I went camping this last weekend. I was totally and delightfully off the grid. Driving home Sunday afternoon and evening I was driving home and listening to NPR and not once did I hear a whisper of this. Then the bail-out failed and yadda yadda and tonight I go to Rotten Tomatoes to look at a review for a movie and found out that Paul-freaking-Newman died four days ago!
Bad enough economic BS washed him out of the headlines in less than 24 hours, but nobody here saw fit to comment on the passing of one of the most iconic actors of the last 40 years!?!?!?
That's all they've been talking about here all weekend. Of course, he is somewhat of a local legend here in Connecticut.
That's weird cause I had the exact same camping, got back and no mention of it type of weekend as well.
Its kind of ironic that such a classy actor and philanthropist who donated so much my money to needy causes... would be completely upstaged by... well... other money donation issues.
In any event, he will be missed.
I just watched The Hudsucker Proxy again last week, and while he has had more iconic and better roles, there was always something fun about watching him play an over the top cigar chomping villain... sure, sure...
Yeah, I heard about it a few days ago, just haven't posted. He was a legend, and he will definitely be missed.
ESPN had it running down the bottom with the scores all day long on Saturday. And, if you're someone like me on a Saturday, you don't miss stuff that runs down the bottom on ESPN on a Saturday (any other day I do of course).
