Okay, I was trying to do a character with shapeshifter. It's The Glob, the character you see as my avatar. I have these fantastic meshes that allow him to make mallets and clubs of his hands and all that other stuff Texas Jack did (Thanks TJ!), and wanted him to be able to change shape into recognizable forms. Most of the characters had basically the same stats, just different names: Bat-Glob, Super-Glob, Glob Eastwood, Globby-Horse, Globby Dog, and Globrilla. When I sent the characters to the DAT files, it added every one of their powers to the powers list where I create new characters. They all have a "stretch beam" called Stretch Punch, so in my powers list I now have Bat-Glob Stretch Punch, Globby Horse Stretch Punch, Globby Dog Stretch Punch, et cetera. It does this with ALL their powers. I did Negative an as an Inner Being on Larry Trainor, and at first it was alright, but now all his powers are listed in the powers list, duplicating quite a few. I think it loaded his powers into the powers list the next time I started FF.

So, anyone have any idea what I did wrong?

Anyone know how to fix it?

How do i keep it from happening again?

Panther Gunn has been kind enough to give me some help, and while I appreciatre it greatly, I feel the need for a little more.

You didn't do anything "wrong", that's just how the transfer-to-DAT works. It automatically adds the name of the character to the name of the powers, to make sure you don't get any conflicts with two different powers having the same name. If the duplicate entries bother you, I guess you could delete them in FFEdit, and then go back in and add the "original" version of the powers to each character manually.

I guess that's what I'll have to do. I've been worrying about trying to find powers in a list that was steadily becoming longer.

To IPS: The desired result is that the character will change into these other characters-that part works (mostly) fine. It was the undesired duplicate powers in the powers lists (multiple stretchy punches, multiple head butts, multiple hammer crushes, multiple stretch tos) that seems to me to be a problem. From what JKCarrier says, it isn't a bug, it's a feature.
