Newest version of FFX?

Before I start, if you didn't see the icon for the thread, these questions are only about FFX for  :ff:.

What was the final version that was released?  I have 2.3, but I'm under the impression that one or two more updates were released after that.

What changes were made between the version I have, and the final one?  Specifically, were there any changes/additions made to the characters.dat?  I ask because of the EZ Voice Pak, as it makes *extensive* changes to that file.  Unfortunately, with SP 2, we've found that some people can't run FFEdit any longer, so merging .dat's is out of the question (unless I'm understanding things wrong.....again).  To make EZVP as compatible as possible (since I compiled it with a *much* earlier version of FFX installed.....before the tiggot!), I was thinking about doing a quick merge between a "clean" .dat from the latest FFX and the one that comes with EZVP, so that it will be seamless to anyone that can't merge .dat's.  I'm 99% sure that I know what I'm doing on this, but in case I've overlooked a simple or necessary detail, please pipe up!  Also, if someone happens to have a "clean" dat just sitting around (yeah, like I'm holding my breath on *that* one  :D), I would *greatly* appreciate it if it could just be sent to me, saving me any extra hassles.

I may be wrong, but I think the most recent version is 2.6. You can get it on Dr Mike's website: http://www.fundamentzero.com/

I don't know if there were any changes to the characters.dat. I don't think so, but I'm probably wrong. I don't understand much of this stuff.

I use SP2 and I can run FFEdit normally. Have you tried reinstalling it?

I agree. FFEdit should be able to merge DATs under SP2. I think the only things that might cause trouble are the map-editing tools.

I was pretty sure I had heard instances of FFEdit crashing just after opening.  Granted, I haven't exactly been keeping close tabs on this problem, so it may have been only an isolated incident (one time or one person).  Ya know, every time I think of SP 2, I think of that old DOS saying: "DOS isn't done until Lotus won't run."  I am *so* glad I had heard ahead of time that it had issues with so many things that I stayed far away from it.

SP3 and FFEdit aren't fully compatible, but certain tab will work.  .dat merging works fine.

Didn't someone undertake to update the last official release (2.6 Gold) for  :ff: with additions to the electronic manual and a few fixes as well?
