethan Van Scriver's version is looking pretty buff these days, and I really like their penciling... Then I realized he needed some hair, so I looked to Ink's Cyclops mesh to match the current hairstyle.  And of course the glowing billboards for his ring and the icon on his chest that seems to float above the one on his uniform.  It looks weird, but distinctive.  Anybody with NifSkope can easily make this.

Vixen needs some finishing touches, her belt needs one more piece b/c it looks like the parts are just floating.

He's the fastest man alive... My first attempt at a Timmverse-style skin, The Flash!

Thanks to Volsung for the mesh, and Detourne_Me for the excellent hex!  I read an interview with the shows designers, where they talked about Flash's costume.  They wanted it to look sleek, like a velour material.. so I put highlights in places off the peak of each form, as in the ref pics... and in the areas right where the shadow starts.  The gold parts of his costume seem to have a dull shine, not quite metallic.  This skin was pure fun, there are so many characters in the DCAU that we can crank out...  Now I gotta get back to work on those JLA skins....

EDIT: Volsung is going to work on a Flash mesh, which will be a modified version specifically for him!  Look for it...

Jakew,
Could you do me a favor and not use 'gay' in a pejorative way. My brother is gay and I dont see it as a negitive thing. Thanks for understanding.

As for the skin.....AMAZING. This Timmverse thing is great. Why didnt anyone think of it sooner? I cant wait to try these out.

Done^^ Rev corrected his skin too.
He'll probably get Bullet's keyframes temporarily.

An accurate unique mesh for every of his Timm_skin.

Arlecchino ... thanks for singling me out. I didn't say being gay was a negative thing. I implied that a man (myself as a matter of fact) commenting on how nice another man's boots look may have homosexual implications, while stating what I liked about a skin for a computer game.

I hope you understand now. Thanks for the moral policing and sharing that info about your brother.

I wasnt singling you out, I was just commenting on somthing I saw that I wanted to address.
It seems my 'tone' came off as aggressive.
Sorry.
That wasnt my intention nor was it to make you feel like I was being the "moral police". Please know my intention wasnt hostile in any way. While I understand the point you were attempting to make, it was still a pretty big sterotype. Not all gay men comment on each others fasion. I would have posted the same to you if you had said;
"This sounds so black......but you are a real baller." Its the same type of generalization.
Sorry for jacking this thread. If you want to discuss this further please PM me.

I wouldn't say tone down the shadow lines, Rev. At least not that much. They help to give a more hand drawn feel. I think I like Wally's first head though, with the circle highlight. The added boot detail is great, though.

Wondie, I'm digging. Like you said, it's unfinished, so I'll save comments.

And Benton... if you mean from the 3/4 view, I think that might actually be her cheek.

in progess: Flash, Wonder Woman, Manhunter Robot, The Joker, Harley Quinn, Batman (with C6)?

Manhunters are eclipsed!

the release list is correct.Except you forgot Doc destiny and Eclipso now (plus some other in progress).
C6 is quite overworked, he agreed to let Rev deal with the caped crusader.
Since I focus on my teamwork with Rev and other stuff,I guess I should give him Harley Quinn (And all her and joker's weaponery) to skin, otherwise she'll be delayed too much.
I'll practice texturing/skinning on something else later^^ (Such as the F Reborn mod?)

Yup, that's a lot of model in progress, but they really deserve Ackbar skills^^

Hey monkeyman, it is very much less time-consuming, because you work with limited colors and details.  For this style, nearly any mass you deal with has two tones - shadow and highlight.  In my other skins ,to achieve realism, i used many more shades of color... highlight, midtone, shadow, reflected light, etc..

For details, these character designs appear really streamlined compared to the designs you'd see in printed comics (especially hyper-real ones like The Ultimates, or mega-detailed stuff by guys like Ethan Van Scriver or George Perez...)  I think it was done to make them easier to animate for the TV series.  Also, the body doesn't show every single muscle so I don't have to slave over keeping the anatomy as accurate.

