Mods, Meshes, chara... & stepping on toes...

Hello everyone.

Recently in a request for meshes and keyframes I was informed that I should ask permission to download meshes onto a site.

Can anyone use any of the meshes for making mods or chara? I mean no offense... but if someone wanted to steal them... it is probably already too late.

If you use a particular person's meshes... like let's say Ink's, GNI, Gren's and reconfigure them or use them as is with a new skin on them... and put them in a yahoo group... are you offending anyone in any manner?

I am not sure how the "property" thing works when the meshes etc are right there for download...

EXAMPLE: I have the (Marvel) Beetle_gren mesh... I removed the faceplate and bug eyes and made him into a chara from the old Villains and Vigilantes rpg called SWARMaster... it is amazing... he looks exactly like the VnV chara... but... can I download him onto a yahoo site (Mesh ect) without stepping on toes... I give full credit for who made it when possible.

This is especially true for chara I doctor to fit the look of the hero/villain I am making. I can't very well ask someone to get nifscope or the mesh editor (if they are even still avalible) to doctor them for themselves when I already have exactly what they need.

Just curious about this. For the most part this is an old game. I am not even sure if these meshes are used for anything else besides this game. Although I think the Freedom Force game is better than anything else out there...

Let me know what you think. I'd love some feedback before I even attempt to do a Mod... I wouldn't want to step on toes or waste my time and effort.

Okay, here's what I know...You can include a hexed mesh with your new skin on a Yahoo group/website, etc... (I have with many of my D&D skins with hexed Tommyboy meshes)....But credit must be given for the mesh (I usually use Gryphon's skin bases too)...And whatever you do...Do not use a kit-bashed skin (It's very, very bad!)!  You probably already know that.
