QuoteJust out of curiosity, are there any Golden Age bad guys that y'all feel merit inclusion?  Not saying I'm looking to add anything else, but I just sorta' realized that I didn't have any in the mod.

For the Golden Agers, I guess you would consider it an Earth-2 setting.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Earth-Two

So villains that you could maybe consider would be Cyclotron, Solomon Grundy, or the Thinker.

BentonGrey

D'oh!  I'm a bad modder, I have been meaning to respond to this ever since Unko posted, but I kept getting distracted......personally, I blame hippies......dirty hippies......anyroad, I definitely like that Baron Blitzkreig re-design, but I think he might need some work on his powers, or he'd be too powerful for my version of the JSA to stand up to.  He looks great, if a skin shows up, I'll include him.  I will definitely have stories concerning both Vandal Savage and Per Degaton.......or rather, I should say that I INTEND to do that. ^_^  I do have one massive crossover planned for 'ol Per, and I at least want to do that one.  Most of my Savage stories are more modern times, but if people decide they want more Golden Age-y goodness, I'm open to suggestions.

I want to include Captain Nazi.....if only so CM will have someone else to slap around, besides Black Adam, but I'm not crazy about the only version of found.  I thought that I saw someone working on a new one fairly recently, so I might include that if it gets released before too long.

I couldn't bring myself to include The Gambler......I mean, he's practically as bad as The Top..........

I've got the Ultra-Humanite, and I haven't decided what I'll do with him yet.  Thinker......hmm...interesting.

Ohh, Cyclotron!  That sounds promising.  Are there any versions of him out there?

HumanTon

Re: Golden Age villains. The Golden Age was kind of light on super-powered villains--for every good supervillain there were a thousand generic thugs. Apart from the obvious Super-and-Bat villains, these are the DC (& Fawcett, etc) highlights from the 40s (as opposed to retcons), many of which Unko has already mentioned:

Marvel Family villains:
The Golden Age Marvel family had a better rogues' gallery than Superman had at the time, including:
Dr. Sivana (Kenn X did a skin/hex; give him any kind of beam attacks as super-science weapons; you can also make him summon robots.)
Mr. Mind (mind control ... not sure there's a mesh, though.)
IBAC (evil equivalent of Captain Marvel)
Black Adam (another evil equivalent of Captain Marvel who's come to hog the limelight ;))
Captain Nazi (yet another evil equivalent, and worse yet a Nazi!)
Mr. Atom (big radioactive robot.)
Crocodile men (who Jeff Smith brought back in his recent mini)

Justice Society Villains
The first two versions of the Injustice Society collect many of DC's better 40s villains, namely:
The Wizard (magic)
Brainwave (mental powers)
Per Detagon (time travel--in FF I make him summon various historical minions--medieval knights, futuristic guys with ray guns, etc.)
Vandal Savage (immortal super-genius)
The Thinker (another super-genius, this time with a cybernetic thinking cap)
Fiddler (mind control; I think tommboy did a mesh)
Huntress (basically Catwoman to Wildcat's Batman)
Sportsmaster (commiting crime with the power of ... sports!)
Gambler (trick guns)
Icicle (cold powers)
Harlequin (really ugly costume; committed crimes because she was in love with Green Lantern. Ahh, the Golden Age.)

Other Golden Age DC villains:
Solomon Grundy (who was more like the Frankenstein monster and less like the Hulk in those days)
The Mist (who is an excellent candidate for FFX's Dispersed Structure.)
Shade (shadow powers)
Rag Doll (ultra agile; can bend limbs into odd shapes)
Wotan (supernatural Dr. Fate foe; there's a cool mesh though I can't remember who did it)
Psycho Pirate (but the Golden Age version was just a nerdy looking guy who used the power of psychology to commit crimes)
Thorn (plant control ... pretty much what Poison Ivy would end up being)
the original Star Sapphire
Sky Pirate (according to Jess Nevins, "dresses like a pirate, flies in a balloon-galleon, uses a cutlass & gas-gun.")
Monocle (uses the power of, ummm, unusual eyewear?)
Azmodeus (supernatural power on par with the Specter)
Dummy (either a really short guy pretending to be a puppet, or a puppet somehow brought to life)

BentonGrey

Hmm.......I suppose I really ought to add in Dr. Sivana.  Other than him, all of these guys sound interesting: Mr. Atom, Crocodile Men, The Wizard, The Mist, Wotan, and the Thinker.  Any info on any of these guys?  Any any meshes, skins, or images?

:EDIT: I can't find much on Wotan, but the Wizard sounds like an absolutely excellent head villain for a Golden Age campaign.  I may never tell that story, but it's got legs.

Cyber Burn

QuoteI want to include Captain Nazi.....if only so CM will have someone else to slap around, besides Black Adam, but I'm not crazy about the only version of found.  I thought that I saw someone working on a new one fairly recently, so I might include that if it gets released before too long.

I previewed a Captain Nazi 'skope in the hex editing forums (in the "let's see what you 'skoped" thread I think).  I wasn't planning on releasing it since I have nowhere  to release it to.  But if that was the one you were talking about, and you want it, you are more than welcome to it.

