So what does everyone think of issue 1 of World War Hulk?

I was disappointed with the Black Bolt fight, I wanted to see how Hulk beat him. Maybe in a future issue we will see it in flashbacks. Overall however I really liked it. Hulk vs Sentry should be very interesting to see and it looks like it's going to happen in issue 2.

Hulk Smash!!! Err..... Yes, I thought it was ok. The Iron Man/ HUlk fight was good. I guess nanotech isn't the uber science it's supposed to be.

Jakew

Black Bolt was beaten off-panel ... and the only reason I read this was because I saw some teaser pages featuring his battle with Hulk. Bit of a let-down!

Talavar

I guess the nano-power supressors just can't supress that much power, which would probably be true of the collar-type of supressor they've used a lot over the years.

I did like Iron Man's line when he saw Hulk take an air strike, and come out screaming: "Aw, crap."

Yes...lessee... You had Wonder Man, the She Hulk, Doc Sampson, spider-man, AND Iron Man in the area, not to mention Countless Shield agents and craft, yet you just had to go mano y mano, Tony.  Brilliant Strategem.

Pah!  All of their combined might pales in comparison to the power of Tony's mighty ego!  He'll use that to boost the power levels of his armor!

Even with all assembled, Hulk would have taken them. I think Black Bolt is more than a match for them, yet you see the results. Tony must have been crazy. You know he thrashed on Black Bolt. Who's way over Tony's level. Yet he puts on bigger armor, does a speech and solo's it.

Well, Tony did say, "This is my fight." He is a pretty smart guy, and usually (forget that out of character Civil War deal) pretty heroic as well. His thinking semed to be, "Hulk let the city be evacuated, so he really just wants a piece of me and the other three. I have a good plan, and I go with that. No one else needs to get  hurt because of what I did." That is something a hero would do. The fight was pretty cool.

My question is this: There was 24 hours after Hulk sent out a world wide ultimatum. Why didn't any of the other three show up or even contact each other? (Doc Strange did, sort of, but offered no solution or help of any kind. That seemed odd for him to kind of say, "...it sucks, but oh well.")

The Black Bolt fight was a cop out. That is a waste of a great opportunity. That could have been a great fight on the moon showing immense power levels and really set the scene for a lot of tension.

I think so too, especially if the writers and editors remembered the relationship Hulk and Sentry had, as shown in the Sentry miniseries.  That would be a good opportunity, I find old Bob Reyolds has been too underused in the last few years. I actually really like em.

I think all that hardware's overcompensating for something. ;)

Tony made a HulkBuster armor years ago, made specifically to handle the Hulk, yet here he is with a brand new one, and it's still not enough to beat Hulk. A few years ago he built a Thorbuster armor, and Thor beat him too. I guess Tony's schematics and power level estimations and such can't compensate for real world conditions.

I agree completely that Hulk would have taken them. I was talking with the guys in the comic book store this week and they said Thor admitted in a comic that Hulk could beat him, and Hulk also beat Silver Surfer. I seriously doubt Spider-Man, Wonder Man (who's a total pansy in my opinion), and She-Hulk (who's almost always been portrayed as far weaker than him) are going to give him much trouble.

What I'm wondering is why didn't they take that time to call in someone who might actually be able to stop the Hulk? Think of all the times in comics they've done a end issue splash page with some character or team that was called in to handle a threat.  Wouldn't a telepath, or better yet, a group of telepaths, have a better chance of knocking out the Hulk than strongmen whose powers have solid limits where Hulk's can increase?  Lord knows the X-Men's probably got a few psychics floating around they could spare; the writers could even take this opportunity to kill off a few ones who haven't been used in years.

Personally, I'm looking forward to the Gamma Corps, that just seems like a cool idea.

Personally...I don't think I needed to see the Black Bolt/Hulk fight. We when he pulls BB's carcass out of the ship...I was stunned...the man who's never lost a fight looks like ground beef. The effect of not knowing how it went down between them worked for me. Besides you gotta imagine what the rest of the Inhumans must look like....you think Medusa Karnak or Gorgon or rest of the Royal Family wouldn't know about or stay outta that fight? "Crap...our king is gettin' his butt handed to him....get that green freak!"  I loved that book....it was my favorite read all year!

I have to say, I've never understood why, whenever the Hulk's on a major rampage, they send bricks after him. Physical muscle is the worst way I can think of to try to beat the Hulk. Seriusly, Hulk's one of my favorite characters, but he's not unbeatable. He's been beaten before, it's just that the most effective methods don't involve getting some other super-strong individual (or group of individuals) to try to beat him up.

It's true that there's no method that would be 100% likely to be effective- the Hulk always has at least a chance- but with the right strategy, use of telepathic powers, magic, sonics, psychology, and, yes, even gas (which, back in the '70s, was often treated as the Hulk's "kryptonite"- never made much sense to me, a being who's been shown breathing the tiny amount of oxygen surrounding a spaceship hull, and still fighting at his peak, shouldn't be affected by most gasses at all, but it has been established...), the odds could be stacked strongly against him. Not that I particularly want to see him defeated- and not that I'm currently buying any of these comics, anyway...

Sword

It felt good seeing the smashing again. And good for Sentry not being coerced into fighting Hulk off the bat.

thanoson

Much like how he handled Tony in space, he's gonna be ready for the telepaths. He knows that the world will probably be against him. Friends and foes alike. How many times has he tangled with an X-man? The heroes are not going to have an easy time.

udasu

I've always loved JRJR, and I've been following PH, so I thought it was a great start - And it's plausible; he's never been angrier, so he's never been as powerful. Angry enough, he's a cosmic - level foe..

gengoro

God I hope this whole thing doesnt end with the typical comic cop-out.  You know the mind control, shape shifting imposter, change of heart crap.  Want him to just maim or beat the crap(especially the illuminati) out of everyone who gets in his way.
