Title: 'Design my next Circus Infamous brute' contest
Post by: MikeB7 on June 14, 2007, 01:53:48 AM
:( Poor Beulah, she's never really gotten her act together.  While it's been fun weirding people out with her look, the powersets just don't work for me anymore.  Unfortunately, she doesn't fit into the powersets I want to try next, NRG/Fire.  Seeing that I've exhausted my creativity making toons anymore, I'm coming to you all for help replacing her in the Circus Infamous.  And I bring bribery!

The character will be an NRG/Fire brute who flies.  I got the Steadfast Protection: Knockback protection IO, so he won't have to have acrobatics.  He'll be more of a fluid brute, using that sweet Whirling Hands animation with Blazing Aura to attract the crowds.

The costume and general concept are real important to whether or not I'll play the character.  This will be someone I hopefully want to play often.

Please throw out any ideas you may have.  Pics of potential costumes to help with ideas would be awesome too.  If I use your costume, I'll totally throw two million to any character you want, hero or villain.  If I use bits and pieces from multiple people, I'll throw money your way too.  Or owe you a favor in-game.  Or maybe I'll take credit and forget about the money!  :P

The Circus needs your help in finding it's next member!  It's like a reality show or something!  Help!

If someone makes a lion tamer you could be the lion that jumps through a flaming hoop, only to have his mane catch fire...

Thanks GDay - you can always be counted on to help out.   :)  Alaric already has Leo the Lion in CI, though.

I had an idea - the haunted house operator.  That could give some fun costume options, recreating horror film icons.  They'd be in flame, sure, but at this point I'm just too impatient.   ;)

The costume can always be changed later, all I need is a name now.  I looked in the thesaurus for synonyms of horror/fear etc, but no concrete ideas have sprung up yet.  Any good horror-type naming schemes/ideas?  I figure he'd start out with a generic carnival barker suit getup to kick him off.  But the concept could allow for any number of monsterous looks.

Somebody do something before I name him The Heebee-Jeebie!

You could always do a bearded lady too... heh.

I'd probably go with a name like Karloff or Lugosi. If you go with Bella Lugosi, you could mock up a Morticia Adams look nicely (though the skirt would be a pain, and it would have to be a female toon).

Lessee...  You could call him The Wax Worker, given that a house of horrors often includes wax sculptures.  Or if that's not sinister enough... you could go with Ivan Igor.  Not only does the name carry natural connotations of horror, but it's a tip of the hat to the main character in a 1933 horror film, "The Mystery of the Wax Museum."

Or you could just call him, Li'l Bram's Stoker.

At any rate, had the original challenge remained open, I would have envisioned a sort of Arabian fire-eater/fire-dancer.  I'd opt for the standard Male, and not the Male Huge frame.  Bare, muscled chest with tattoos, bald head, handlebar mustache (hence the more slender frame, to avoid confusion with Bruno), and one of the poofy pants options with slippers.

Oooh, that's nice too.  I like both the Arabian fire-dancer and Karloff ideas.  It's all still up in the air, so more ideas are certainly welcome.

Both ideas are great -- I wonder though if the Wax Museum guy would be too similar to Candy Butcher for you?

Couple of brainstorms to throw out at you:

For the Arabian fire-dancer
:
Al-JaFyre, or something like that.

Other firey ideas:
Feuer Meister - Translates boringly to "fire master" but, y'know, German makes everything sound more imposing.

Matchpoint - I know that it makes you think of tennis, but I just like how it sounds. :P

That's it; I'm burned out for now (heh-heh)....

Thanks to Viking for the concept and thanks to the teaming today (Tort/Meej/Pyre/Camma/Ephy) for help throwing out names.  Gonna roll The Sultan of Flame tonight when I wake up.  The concept just fit all around with the flames and the fluidity of whirling hands, not to mention the flying.  Verrrry verrry tired now.

Figured you'd like to see the guy, Viking.  He's lvl 20 thanks to 2XP weekend - and looks like he's gonna kick much butt.  His three costumes at the moment (original / fez! :) / genie-kinda-look)

Thanks again, I owe ya!  :D

He looks very cool. If there was a turban hat in the game you would be set.

Awesome, dude.  Glad you're enjoying the concept.  The surgeon's cap as a makeshift fez isn't half-bad, either.  Still, it would be neat if they eventually came out with a true tasseled fez or turban option...