Cyber Burn

Regaardless whether he exists or not, Cyclotron is on my list of characters to skope.  Basically, I wast to 'skope most of the Golden Age characters for myself (just so I can say I did and that I learned something new).

FLASH_22798 had pointed to this microhero site for character ideas/references:

http://jerome.galica.free.fr/dc%20comics/Jsa/allstar/ennemis/ennemis.htm

I'm 'skoping both heroes and villains.

BentonGrey

Hmm.....I suppose I like Captain Nazi's original costume better, I suppose I had a different memory of that skope.  It's nice work, but I like his original color scheme, it's unique.

Hmm, Cyclotron and Zyklon both look cool out of that list.  I'll add them if you do them.  I've already got the Sportsmaster, but I'm using him as a modern villain.  (Probably a Blue Beetle foe).

Speaking of which, I know that a skin was done of the 'Mad Men,' but does anyone know where I can find it?

On another note, I'm getting sort of tired of messing with my Batman story for the moment and I feel like doing something else.  Since I can't begin a lot of my other 'comics' without specific maps, I'm going to work on a Question adventure.  To that end, are there any skins for Male_suit 1 or 2 that aren't Lex Luthor?  I want something for a politician.  And later on I need a General, what ever happened to that general skin for the cop mesh?

Panther_Gunn

Re: Portraits

I *knew* I'd stumble on the site again.  BG, is this where you've been looking?  Granted, most of what I've been sending you isn't on here, but a couple are.  Not to say that I'm trying to duck out on anything, but you might find a couple quicker than I've been getting them to you.  ;)

BentonGrey

Hey PG, thanks!  That site was helpful, I found a few different portraits, but I'm afraid that they aren't in the format I need for portraits, as they are JPG's.  If I send you a handful, can you convert them for me?

As to those Golden Age villains, I've been thinking lately that I'd very much like to add Wotan in, mostly because I want a nemesis for Dr. Fate.  Does anyone have any pics of him?  Or, perhaps, does anyone have a suggestion of a mesh/skin that would work for an oriental mystic of great power?

Panther_Gunn

Quote from: BentonGrey on August 14, 2007, 07:49:40 PMI'm afraid that they aren't in the format I need for portraits, as they are JPG's.

  hmmm....I guess that's what I get for not reading the fine print.  But, it makes sense, as it frees up quite a bit of hosting space, so as to not have two formats of each image (I don't think .tga's will display on a browser like .jpg's will).

For just converting, as well as cropping & resizing, I'd highly recommend Graphics Workshop Professional (http://www.mindworkshop.com/alchemy/gwspro.html), which I recommended to Podmark back here.  It's trial software, but I've found no limitations in it, as would be typical with cripple-ware.  It should hold you over until you get Photoshop back.  ;)

For Wotan, take a look here and here, for what his "current" look was (you're looking for the red & green guy), and basic color scheme, respectively.  Male_basic_cape_midcollar should work in a pinch, and I'm suspecting there may already be a skin *somewhere*, but that's hazy memory, at best.  I can get scan up probably Sunday night, if no one else has gotten to it by then.

BentonGrey

Thanks man, a free program for converting is do-able!  Haha, I don't feel like quite so big of a bum now.

Hmm.......Wotan looks pretty awesome, although he could do with some more color.  Still, he looks sufficiently evil and magic-y.  Cool stuff, and thanks for the reference!

BentonGrey

Okay, I just came across a voicepack for Silver Banshee....I figure that if this exists, I should probably take advantage of it and add her on into the mod.  So...does anyone have a skin or mesh?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silver_Banshee

UnkoMan

Oh dang, I forgot about Sea Wolf! YOU HAVE TO ADD HIM IN! A Nazi werewolf who lives in the ocean, is the coolest thing ever! Get me a big eared, gauntlet wearing mesh and I will skin him, even if I can't do fur. I need to see Sea Wolf.

Ah, okay. Now that that is over... So Captain Marvel is Golden Age in your universe? Like I said, I didn't know the timeline, but his villains do all feel very golden agey... and awesome.

That Deathbolt person could be cool. And Night. I don't know either one, but I dig the costumes on the previously linked micros page.

FLASH_22798

Among the things that I gave Cyber Burn was my Paint Shop program, so I'm hoping to see him take more of an active role in the community.

Otherwise, I'm really happy to see this thread going for so long, and to have been so productive.  I'm glad that this was able to have been able to been of use to you Benton.

As for Zyklon, he's been skinned many times over, by myself, C6, meshed by Vertex and the Nifskope and skin by Burn, probably others as well.

Hopefully, if things go well, I can check back in with you guys soon.   Take care.

BentonGrey

Haha, he sounds pretty awesome Unko......and I actually just got an idea of a new Aquaman storyline.....cool stuff!  If you can find me a pic, maybe I can skope it.  If not, I'm sure someone will be willing to help us out, and you can go to town skinning him!

