Title: Couple of questions
Post by: Blitzgott on April 03, 2007, 05:33:38 PM
I was wondering if there is any way to play in both the city landmarks and liberty park maps other than the mini-mods. Is there? How?

Also, I just installed Human Top's tank mini-mod (the one that is like a regular rumble room session, only a tank spawns on the map along with the other enemies) and it doesn't seem to be compatible with FFX. I can play it normally, but I can't use FFX powers or attributes.

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure how those minimod maps are set up, but it should be easily transferable to any other mod you want to play it in (FFX included).

As for the tank minimod (im not sure what that is), but do you have it installed in the ffvttr folder or the ffx folder? FFVTTR and all other mods are independent of each other...so if you have something installed in FFVTTR but not in FFX, then it won't appear in FFX....if ya catch my drift.

Anyway, I hope someone more knowledgeable about your question lends a hand to ya.

To get the mini-mod maps to work with other rumble room modes, you need to add all of the skirmish markers.    There should be a tutorial around here somewhere, but you can open up one of the other rumble room maps in the editor and look at what markers they have on them.

The tank mod probably doesn't initialize the ffx files, so no, it won't work.  It could probably be adapted to ffx easily enough, but I'd have to see the file first.

Hey! Thanks a bunch, M25! I managed somehow. It was just as you said: all that had to be done was adding the markers.

If you want to see if something can be done about the tank mod, you can get it on Human Ton's Yahoo! Groups. Here's the URL, in case you don't know: http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/humantonsmaps/ (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/humantonsmaps/)

Edit: Fixing mispelling of Human Ton's nickname. Sorry for messing up two times. =X

Like M25 says, the tank rumble room script doesn't initialize FFX--it dates from before FFX for :ffvstr: was released. It should be easy to fix, though (I'd do it right now except Yahoo doesn't seem to want to let me download files at the moment and I'm not sure where my backup copy is.)

OK, I've added an updated a FFX-enabled version of the tank script to my Yahoo group:

http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/humantonsmaps/files/Rumble%20Room%20Modes/ (http://games.groups.yahoo.com/group/humantonsmaps/files/Rumble%20Room%20Modes/)

(I also found a bug I never noticed before, namely that the tank doesn't appear if the map uses the short way of specifying multiplayer spawn points--i.e. "spawn_1" instead of "spawn_11" "spawn_12" etc.)

The tank attacks your characters (and you have to destroy it as well as all the enemies to win the mission.)
