Quite good, DJ. Dr. Omega looks great!
Nice work DJ, I rather like Plutoman...can't quite place it, but something about that skin is pretty cool.
Was every one doing a Captain Pluto skin? I like the hair on Doc Omega pretty cool
Love Doc Omega .... are there any other meshes/skins for Top Ten around besides this and Atoman at Freedom Asylum?
the doc omega skin is looking cool!
and thx for the skin dj
Yeah, looking nice. Doctor Omega's neckline seems a bit blurred, but I think that's probably from the screenshot itself. His muted tones look very nice.
And Plutoman looks pretty sweet. It's creepy how he has no mouth like that.
The man everyone has been waiting for...Rorschach! Seven faces and TWELVE animated textures for moving face parts....I'll setup somewhere so folks can download it while Syn works on updating the Asylum. Once it's up I'll inform everyone where to get it! Note: This is for FFVTTR only!

Four of the faces are exact copies from the comic...numbers 1, 3, 5, and 7 come from the comic!

That's my question, too. I recently found out that the director of 300 maybe be making a film adaptation of Watchmen, and that made me think of having the Watchmen in FF.
Silk Spectre, Comedian, Nite-Owl, Dr. Manhattan and Ozymandius would be awesome in Rumble mode.
Comedian, Nite-Owl, and Dr. Manhattan have all been skinned.....I don't remember by who, and they were on a site now gone.....but I think I still have them at least.
SOOO GOOD!
DJ great job on Rorshach!

very nice Rorschach DJ. The detail in the suit is amazing, the overcoat is awesome, and the faces...very very well done. The constant switching is a nice touch. Lots of variety.
It could also prove amusing if the the happy face was present while Rorschach takes a huge punch, etc, in the rumble room.

oh my gosh a cigar!
Sorry if I sound watchmen obsessed ... but have you ever considered doing Comedian in his Vietnam war era costume ... with a cigar? That would rock.
Love the cigar, DJ. also the washed out colours make the skin fit your style, as if Unko was guest starring in your world, and was 'drawn' appropriately.
excellent work, mate!
Hey, Rorschach from the Watchmen! Excellent! Very nice work on the faces with great variety in the masks. Do any of the other Watchmen characters exist anywhere? Perhaps Dr. Manhattan or the Comedian?

It's a consideration but if ye look at the Vietnam era costume, he's got two semiauto pistols strapped in holsters and I've ran into a bit of trouble getting the meshes to work after being Skoped to that look. I'll continue tinkering though.

I mentioned it on the other boards, but I still love this take on my avatar. It's ridiculously awesome.
Well, thanks to Ren putting out his perfect Captain_America_Classic mesh, I bring ye Steve Rogers, The Captain. Now some will say that that's just US Agent, but their wrong. See there's three distinct differences. One is the shield (US Agent never carried a red, white and blue shield), another is that US Agent's costume doesn't have a star on the back (this one does) and the third is the man in the costume. Look for it to be posted on Freedom Asylum in the next couple days.
cool! us agent capt!
This is dang cool... Dang cool.
Now I don't actually know enough about Cap lore to know the real difference between USAgent (doesn't smile?), Cap, or this costume... But I don't even care. It's a cool looking costume, and really I just want to see him bunch some bad guys.

Cap Lore 101: During the 80s or so, Steve Rogers was striped of the Captain America uniform, name and shield by the goverment because he didn't want to follow orders by what he considered questionable people. They gave the uniform to John Walker, the former Super-Patriot, who while he would follow orders, also was a bit overly aggressive. During the time Walker was Captain America, Steve Rogers continued his adventuring career as The Captain, wearing the above costume. Later on, the goverment decided that Rogers was the best possbile for to be Captain America and reinstated him. Walker was given a version of The Captain's uniform along with a new shield and dubbed The US Agent. Now ye have some Cap Lore. Oh man....I'm a real freakin geek...and to think that I was considering doing Rogers during his time as The Nomad....
-DJ
Alrighty...for those wondering what the difference between The Captain and US Agent are...well...'ere ye go.

Okay...now to something a bit different. Some of ye might remember the old Wild Card skin/original I did some time back...well, I decided to revist the character and kinda update his look while keeping as close to the original idea as possible. So, though, it doesn't look that much different at first glance but if ye look close enough ye can see alot of differences in technique.

