hi guys... i'm just learning nifskoping and i need your help with something...
i am trying to skope the vxGreenArrow mesh to turn it into a Hawkeye mesh to my liking...
so i took off the unneccessary stuff and added bootcuffs and a belt... but i can't seem to figure out how to put the mask in the right postion... i mean when i go to CTool, it does not go with the flow of the head... it just remains where i put it... see the picture...

so as you can see, when the mesh moves, the mask doesn't... same goes for the quiver... so can anyone help me with this... thanks...

Revenant

Did you paste the mask and quiver onto bones?

It looks like they were pasted to the Scene Root, try pasting them to biphead and spine.

Shepherd

yeah, i only pasted them to the scene root... so the mask goes to the biphead? and the quiver to the spine? is that correct?

Revenant

Yes, in nifSkope you have to paste the mask on the head bone so it will move with it during animations.  If it seems out of sync after doing that, try right-clicking on the line that says 'NiSkinInstance' and remove it.

There are two spine bones, use the one that is closer to the neck in the hierarchy.

Shepherd

ok, i'll try that... i'm still such a beginner with these things... but i hope i can be like you guys... and hope soon i'll be doing stuff for you, and not vice versa... hehehe... well the only first successful skope i made was
making a skirt for Dr. Doom... and with Doom using the Hourman mesh and with C6's skin with it...
here's a preview...

the one on the left is the original one, and the one on the right is with the skoped skirt...

i know the skirt is not of the same color with the shirt yet, but hey, i'm still only skoping yet, and not skinning... these are all what we call practice... hehehe...

so i'll be back with and update with hawkeye...

REDBACKDEATH

Yeah the scene root is great for the body of a mesh but, not all items transfered to it work at all(some do but rarely).
Some things are just logic like a mask if you want it attached to the face has to be pasted to the head node the belt to the pelvis and anything that goes into a hand pasted onto the hand node.

There are other things i've just worked out myself for coats and jackets and that's dont ever use the spines paste direct to the body of the mesh to get the coat or jacket to work inconjuntion with the keyframes(makes sense now to me but had me stuck for awhile).

The hardest part about nif scoping is moving some of these parts into position some are just a pain(i wish you just had a cursor to move the object to where you want it and the values just followed your movements)

Well good luck, in time you will get the hang of it.

Shepherd

well i've finally finished Hawkeye, the way i want him to be... this nifskoping is really great stuff... thanks to Revenant and REDBACKDEATH for the pointers, and style for his great Tutorial... so here's a preview of the hawkeye i skoped... using vxGreenArcher as the base mesh...

any comments or criticisms are greatly appreciated...
and lastly, @REDBACKDEATH : yeah dude, a cursor like that would be a gift sent from God himself...  :P

Wow Vertex just amazes me with his meshes... the only problem with my skoped one is that i can't release it, coz i can't take credit for the mesh... i only skoped it... hehehe... these meshes are just for fun... so kudos to all... hehehe
