Title: Invincible the movie
Post by: Dr.Volt on May 25, 2007, 01:21:19 PM
Hey, have you guys seen this: http://www.silverbulletcomicbooks.com/news/110999685670840.htm (http://www.silverbulletcomicbooks.com/news/110999685670840.htm)
:Apparently there very well may be an Invincible movie in the future.  And Kirkman is said to be writing the screen play...so hopefully it won't vary too greatly from the comic book.  Sweet!

unfortunately, i can see this film being really cheesy.

Plus, the way the comic reads ... you couldn't make a film out of it. If I remember, the first two chapters are G rated material ... but when THE BIG REVEAL ABOUT A CERTAIN CHARACTER eventually occurs, it becomes quite violent. Lots of dismemberment. It reads great in comic-form, because the change in tone is so left of field. Can't see it happening as a studio-backed film, though.

You know, I could see this working. Invincible is one of those great books that has a lot of subversive fun with the classic comic-book tropes. The big studios have proven willing to do this before, with things like Sky High and My Super Ex-Girlfriend. Despite the violence of certain parts of the comic, it's still pretty light-hearted. With Kirkman writing it, it'll be interesting to see how the studio plays it, or if it's one of those things where the commissioning exec thumbed through the first few issues and said "oh, hey, it's a superhero teen comedy, like Sky High" and didn't read any further.
