Title: Lag Issues?
Post by: laughing paradox on February 07, 2007, 01:04:19 AM
Has anyone encountered lag issues when playing FFX3.1 for  :ffvstr:?

When I play the regular version of the game, it works fine. However, when I use FFX, the game lags like a mofo.

I took off the sound and set the video option to low, but it doesn't change a thing.

Anyone have any insight on this problem?

I had the same problem when testing an alpha of liberty bay yesterday. But I thought it was because I didn't reboot my computer for a long time.

Ok, I found out some information on FFX3 slowing down my game. It seems there were more updates that WEREN'T on www.fundamentzero.com (http://www.fundamentzero.com).

It seems I need to get the 3.03, 3.04, and 3.1.2a updates for FFX3.

Anyone know where I can get those? I know Epimethee was hosting them on his sitep but that site is down and but I can't seem to find them at all now.

Well, you COULD just get FFX 3.2, which has all those things, and more lag-reducing measures, built in from the get-go.  If you download the .dat fixes from the bug thread, you should be good to go.

It worked like a charm. Thanks so much.

Sometimes I feel like I'm giving myself more problems to overcome. ;)

Dumb question ... but where do I get the patches (I'm using FFvTTR)?

Also, do these patches fix things such as the momentary slow-down when someone uses the Telekinesis attribute?

This is what I did, and mine is working quite well.

First, I downloaded FFX 3.0, then the 3.0 bug fix, then FFX 3.1 from www.fundamentzero.com (http://www.fundamentzero.com).

After that, I downloaded FFX 3.2 beta from http://libertybay.freedomforceforever.com/ffx.htm (http://libertybay.freedomforceforever.com/ffx.htm).

From there, I downloaded the .dat files from the bug thread, second page, in the Mod forum.

You should be good to go with no lagging at all. I hope it works out!

And I am pretty sure you can skip the first step. FFX 3.2 doesn't need the previous versions to install.

Confirmed.  All previous versions of FFX were built into 3.2 from the start.  You don't need to download anything else, other than the .dat fix.

While the (standalone) FFX 3.2 tends to improve performances noticeably, an FFX game will always be inherently more lag-prone than a standard game, as there is a LOT more going on. One aspect you can help is to keep performance in mind when creating character and selecting them for missions: some attributes will slow the game down much more than others, such as the Flight-variant attributes (well, many of these particular attributes are much faster in FFX 3.2 than in 3.0); also, the more characters, and the more FFX attributes for each character, the worse the lag.
