FWIW, Take-Two is undergoing more financial woes, including possible ouster of its board and CEO by shareholders and possible sale of the company. See,

There is no mention of the FF franchise or IG. (One might think, with all the criticism of games like GTA as family-hostile, T2 might want to get the word out on games like a certain wholesome superhero RPG series...)

Considering we have heard -nothing- from IG since the acquisition, I'd venture to guess that the FF franchise is DoA.

Of course, coming back from the dead is a time-honored comic book plot, so anything is possible.

The Take2 website shows only one upcoming title by IG, Bioshock.  Projected release date is August 2007.  And that game looks to be about as far away from Freedom Force as you can get.  I won't be interested in it.

Bioshock is effectively System Shock 3. Another publisher had the rights to SS, so IG took the opportunity to divest themselves of some of the ickier continuity holes and start fresh-- same gameplay, largely similar setting, new window-dressing.

It would be nice to buy or license it at a low price, get some investors/grant writers together, and hire the community to build FF products.

On the plus side, Take Two has been in perpetual turmoil for years, so this is nothing new.  :D

Maybe, just maybe, the success of Crackdown will make people realize the world needs more Freedom Force. Whenever I talk to people with both 360s and PCs the first think they say about Crackdown is, "Yeah, it's like Freedom Force meets GTA."

A actual true to goodness Freedom Force sequel is what the doctor ordered. Let's all hope that Take-Two finally gets their act together so we will see it one day.

It's just a shame that for the past 4 years our community has put out more Freedom Force related content than the makers of the game. :|
