I don't know how many other 'Fight Club' fans are out there, but I just saw this http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1024715/ (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1024715/) on IBDB. The movie is called 'Choke', based on another Chuck Palahniuk book of the same title. As far as Palahniuks books go, this one is up there with Fight Club. The movie stars Sam Rockwell, and is apparently the directoral debut for an actor named Clark Gregg. I understand it will be screened at Sundance this February and released later this year.
Anyhow, just thought I'd share that just in case anybody else would be just as excited as I am!
That should be different at least, yeah, I can see myself seeing it.
Loved the book, especially since I could relate to the protagonist (like him, I'm a medical school drop-out... thought that I could change the world by going into the bizarro world of computer science, psychopharmacology, and outsider art and being a general dilettante). I'll probably steer clear of the the movie until the reviews come in, though... I can't remember the last time I ended up wholeheartedly liking the film version of a book I liked.
I enjoy Fight Club the movie much more than I enjoyed the book (I only read it once). What makes the movie so awesome is that it accomplishes what the book didn't and it had a great team of directors and actors and a good script. It also helped that I was studying critical theory at the time i saw the movie...and I couldn't quite understand Sadre.
I'll give Choke a try though.
Fight Club is one of the better adaptations I have seen, though as always, the book is better - especially the ending.
IF anyone is curious know a little more about Clark Gregg, he was a cast member of the show "The New Adventures of Old Christine" which starred Julia Louise Dryfuss. Mr. Gregg is also the husband of Jennifer Grey who is best known from the movies "Dirty Dancing" and "Ferris Bueller's Day Off".
sounds like a good movie.
