Has anyone read this? I'm pretty curios about it and wanted to know if it was any good.
don't even question it. elephantmen is awesome.
the art is fantastic! the early issues had fillins by tom scioli (wwho drew the freedom force stuff) and the current artist Moritat is so excellent, he and the cover artist Ladronn are european and have that same european moebius quality, think highly detailed almost painted looking artwork.
umm, as for the writing, it does dwell a bit on "sins of the past" type stuff, but it isn't really preachy. the stories are pretty modular and "done in one" issue. there are some pretty good references to films like blade runner and current society too.
i highly recommend it.
Thanks DM. :)
Which title do you think I should pick up first? I'm thinking Mystery City since it's only 5 dollars. But, is that the series start up?
I'm actually glad someone brought this book up. While I've never bought this book, there's a certain cover to the book that I absolutely love in concept, and I'd been meaning to get a chance to mention it to someone. I'm not sure if I posting a link would be okay, as the cover is slightly risque. It shows an attractive girl with pigtails in her underwear and a t-shirt painting, and she is asking "But is it art?". I'm not 100% sure it was used as the final cover. Anyway, I just love the concept of that cover because (in my eyes), it's meant to deconstruct sexuality in comics versus artistic integrity. At least that's my take on it.
