Are you using EZFX 6.0 from Alex's Freedom Fortress(NOT version 5.1!!!)?  Are you running the standard game or FFX3.2?  This information can help somebody solve your problem.

Typically speaking, you should:

1) install FFVTTR
2) install EZFX
3) install FFX3.2

Do it in that order.  FFX3.2 will recognize EZFX and include them in your FFX3 install.  This will give you all the FFX attributes/changes as well as EZFX.  You should be able to start a game using your FFX3 shortcut and access everything.

If you have FFedit.  You can check to see if the FX installed properly by:
1) open FFedit (duh!)
2) click on the Options tab
3) check your "Primary Data Path".  If you are using FFX, this should point to your "FFX3" folder.  If you are playing the standard game, it should point to your "Data" folder.
4) click on the FX tab
5) in the left hand window, you should see a list of FX , including "aff_boom_blue", "aff_boom_green", etc.  If you see this, the FX are installed correctly
6) Start the game again and create a beam power (I know there are a lot of custom FX for beams)
7) click on the animations and fx tab and scroll to the bottom of the list.....the new FX should appear there.
8) try another power...projectiles, melee, etc. to make sure the FX are installed correctly.

If you're still having problems, then I'm stumped!  Good luck.