This skin is both much better and slightly worse, in my opinion. The technique is definately better, as seen by the fact that the buttons are no longer just blobs of color. However, with the suit(just the white sections, the undershirt and tie are fine) it looks like you went a bit too Blur-happy. I'd go back and make certain areas sharper and more contrasted.
Overall though? Much better. Love the facework
Well I had some time the other day and thought I'd throw together a random face...mainly becuase I 'aven't skinned a face from scratch in quite a while (I keep a selection of faces that I made moons ago that I use normally). SO without any idea what I wanted to make or how it would look in the end..this is what happened.

Sorry for my bad English. Dont mind mistakes, please.
Cool stuff. I like that chin strap, and the details look very nice.
The only thing is the red of the shield looks a bit awkward to me, but I'd really like to see the refl on it in motion before I talk about that.
That other face looks pretty darn nice. I'd probably add a bit of a darker tone into all the shadows, though. It would give that little extra kick. I tend to always make things not quite contrasty enough, and then realize afterwards, so I go back and do it.
that is "uber" cool lol

Name for him is Stahlhelm, which is German for Steel Helmet. It's based off of the name that the Nazi's gave a group of retired WWI German vets that supported the Nazi view that the Treaty of Versailles was Germany's worst move ever...or at least that's the gist of it...I think (Hmmm...must check the book to remind myself of the name basis..).
As for a Cap-Communist or Nazi-Superman....I might go for it...not sure though just yet. Right now I'm a bit enthralled with getting Ow_tiobe's mod skins done and then I'll see what I do from there. Expect more Nazi-inspired characters, though, becuase right now I'm extremely enthralled in their uniforms and heirarchy..along with all things WWII.

I've been looking for a reason to do a skin on Beyonder's Modok mesh and now I have it...but as usual I'm haivng the same old worries that I have on every other skin: does teh face look good enough? (Yeah, I know, I've been doing this since FF began and I'm still worried over getting faces right...how lame is that?) Anyways, 'eres what I have right now...now understand the skin is in a REALLY early stage so things could change...except that face if it passes mustard. SO does it pass??

ah i'm so jealous! Gummiband is the perfect bland of GA costume and military dress, excellent work! i especially like the red gloves and the half band around his midsection, great designs
nice work on the hair too, and his face. i like the grimmer, less grimacing face. makes him look very serious.

I did Shocktrooper for the last Artistic Challenge. The theme was "evolution", so he evolved into Storm Trooper. If the Soldier2 mesh didn't have the gun and had different animations, it would be perfect for that (the gasmask can be handled or perhaps scoped on).
In my Champions campaign, I had Nazi Ninjas with super speed (super-types laugh at shuriken unless they are moving at mach 3).
I should really start scrolling through the skin section more often. I love the design on Herr Gummiband, the only thing I might add is some red to the boots (but not too much) it would tie the whole costume meeting ss uniform closer together.

I had originally tried something very similiar on an earlier version of this skin but it made the red on the pants then looked like it just kinda ran together with the boots. I still might go back and consider slapping some read on it. Also the uniform is not an SS Uniform it's actually based off of the Wehrmacht Panzer uniform (the eagle being on the chest section gives it away as Wehrmacht. SS uniforms usually have the eagle on the arm instead) with a few additions here and there. A bit of history there but it really doesn't matter at all.
This looks like a very well-thought work, really. You can tell there has been a previous process of thinking how to create a team in which each member compliments each other quite well in battle. And then, a process of trying to come up with something new, different, while maintaining the traditional archetypes.
Herr Gummiband looks amazing. And I can actually picture him as a FFv3R Blitzkrieg ally...

Three main things I love about theis skin DJ:
The face" perfect has that weathered, hardass look, like the guy has seen more than a few conflicts. He is not handsome eiether, he looks very real in that regard.
The hair, slightly receding, slightly hitler-esque, limp and antiquated
the costume: Looks like a german soldier lined up a bareknuckle fight, shed his uniform shirt and got down to business. Meanwhile the cuffed boots and chest symbol scream costumed superhuman. I think you have a perfect blend of uniform, real clothes adn hero costume here.
Top stuff, as always mate!

hey, i don't know if anybody's seen it before, but here in korea there is a company called SMEX, and they make clothes.
one kid was wearing a shirt in class that said "SMEX: The Breakfast of Champions" i laughed so hard.