These are hands-down some of my favorite skins in my time playing this game and being apart of the community. I'm serious.

The style isn't far from something seen in a Jack Kirby book, and that's something I enjoy very much.

Also, are these available yet? I don't know where to look.

I'm not really a huge fan of the DC comicverse since following their history of characters is as complicated as trying to understand everything in the Marvelverse read backwards in a mirror. But I grew to love the DC Animated world as I watched the cartoons over the years and probably wanted to play more within that world as the official games just failed miserably. But I'm more then thrilled to see that the FF community is bringing the Timmverse to life with these meshes, skins, voice packs, and upcoming Mods.  :D

Great work guys and keep 'em coming.

Thanks to the Timmverse - I'm happy to be reading and gaming with DC again.

Title: Re: Manhunters and Eclipso skins - your friendly neighborhood Revenant...
Post by: Volsung on May 11, 2007, 03:01:46 AM
Atomic skull? Sure! Even if he's discreet in the tv show he's strong and got a good design.

We'd like to give accurate unique animations for every timmverse meshes (that's why they're still unreleased)

Revenant is a machine^^ that's not easy to follow him.
I can go faster than that, it's just that Timmverse is not my only actual 3d project.(in mind at least)
And i've got to prepare an eventual huge change in my life.
But little by little our methods are more effective.
And the more I create models, the more i can edit those to create new ones.Like a bank of mold^^

Yesterday Rev already sent me 3 skin base! to create models (and he got more in stock!)
That's exactly what I hoped. With such a cadance ,it's not naive to consider a mod.

but...
Accurate unique animation is way longer than texturing+meshing.
Ackbar won't be able to follow.Until he lowers the quality and focus only on some animations...
A tragedy^^
Maybe later, we'll consider objects ,vehicules and buildings. Those got no animations. So he can catch up with us.

(Ackbar already got the forum url,he can sign up anytime)

QuoteAre you guys planning a mod?

If our character banks increase quickly, custom animations are just to their first step.(Most of them are not even rigged to a skeleton)I wish you could see Ackbar's work^^ Simple dodging is so individualized^^
We try to not think much about a mod before reaching a certain phase (Rev and I are heavy dreamers, who easely lost contact with reality...)

Maps with Timmverse atmosphere are important (with timmverse vehicules and civilians)
Recently Rev went Berserk, running on walls, talking about Metropolis, Central City, Gotham City , Arkham Asylum ,Paradise Island map...

I'm more than comfortable with map making methods, and organisation but I still completely ignore FFVTTR contraints or nomenclature ^^ I'll take a look at FFVTTR documents.

And about a mod we didn't thought of a plotline yet.(even if ezscript offers good prospect with rumble room fight). We'd have to hire reinforcement^^

On the other hand maybe we should think about a concrete purpose.
If that's rumble room fight we can continue to pick Timmverse character randomly.
But if we want a precise plot, maybe we should list the priority characters instead moving from one thing to another.

It's a matter of lucidity and feasibility or even necessity

I think I myself am leaning towards a straight-up Rumble Room brawl mod, because I don't have much experience playing mods, and don't know the first thing about scripting them.  Once we are bored from making all the characters, and have nothing else to do, we can dream up a plotline and a mod?

Maybe for the Rumble Room we can do some small-scale DCAU maps.  I was thinking about the ones you listed, plus War World, Apokalypse, Paradise Island with the gate to Tarterus open (battle Hades and/or Faust with an army of skeleton warriors!) The Watchtower.. Maybe an outer space map with some floating, destructible asteroids?

Yeah I sure do get enthusiastic.  But once I learn how to make a map with nifSkope.. watch out!

