From what I've gleaned in my recent lurking ways hero files are supposed to be put in a 'heroes' folder in the custom folder.  That has been done and they are not loading in the game. 

I'm trying to load Borg-9 and Catlaser, the example characters from FFX 3.1 but it is not working.  I have dug through the game files and I can find no other hero files in the game even though I have numerous custom characters.  I am using ffvstr.

Anyone have an idea?

FFvsTR hero files are contained in a crazy folder.

C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Local Settings\Application Data\Irrational Games\Freedom Force vs the 3rd Reich\Custom\Heroes

Because it's fun to make us look through stuff. I'd say add a shortcut to this somewhere.

As for not being able to use FFX characters... You mean load them in game? That's weird. They should automatically be in the proper folder.

Unfortunately, the great geniuses at Microsoft require it in order for any game to get the Games for Windows logo.  They shouldn't have bothered.
