What program should i use to make a skin with transparent parts ? i mean making a skin which masks some part of mesh in-game ? For example when the mesh have a big gun and i wan't to make part of this gun transparent without removing whole gun ? I'm trying to make skins but i'm stuck in the point of making some part of mesh transparent by editing skin ! Is there some tutorial ? or what program is the best to do such things and how ?

Please Tell me ! I'm new in skinning world and if someone call tell me that i will be very gratfull and happy !

The term you're looking for is called alpha channel, and as far as I know it's available in every raster-based art program from Gimp up. What I do is create a new layer, fill it with some color (doesn't really matter which, but preferrably something that will stand out against the colors of the skin) and add a "Mask" to that layer. Using black and white, color the mask until only the sections you want visible have the color used in your layer.

When you're done, find the option "save mask to alpha channel" and go through the required steps. Then make the layer you initially created invisible, and save your tga