Maybe an expert modder will lend their hand, if we go that route?

wonderwoman, martian manhunter, and mongul are the ones i'm gunning for when theyre released.the good thing about these meshes are their kf's will be top notch and picked just for them.if AMAZO is done will you give him morphing abilities;like mace appears in hand, wings pop out when flying,ect...?a armored luther and dr fate would be awsome.not rushing you guys just excited over your awsome work.Question...are you going to release them all together or let loose a few along the way?

I added a reflection layer to Timm_Male_Basic using NifSkope, and did a John Stewart skin to take advantage of it.  With the reflection he looks pretty cool, more like the animated series depicted his shimmering costume, and this mesh has keyframes!  (Diablo keyframes  ^_^ )I just want to confer with Volsung, and see if he would like to customize a John Stewart mesh before thinking about releasing him.

Title: Re: Manhunters and Eclipso skins - your friendly neighborhood Revenant...
Post by: Revenant on May 17, 2007, 11:41:02 PM
Yeah definitely.. any character that has a shine to them would look cool.  Wonder Woman, Flash, the Android Manhunters... it only takes about 5 minutes in NifSkope.  I just wanna wait until the final mesh is done, otherwise I'll have to do the process over again.  But they'll all benefit from it.  (Green Lantern skin is on the Timm_Male_Basic mesh, which is rigged with bones and keyframes.. the rest are pure nifs, without animations)

Post by: Volsung on May 18, 2007, 04:17:25 AM
That's really nice.It add so much to the mesh.My former ff characters were using reflection. So stupid of me to not use it on those timmverse ones.
^^I may very slightly edit john. The head especially (strange lips!)

If you want to test reflection on the other models, than I should send you the final nifs (since I made most of the renders, I often add the finishing touches).I can spare you time by including reflection in all the models^^

Post by: Revenant on May 18, 2007, 02:45:39 PM
Yeah it sounds like adding refl to the meshes in Max is a very easy proccess, more so than NifSkope of course.. up to now, i've been skinning baseskins-only on the Timm nifs.  My usual process involves working with refl layers for shiny parts.  The Timm meshes will all get those treatments, according to Volsung, but up til now, we've been concentrating on the bases and sculpting the forms.  Refls are like a finishing touch.. but i wanted to preview John Stewart with it.... It makes me want to do one of Jonn J'onnz as well to see how the cape looks.  With Jonn, it might be a bit too much though.  But Wonder Woman looks great with refl ennabled!

Title: Re: Manhunters and Eclipso skins - your friendly neighborhood Revenant...

I actually thought J'Onn looked fine mesh wise... I just assumed he had a bulkier body than everybody. But, yeah, that isn't really keeping in line with the JLU feel. As for refl... J'Onn doesn't really need it. Maybe a bit on the cape disks, but that's it. Still, it's a good thing to have on meshes (as well as glow), just in case.

And, I'm going to be honest... seeing the JLU basic next to Superman or the more developed meshes, the basic looks a bit out of proportion too. The waist too small. The legs seem to have an odd spread. It's just got a very different feel.

Ack, I'm getting off topic. That's a sweet Stewart.

Guys nothing is frozen in^^.You're right about Martian manhunter's head i'll fix this before animation.

Speaking about animation , export finally worked. The joker seems as happy as a clam at high tide in FFVTTR.The only drawback is Ackbar relative slowness. He still don't have the motivation that Rev and I got.
(the one that make us pass our night and weekend in front of a computer screen while our youth vanish, our hair turns gray and loss , and our goiter+spare tire bulge.I haaaate youuu aaaaaall!)
Mhhh.. seriously, it's obvious. Animations is the longest step.

I guess Rev made his John's captures by using the character tool.Which got a wrong perspective.
But you guys are right, the basic was the first and of course the more shapeless.

You can't hope of a Green lantern with diablo's keyframes.
Since, as soon as I change a mesh I must 're-physique' him.

