Title: Spider-Man: Web of Shadows
Post by: JeyNyce on July 02, 2008, 06:33:20 AM
I don't know if a topic was posted about this game, but it looks good so far.

Looks good, but I can't seem to register for the forum.  Plus being the Rock Band fanboy that I am, I have a grudge against Activision in general.  Let's hope they finally figure out that people want unlockable costumes and characters.  It seems after the initial spider-man for the PS1, they completely scrapped that whole concept.

1) Both of those covers suck
2) Both of those covers are brightly coloured on a white background. What's the subtitle of the game again? Oh yeah-- Web of Shadows. That totally makes sense.

Worst. Promo. Ever.

I totally agree.  But the second one (with Wolvie and Venom) especially sucks.  Notice the disclaimer though, they don't have to go with the one that the public chooses.  Hopefully they have a few others that won't be so lousy on the backburner.

QuoteActivision shall not be bound by the outcome of the community vote and Activision's decision(s) and selection(s) shall be final and binding.

Sounds like a US presidential election! Eh? Yeah... that's political humor and it's fresh and in your face.

I hope this game is better than those boxes, I think a picture of the big building with webs on it would be cool. I don't think I'll cast a non-vote either way, it's what's inside the box that counts. That's right, the disc art.

Yarg.

Those are... those are bad.  #2 is painfully bad.  What was the art department thinking?

I kind of like the first one, except for the white background. As was already pointed out, having a white background on a game with SHADOWS in the title is pretty ignorant. The second one...meh.

Last I checked the 2 cover art was winning, probably because of Venom and Wolverine   <_<

I couldn't help myself and voted for #2.  It really has cheese written all over that cover.  I think they could improve it by splashing some 80s style neon pink and green lettering on it.

Looks like most reviewers are giving it a mediocre score. That's to bad it had major potential. I'll still get it but only after it's around $20.

yeah, I'm not surprised at the mediocre reception. I will also wait till it gets cut in price. After watching videos of the game, I could just tell why it's mediocre. It honestly just looks like the Spider-Man 3 game with a new story. Now, I'm one of the few who liked that game, but they've made a lot of these sandbox Spidey games now, and this one just looks like the same exact thing again with the same strengths and weaknesses, which is fun swinging around the city, and everything else is repetitive and dull.  <_<

plus, that box art is terrible. They had a contest for two really bad covers a while back and I see the worse of the two won...

The only one out of our family who was excited about this game was our 9 year old. That should say something...

Looking at the review, it seems to be a pretty good game.  I'm still if-y about picking this one up.

I'm excited about this game! Looks great to me! I'm especially physched about mid swing combat! I see i'm alone on this one so, I'm gonna go back to my room and write a hit song called "alone in my principles"

it strange reviews seem to either trash it or praise it, there is no middle ground

Why does Spidey need the symbiote to help him lift and throw a car? If he can press 10 tons over his head shouldn't he be able to pick up and throw a car no problem? I hate it when game developers screw up the little things about a character they are making a game about.

I'll probably get this game, but money is kinda tight right now, plus I have to finish Lego Batman & Saints Row.

It's repetitive... and I totally love it ^^;
I used to love webbing in spider-man 2 despite its limits but that web of shadows is sooo much heady!
