I have been trying to install many fx into FFvTTR with no success. My guess is that they only work in FF. Where can I get fx for FFvTTR?
actually, most fx for ff1 work fine in ffvttr if you install them correctly. Anyway, I only know of me and conduit that have done fx exclusively for ffvttr. Also, there's an ezfx for FFVTTR on alexff.com. Some of my older fx are here (http://www.dognoodle99.cjb.net/dognoodle/Premonitor.html)
Note: Dog's site has funny loading habits, so if it doesnt work, try again later.
Really? Then how do you install them correctly? I have tried many different fx and none of them show up. Do I have to merge dats after I install them?
No, you don't have to merge dats. Of course, I'm assuming you're not messing with FFX3 or its expansions at all.
Anyway, my step by step guide:
Quote
- Ok, here's what I did. Using the catastrophe fx (http://www.fxforce.com/RNR/Catastrophe%20Blast.zip) as an example, I unzip the file and check out the contents. Once I recognize what's in there, I open the readme as a general guideline.
- I place all the tgas here: Freedom Force vs The 3rd Reich\Data\Art\library\fx\_textures
- I place the contents of the sound folder here: Freedom Force vs The 3rd Reich\Data\Sounds\Powers
- I place the nif folder here: Freedom Force vs The 3rd Reich\Data\Art\library\fx\generic
- Once all of that is complete, I open ffedit and navigate to the fx tab.
- I click new and enter the name of the fx
- I browse to the location of the fx (or type it in manually)
- I enter the name of the fx
- I set up the fx's properties
And for all my hardwork, I have this:

That's exactly what I am doing but the fx doesn't show up. I am using FFX 3, isn't everyone?
Make sure you set FFEdit to the FFX 3 folder.
If you don't, you'll just install the fx into the non-modded game, and the fx won't show up in FFX.
what cat said. FFX and FFVTTR don't share dats (or in simpler terms, fx, sounds, etc.). Other than reinstalling fx one by one into FFX that you've already installed, the simpler way is just to merge the ffx fx dat with the ffvttr dat...if you think you're up to it.
Man, this is driving me nuts. The process is simple but it is still not working for me. Can you guys go to this link http://www.fxforce.com/MB7ENT.html#UltCap_shieldthrow and try installing this fx. This is the one that I tried to install and only got the last part of the fx to show up.
...I already reported that this fx had an error and you needed to find another one or replace the messed up nifs in an earlier statement...your last fx thread to be exact.
Got it working. Thanks for help guys.