So if the 'physique' is lost I may as well work strongly on the mesh.
Adding the ring, and using the kind of arms that our current models got.Arms that are not welded to the torso.(easier physique, and avoid some weird distorsion during some moves.)Chopping arms is barbaric but the illusion is good in FFVTTR^^

It's not a matter of motivation. I try to make good animation, in a reasonable time... I can work faster, but I don't want to make poor animation for that, It would not have any interest for me.
The Joker is very particular, all of his movement show his personality. But for the next characters, I will probably be able to recycle the animation from one character to an other, so I will work faster.

Nope.It was capital to check if FFVTTR constraints were respected. It was just a preventive early export.
We didn't want to face an error in the bones once the animations done.
Sorry.Joker is still in progress

Actually the character is composed by a single mesh. You won't be able to isolate the hair.

Thanks IPS.. so you didn't see the 2part episode "Fury"?
Aresia is loosely based off the comics Fury (daughter of Earth2 Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor), but the resemblance stops at her appearance.
Aresia was orphaned at a young age by a senseless war, and washed up on the shores of Themyscira, where she was trained in the Amazon way alongside Diana. She harbors resentment towards all men, and sneaks off the island with enough gold and knowlege of chemical warfare to threaten all the men of the world with a killer poison gas that only affects males.
Weirdly, I just posted that same spoiler in the DC message boards!

I have crude beta versions but not the finished skins that I previewed.  So I will be working on them once I get a few more Timmverse skins in the can for Volsung..

Sorry to anybody that was waiting on them, I wasn't sure if they were gone for good.. on the plus side, the Hal Jordan skin is still around and I'll be releasing that!

Oh no, lost?! I was actually looking forward to that Diana Prince skin.

That Hal Jordon was the one with the glowing chest icon, correct? I would love to take a look at that hex, and see what's up.

As for the hair, yeah Vol I would have used it as a solid piece on the head. I guess I won't be able to now. Would it be difficult for you to make a more stripped down version of that mesh, without the crown arm bands, and shin guards? If it's a hassle, no big deal, but I would really really love a female_basic version with that hairdo.

That will be easier if I cut the hair and weld it on a female basic.
The top of the hair are combed back because of the diadem.Such an haircut could be weird without being legitimated by an hair-band.
Anyway it won't take long.I'll see what I can do...When it will be possible.
But that's a kind of request^^ Kingpin and other past request could rise from the grave to haunt me!

Thanks everybody.. I should have a bit of free time now, to put together the skins that didn't get released.

Diana Prince - I have to re-do the hex and skin
Vixen - I have to re-do the hex and skin
Hal Jordan - Skin is fine, and the hex is really easy to do

Then for the Wonder-deprived, I'll be working on some more Wonder Woman related stuff.  These will be hexes and skins of the relaunch versions.  I'll be doing Nemesis and Donna Troy as well as the villains.

Of course stay tuned for more Timmverse stuff as well from Volsung, Ackbar and company!!

Excellent Batman! This thread really bugs me, because every time I check on it, I want to play with these Timm characters!

I agree with Ultimate Evil ... Darkseid is off. It may be the mesh ... maybe the waist is too skinny and the arms too tapered?

Aw scarletwitchlover... it might be possible to hex something similar using FF1 parts.  I can look into it.  But dontcha wanna get FFvs3R?  Its graphics engine and FX are so much more eye-popping!

Well my friend, with gorgeous meshes and skins such as yours and the other talented people in the communinty, I get more tempted everyday to purchase the FFTTR.... :D

UltimateEvil, Jakew, you're right. We focused so much on the head that we forget the rest.
I'll fix him as soon as possible. That's a mesh error only. But for my plea, my work doesn't restrict to mesh only^^.I also add some usefull roughed guidelines to Rev textures :P

(By the way the pics of your animated Darkseid comes from the superman tv show. The JL one is a bit different)

Did we rushed too much on Deadshot too?

Totally cool! :( The waiting game is killing me though. But I suppose with custom animations it just takes time.

Post by: Volsung on May 31, 2007, 07:38:39 AM
It's killing us too!

