Quotei really do need to make a few skins, again...

Yes, indeed you do.

I've been slowly creeping up on the MUA modding scene (nothing really major, just HUD images and the like sofar...) off and on for awhile now... I've always liked the play system better then FF's, but the fact is it's just not mod-friendly.

My main problem is just working up the desire to do anything with it though. I've mentioned this before, but Mainstreme characters don't hold that much interest to me anymore, and the only ones I'd have any desire to do eithor come with the game, or have been done well by another skinner. However, I was bored today, and it occured to me that though I'd seen someone ask about it before, there didn't seem to be any Classic, Blue+Yellow Wolverine skins running about, at least not that I could find. So I skinned one.

To be quite honest, it's little more then a glorified recolor, but I'm happy with it. It's better then the XML1 version, which was all I was really going for anyway.

Nice looking Wolvie, Tomato!  He's always been one of my all time faves.  Hard to have too much of him!

Out of curiosity, who did Collossus, Storm and the Beast??

Tomato

Colossus, as well as half a dozen other official MUA character sets converted from 360, PSP, and the like, are located here. Storm and Beast are a part of the XML1+2 conversion project, located here.

Intriguing!  But those links that you posted...are they for  :ff:  or   :ffvstr:?  The thread line says Marvel Ultimate Alliance.  Alittle off the subject perhaps, but I didn't even no that modding MUA was even possible.  Well, just when I think I've learning some techie stuff...more stuff comes along that blows me away!

Any how, thanks for the pointers!

Tomato

They're for MUA  .

Any how, nice work any how!!

This really isn't an "Updated" update (I got this far just prior to thanksgiving, but I went spastic with all the stress I was under in R/L and here and postponed working on it again. I plan to start up again tomorrow if I finish my homework tonight.) but I figure I owe y'all SOMETHING FF-related, so here it is.

Could you possibly skope shoulder pads and gloves? I really like where this is going.

It's an idea, but I have a good reason for not doing it... I plan on making his armor by having dozens of overlaping sections, and having shoulder pads and gloves meshed out while all the other sections aren't would look really cheesy. Short of meshing out every piece (which I unfortunately don't have time for) I just don't see it working out well.

In the end, it's the same reason I chose not to mesh out the grill on the face, despite my initial love of the idea... it would have looked nicer if you were looking JUST at the face, but having that meshed out while the rest of the mesh was flat didn't fit too well.

I'm not saying I won't eventually come back to this and possibly make a character-specific mesh for this skin, but right now I just don't have the time.

Completely understand.

Nice details on the Hellscorp character. ^_^

Tomato

I know I said I was going to get back to Hellscorp today, but I decided that I'd work on another ongoing project instead, this time a request. Say hello to the in-progress God Girl, Young Hero's avatar.

Still not nearly done (the face and boots are placeholders, and I haven't started on the extras.) but I'm making progress. I really like that skirt, I took it from an Irrational mesh and it hardly clips at all.

YoungHeros

I think I'm in love

Which keyframes does she use?? ^_^

BTW: Hello in-progress God Girl :P

Lunarman

Wow, the pleats in that skirt are great. I can't wait to see the finished project!

Currently she's on Ink's Jean Grey keys, but it would be fairly simple to transfer her over to any you'd want to use.

Ok, I have good news, and I have bad news, and then more good news and a preview.

First bit of good news is that I have finally upgraded my previously outdated image program (PSP 8.0) for a more recent version (X2), and that this upgrade is making my life much eaisier now that I've begun to get used to it and set all my shortcuts up. Though I was very comfortible with 8, it had this ever so slight problem which involved the porgram crashing almost 50% of the time when I would use the line/pen tool. Since I have been using that tool exclusively to create Hellscorp's armor, having the new version, y'know, not crash has been something of a novelty.

Bad news is, it's that time of the semestre again... over the next few weeks I've got finals, which involve the dreaded last-minute stress, studying, and anurisms.

However, that also means that once the two hell weeks are over, I don't have school for another month or so. I might have to go see my older sister for a week or so in there, or possibly job evils(If I get a job I don't have to go to my sister's, because job would come first), but eithor way, I have more free time then I did with 5 classes (including Calc II, ack)

And finally, an update on Hellscorp:

murs47

That is really turning out to be a beautiful skin. The labor of love is really shining though with this one.

I feel your pain with finals coming up.....well, maybe not so much since I'm not taking anything as brutal as calculus. But good luck!

AfghanAnt

I can't get over the "H". It is really an amazing skinning job.

Tomato

Semi-minor update to Hellscorp (I had calc homework+studying for quiz as well, so I only finished off the torso today. Most of the back had been done during the last update, I just didn't feel like hexing off the cape) but I've included some shots of the cape and back as well, just to make it seem like I'm going faster than I actually am  :P

I'm quite happy with how the cape turned out, actually. Oh, and once again, I want it stated that I am overjoyed that I have a non-program-crashing pen tool now.

Figure Fan

Hellscorp and God Girl are looking pretty sweet. I'm really impressed with the layered look of Hellscorp's armor. Nice job on the metallic sheen, too. It really sells it.

As for finals week..I hear ya. I've got 4 exams coming up next week and a paper I have to finish writing. Anurism, here I come!

Ah..the fun that is college..no? :P

Oh yes. Never had more fun in my life[/sarcasm]

You know, it's amazing what a day off and tools that don't crash your f-ing program can do for a skin's progress.  ;)

Sweet skin man, really impressive!

Holy Moley, thats great man!!

detourne_me

how you came from your base to that masterpiece mystifies me.

the colours have been enriched, the highlights and muscle lines more defined, arrgh, its like you didn't even need a base for him!

Yeah, that's actually the entire point of my base... it does almost nothing as far as depth, so I have much more room to manipulate each skin individually.

Edit: Does anyone know Hellscorp's email or have some way to contact him? I'd like to give him a link here so he can see the finished skin.

Lionheart

Great job!

So, when's he gonna be released?