For those wondering, where's the refl...well there isn't any. The reason is that I based this character concept off of an actual German Panzer. Historically most of the German Panzers were painted with a non-reflective paint when they left the manufactuerer, so that the shine of the metal didn't give away the tanks position from either the air or the ground. Thus no refl.
Major thanks to Tommyboy and Grenadier for the pieces I used to 'Skope this together. Without them this character would've never seen the light of day. And now off to create more Nazis!!
Wow!
well done.
this is probably the most innovative Nazi villain design I've seen in a looong time! The panzer was such a powerful weapon that its a shame it isn't really used enough. i can think of i think two other ewxamples , a teen titans villain (i think) and one of the scientists from The Forty-Niners.
im really looking forward to this playing with this guy.

Ahhh...Herr Panzer from The Forty-Niners. The one character that all ye ever got to see of him was his feet and his remains from what Die Eisen Maske and Gromolko did to him. I wish they had played that character up more than they did. And i agree...Panzers should be used more often for Nazi characters, along with the Stuka and the Nebelwerfer/V1s...they all were some much of what the Nazi offensive was about.
That tankman is amazing. Excellent work DJ!
This my friend, is what happens when pure awesomeness is consolidated in a skin. I love how you took the Ultimate Iron Man pieces, but used them in a way that wasn't completely obvious. That's not really easy with Character-specific meshes, but you pulled it off nicely.
Excellent work on the skope and skin  . However "Der Panzermenschlich" is total gobbledigook. I suggest either "Panzermann" (Tankman) or "Der menschliche Panzer" (The human tank).
That Panzer man is a masterwork! Great job, it's so realistic, and good call on not using a refl layer.
dude...dude.
Seriously that is the best skin ever! what a great design, i wasn't sure what to expect from the nazi in a can, but whatever it was i never imagined anything that good.
You really have outdone you self, m'man, i am suitably impressed and in awe!
What are the parts from, Ultimate Ironman and Superboy Prime?
Loving the grimy version as well, great idea to do them both. Man this collaboration is far exceeding my expectations and hopes, again, fantastic stuff, DJ!

If ye think this is the best yet Car, just wait until ye see what else I have up my sleeve. And don't worry...ye weren't the only one who wasn't sure what to expect from the nazi in a can...I spent weeks trying to think something up and get the stuff to fit together right. As for the parts...the body (male_muscular) and the silver tubing is from the Superboy Prime mesh and the feet, lower arms, pelvis and lower legs are from Ultimate Ironman.....other than the helmet (which is from the MACH I mesh) the rest is from the Iron_Man_Mk21 mesh.

i love it!!
The magic symbols down one arm look great. Brilliant stuff Dj, as usual :) its lil things like the rim of the hat reflecting, the detail on the belt buckle and the crispness of the pouches and pockets that give your stuff that extra WOW factor.
Like i said via PM you went in a COMPLETELY different direction with him than i was thinking, but it works perfectly. He looks ancient, powerful and arrogant and that pic of him 'casting a spell' says it all. i can well imagine in his way this guy could be the most powerful and dangerous of all the (as yet still unnamed) team.
Nice hat.

Ummm..actually those symbols down that one arm are actually a sleeve patch that some Nazi troops wore: means he's been a Nazi Party Member Prior to January 30, 1933. As for the rest of the uniform's bits...the awards on his chest are as follows (order as they appear from left to right): Medal for Length of Military Service, Entry into Sudetenland, Prussian Life-Saving Medal and the Silesian Eagle ('19-'20 Fighting vs Poland). The cuff title might be the closest to being considered magical because it's the cuff title of the SS Lieberstante Adolf Hitler division which started off being the Fuhrer's bodyguards whcih were the most dangerous and best trained guys in the group. Course that's all just history...but ye are right about this guy being perhaps the most dangerous and powerful member of the team.
such a great looking skin. it's gonna be a shame when i fry him with the human torch, then wash him out with namor! ^_^
Great design on the new nazi spellcaster!
He is intimidating and has that commanding presence.
There can be no doubt, he is the best choice to be the leader of the group.
If you add in a cape, he kinda reminds me of M. Bison from the video game Street Fighter 2. Nice!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M._Bison
I love the idea and execution but have you thought of adding a magical belt buckle or something to show his connection to the occult more clearly?