We got actually 16 characters.
Brainiac (actually he got Grenadier's animations)
Superman (actually he got Grenadier's animations)
Joker (Ackbar's working on him)
Harley Quinn
Flash
WonderWoman
Doc Destiny
Manhunter
Eclipso
Martian Manhunter
Mongul
Aresia
Darkseid (needs some fixing)
Batman
Deadshot
Green Lantern (needs some fixing)

we got 3 other (mysterious) characters in progress. And Rev got at least another 1 in mind.

Next week, "Oldelbastos" (Ackbar's animator colleague) will join us.
There's only one problem...For now he'll only be able to work on those DC models for... 2 weeks...

I can animate, but we must be lucid, I guess you guys don't want this pack of character to be completed in 2009.
So we'll assign a specific character to Oldelbastos.
And after that rev and I complete all the models in progress, I'll begin to mix animations from the official/released max files.
(Grenadier's,Irrationnal's)What about the brawling animations from my Kamenriders/kikaider^^
Ips^^ I'll use the wondy max files that you sent me too

At least, we can try to give unique idle and melee_idle animations animations.(Sure Style! Batman needs a stance with all the cape covering him)

Meh... Batman seems off to me, for a couple of reasons. Firstly, the area around the mask needs to be reworked... If you'll look at the mask on the character sheet, the mask is much more angular, and juts out a little bit.

The refl is also bugging me... it seems like it needs to be moved ever so slightly to the left. I don't know how that's possible, if it even is, but I'd try eithor altering the refl file, or moving the omni light over a tad.

And finally, Volsung, it looks like the refl is acting really wonky around Batman's hands. I'd try adding a smooth modifier and see if that fixes it...

Darkseid update
(http://volsung.free.fr/Reborn/TAS29.jpg)

Tomato , for batsy, you're talking about the area between the mask and the skin on the face?

Sadly for the refl we can't do anything, the light is only used as dummy that carry the texture for the reflection, moving it won't change the reflection.
For the hands the only way to prevent the strange look would be to unwrap the hand texture coordinates in one single piece.Since that's irrationnal unwrap,so the thumb is separated.

The only solution would be that Rev edit his mask map (the one that specify the reflection intensity ) so it avoid critical areas

Nice Darkseid Volsung!

For Batman, I see what your saying Tomato.. The hands should be an easy fix, I can just accomplish the look using the regular texture, without so much reflection.  Also to center the reflection on his cape, possibly i can adjust the lightmap file itself, to compensate for the omni light?

I can't believe no-one has mentioned Deadshot ... how very cool! (he's one of my favourite mainstream DC characters ... who got a nice amount of love in the Timm animated series, despite being a hard character to integrate into a kids cartoon). Kudos!

EDIT: checked Bats in my Character Tool, and the reflection looks perfectly centered (?).  Maybe it was the omni lights after all.  For my working nif, I copied the lights over from an existing mesh.  The nifs I get from Volsung don't seem to have any Omni lights.  Maybe the viewer that Volsung is using has the lights in a different position than the ones I'm copying, producing the shifted reflection?

Quick question Revenant, I went back through your thread, so maybe I missed it, but have any of these been released yet?   I know Volsung released the Superman/Braniac 2 pack and the Timm_Basic meshes, but have any of the others been release?   Don't mean to bug, just enthusiastic and curious.   Thanks.

Only Supes/Brainiac 2 have been released to my knowledge. The skins are coming out with the meshes when the meshes are done.

The flame looks great in game!

I've been quite busy last weeks because of a big job attempt in another country...that I failed.
Revenant skins feeled lonely.
And now I'll continue monitoring animations from Ackbar and Oldelbastos but i've got to stop FFVTTR stuff for some weeks...at best to the 24 of june, at worst to the 8 of july ...Some priorities take me away...

Hey Rev, I was wondering ... are you going to do skins for the other Timmverse meshes people have skoped and placed online (like Dr Polaris, Copperhead, Aquaman, etc)?