Captain Marvel will be, thanks almost solely to Alex Ross's influence on me, in the modern time of my continuity.  Although......I don't know, maybe I'll have to reconsider this.  I really like him being in the modern time, since I won't really be able to use him much if he's not.  I think that, as a character, he works a little better back then, but for the over all world he works better here.  Then Superman is still the first one with REAL powers.

Hey Flash!  Great to see you on the boards again.  I don't know what's going on that keeps you from joining us, but I hope everything is going well man!

Hopefully we'll see some great things from Cyber Burn. ^_^  This thread has been a help man, thanks!

I found C6's Zyklon recently, and now it's just a matter of adding him in.

Take it easy!

Cyber Burn

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Captain_Nazi

Hey Benton, is this the version of Captain Nazi that you were thinking about? If so, I'd at least be wiling to give it a try over the weekend.

daglob

I think Silver Banshee is at Alex's Freedom Fortress but I don't remember where. I have two Captain Nazi skins, and I'm pretty sure they are on Justin Tyme's page at Alex's place.

Mystik

i think ren make made an capt nazi mesh
i may be mistaken

yell0w_lantern

I think that was a skin for Ren's Master Man mesh.

daglob

The two Captain Nazi skins go on the Master Man mesh.

BentonGrey

Okay, I've got Captain Nazi covered with Ren's Master Man mesh, but if you'd like to take a crack at a skin Cyber, be my guest. ^_^

:EDIT:  Whoops, Unko, sorry man!  I didn't realize that micros page went down so far and I completely missed that image of Sea Wolf!

Alright, I can't find a mesh for Sea Wolf....perhaps my memory is simply failing me.  Can anyone either point me in the right direction for this, or skope him up for me?

BentonGrey

Jakew

The Vivisector mesh would be a good base for Sea Wolf.

I love those Axis baddies ... Sea Wolf, The Horned Owl, Usil, Ubermensch, etc.

BentonGrey

Hmm, doing a search on the master mesh threads doesn't turn that up.  Do you know where I can get my hands on it?

BentonGrey

Howdy guys!  Just working on a few things, kicking ideas around for an Atom storyline, and as such, I'm requesting one of his goofiest villain.

http://www.comictreadmill.com/CTMBlogarchives/2007/2007_Individual/2007_07/001520.php

Check out the picture there, he's the fellow in the front left.  The Bug-Eyed Bandit........what?  Quit laughing, I'm serious!  Yeah.....he's NEARLY as goofy as the Top, but I have plans for this guy, big plans!  Well....okay, so I have some small to medium plans, but still!

Anyroad, I'm requesting a skin or hex.  Perhaps something on The_Ant?  I'm not really sure.  Either way, please don't do the little eye marks INSIDE his bug eyes.  Just the bug eyes themselves.  I know this seems quite silly, but upon seeing him, I really wanted to put him in a story!

Also, does anyone know the other three rogues with him?

On a previous note, I still need to find that Vivisector mesh.  Can anyone send it my way or point me to it?

:EDIT: Ohh, and one last thing, I'm going to be requesting a few Aquaman villains as soon as I get all my ducks in a row, in the way of pics and such.  Is anyone interested in taking on three or four skins?

daglob

The Wildcat wannabe is The Panther (sorry, Guns, ol' boy), while the guy in the goofy helmet is probably The Thinker. The other guy looks like Heat Wave, but why would be be in a Rogues Gallery with The Atom's foes?

Oh, wait: 'cause The Flash kept beating the snot out of him.

BentonGrey

Thanks Daglob!  I can't find any info on The Panther, who is he?

daglob

I remember reading this 'way back when. The reason I remember this guy is that those red things on the side of his head are his sideburns. Beyond being in a gang of guys, and the art being by Gil Kane, I don't remember much.

However, in Jeff Rovin's Super Villain Encyclopedia, he has a short write-up on The Panther Gang:

Led by the photo-editor of the Ivy Town Courier, The Panther Gang (also referred to as The Panther Pack) wear navy-blue body suits and panther cowls. A bold band, they not only rob jewelry stores and the like, but also raid gala functions, the photo-editor stunning  people with a special flashbulb which releases "an electronic impulse so high-pitched" it knocks everybody out. "Special earplugs" protect the Panthers. The group is stopped by the superheroic Atom while robbing jewels at a beauty contest.
The DC Comics' gang's only appearence was in The Atom #27 (1966)

An evil photo-editor? Man, good thing they didn't have Photoshop in those days...

I think the boss is the only one  a "P" on his suit. I don't remember how many were in the gang.

BentonGrey

Thanks Daglob!  There is story potential there, I think, at least in a good old fashioned adventure and mystery.  I'll make a note of this, and maybe if my comics go on long enough I'll come up to it.

Just on a random side note, does anyone know of a Chemo mesh/skin?

Almost forgot, I'm still looking for something to use for Wotan.  While flipping through Tommy's site, I figured his Baron Mordo would work perfectly, but we need a skin of that distinctive green face.

BentonGrey

Alright, I found that Vivisector mesh, but I don't think he was quite right for Sea Wolf.  So I've skoped up a TV version of him, and sent it off to Unko.  If he likes it, that's one down.