I originally had thought about adding an amulet to him but it really doesn't fit the character's background real well..though I am considering adding a floating book to him like Style did with the Doc Strange 'Skope.
Aw man you gotta do the book thing, for real. That would look mad :D

Anyways, great skin. I Like how you reversed the colors
Really nice re-interpretation of Unko DJ. Juxtaposing the colours was a brilliant idea.
BTW, have you decided when those Nazis you previewed a while back are going to see the light of day?
Well I like it, I don't understand the M motif.
I remember this contest! Didn't know when I'd see other entries.
Yeah, the reversal looks great. That, plus all the addition of black gloves makes the costume seem a whole lot darker. Sort of a "black ops" thing. Looks really cool, and if I end up getting that Champions Online game when it comes out I will definitely save a costume slot for something similar.
EDIT: And AA? The "M" thing you think you are seeing is just an illusion created by the standard uniform we all decided on. You can see this thread (http://meshmatters.awardspace.com/forum/index.php?topic=80.0) for further info. (Might have to skip ahead a few pages.)

Brilliant :) I love seeing a familiar face. Nice work on he highlights, however a little bit of crit. He seems a bit blurry all over, especially at the seams. For instance, where the mask joins the shirt it's very unclear.

But what do I say besides that it's great? I can't really see anything I would fix up... except wait. Is that C6's standard face? Better not be.

No...it's C6's base face with a few real world add-ons...look at the lines around his mouth/nose...see them...then look at his eyes...see the wrinkles...haha...caught ye!
Yep...I'm back with two mroe skins.
First up, Car and my Nazi team's robotic behemoth (he's about the same height as Galactus), die Eisen Soldat.

...and as ye guys have probably heard, Car and I are collabing on Texans. He's got the heroes and I've got the true favorites...the villians. So allow me to introduce the first villian of my team: Stampede, the muscled African-American speedster!

Both of them are very very nice.
DJ,
I really like the look of the robot. I especially like the textures you used and is the emblem a skoped part? Anyway, I didn't think ANYONE would ever skin that mesh, so congrats on being the first one to do so after Syn.
Stampede looks good as well. I really don't have much to say about him. So...*disappears*

Nope, the emblem is not skoped on...that is a true skinned on piece.

The way that the swastika just comes out, awesome. I thought it was a piece skoped on as well.
Very, very nice. Actually, you know what I like more than the over textures used on the robot? The incredibly subtle textures you used on Stampede. Barely noticeble, but they really give it that feeling of actual materials. The design is cool, too. He looks awesome.
And, of course, the robot is a giant nazi robot, so it rules.
Good ones DJ
I'm all for free speech and opinions, but if you don't put Dj in the upper rank of skinners in your mind, then you are just plain wrong. Every time he posts he pushes what he does another step further.
Brilliant stuff.
i have to agree with unko, great use of textures! stampedes clothes look great and he wouldnt look nearly as tough if he had spandex-looking clothes.
Amazing work there DJ! What mesh is that robot and where can I get me one? It doesn't look familiar at all...
syn's robot from my "heroes" mod. It was up on FA before, "Freedom asylum down?".
Love them, DJ. There is not much that I can say about the robot. Absolute excellence! Just my opinion, but I feel the bare chest under Stampede's jacket (shirt?) is too bare. Have you thought of adding either some bling or maybe even a wife beater t-shirt?
On a side note, I can't wait to get my hands on these Texans....

Hey don't forget to put ye self up there too! I mean what with ye face work...ye make me look so second rate comparedly.

Hmmm...I don't know...I was thinking about putting some chest hair on him but I'm not quite sure though.
Maybe a bit of chest hair.
Personally, I thought it was a unique and original look... Then I realized it was based on a Power Man mesh. Took me a while thought!
That robot is gorgeous :)
Your texture work is inspirational. Great job!
I really like the steel work on the mecha but the black speedster seems weird to me. He doesn't read as a bad guy to me at all. In fact if I didn't read what you wrote I would have no clue.
Also this might be just me but his face, skirt, pants, and boots all look like they are made out of the same material. Did you texturize his skin?

I texturized his skin and everything with different textures, however due to Character Viewer they all seem to come out very similair. The boots have a snake type texture to them, the skin has well a skin texture and the shirt and pants have two different fabric textures. I also wanted to make sure he didn't exactly look like a bad guy becuase he is the newest member of the villian team and isn't actually sure he wants to be a villian. Think like Nocturne when she was a member of the Brotherhood of Evil in X-Men. She didn't knwo she was in a villianous team until that very moment they attacked the X-Men and that's waht I'm playing up with this guy. His bio when it's done...*crosses his fingers*...will explain that out.

Just another Nazi for Car and my collection, Schwarz Maske:
I've had this one sitting on my comp for quite some time, thus she has no texturing on her, and Car and I decided she'd be perfect to use as Nite Owl's sidekick.
-DJ
nite owl has better taste in side kicks.cant wait for all these show cases to be released.i see a major good v.s evil war brewing.
Nice work DJ. The only thing I'm kinda not diggin is her hair color. It just looks like she's a "super" dirty blonde (almost like theres a hint of green in there as well). :P Maybe make it a little lighter...like a very pale blonde.
That is hawt!
Oh yeah!
Now that's a sidekick I would want.
I don't disagree about trying platinum blonde, though. It might end up not looking like how you want, but... it's so darn awesome. Up to you!
While I really like the idea, when you actually put the two together they don't look like they would be partners. The costume of a sidekick usually compliments the hero's costume. Nite Owl has the cape and he's completely black leather and she's a lot of cameo/hard cotton and a leather mask. In fact the mask looks like afterthought of the sidekick idea.
As far as the hair, even though it has that dirty "I bleach my own hair" look that could work for the character's personality. Like she's not naturally blonde but she does so to appear more Aryan.
This is a big difference between DJ's and Carr's skins for this team. DJ's characters are all in uniform, but Carr's tend to have more iconic costumes. I chalked it up to Carr's being sort of the more showy propaganday members, whereas DJ's are the sorts that get down and dirty and are more involved for tactical purposes. Where this lass would fit would be, perhaps, a recently joined member of the "super" team. Nite Owl either gets saddled with her, or chooses her for one reason or another (and I can think of a few), but she has yet to receive a flash costume, instead getting only a mask to reflect her status.
GRANTED, that's just me rationalizing it away. I do agree that it doesn't match up, and would rather see her in something more akin to a Black Canary or Warrior Woman type outfit.
One thing I can suggest is skoping on a pouch for those pouches on her chest. I'm an advocate of using all 3D parts where possible.

Wow, Unko, ye read my mind about this lass being a newer member who Nite Owl gets stuck with. As for the costume, the reason is she's a former Nazi party member standard bearer and the Nazis wish to have her stay in that outfit. That and the fact that she is more of the public face for Nite Owl, seeing as he's more of a stealth specialist, the Nazis would like to see her more in the line of the Party outfit.

Then why the mask?
From what you described she sounds more like she is the Val Cooper to Nite Owl's X-Factor instead of a sidekick.

Well, she also goes out on missions as well, so she has to keep up with the group as well. That and it looks better than no mask...I mean, she looks a bit bland without it.
Hmm...thinking about it...the mask kinda doesn't make sense. The rest of these Swaztika heads aren't wearing masks...maybe sunglasses might be a solution if you're worried about her not standing out...little dark red ones or shiny black. ;)
So all know, Car and I are currently contemplating what to do with Shwarze Maske to alieviate the probs ye have mentioned. Whether it be a brand new look or a change of who see kicks with is unknown but as soon as we decide I'll drop a note here.
-DJ
[edit] And now for the answer to what nobody really seems to care about: Shwarze Maske is no longer Nite Owl's sidekick, she's now Stahlhelm's sidekick!
Another Western villian to go up against Car's superteam. Welcome Sharpshooter.

Very good catch, Benton...I say that becuase the face was based of of Eli Walsh's character...ye know the "Ugly" in "The Good, The Bad and the Ugly".
Ohh, awesome DJ, I can see the resemblance to Tuco (sp?).
