Mesh doesn't show in character creation window

I was playing around with adding combo attributes for FFX 3.2 and followed the procedures regarding FFedit.  The combos show up no problem in the attributes window, however when I went to create a new character in game and clicked on the mesh I wanted the character window opens up with no Melee idling mesh spinning around.  It appears I can still create a new hero, but I can't pick a skin.  What did I do and how shall I go about fixing it?

Thanks!

This doesn't seem like it would be related to FFX. My guess is that the mesh or keyframes aren't installed properly or may be corrupt. You might want to see if the the wiki has some help on the mesh installation process.

Stumpy, thanks for answering.  I have 100+ custom meshes installed.  Character creation was working fine until I did whatever I did.  I can still edit existing characters, the mesh shows up and I can cycle through the skins as usual.  I just get a complete blank in the mesh window when I enter create new character.

I guess I was a little thrown by some of the terms. Part of what you describe sounds like a problem with animations (keyframes), but later on you mention being unable to pick a skin, which isn't the same thing. I also wasn't 100% sure what you meant by "the character window opens up with no Melee idling mesh spinning around." What happens then? Is it just blank? Is it using another animation? Etc.?

Of course, I am not nearly a mesh guru, but others here are. Maybe if you could be a little more exact in what's going on, someone might recognize the problem.

BTW, is this happening for all meshes you can choose when making a new custom or just the one?

The character creation window opens with Str, speed, agility etc all set to the default of 1 (feeble). I can change all the stats and attributes.  The window to the right that normally has the image of your mesh revolving with the arrow tabs below it for cycling thru skins is empty.  If I tab to the powers page and try to add a melee attack (for instance) the game crashed to the desktop.

Thanks again.

The strength, speed, et cetera stats normally default to 1 unless you are copying an existing character, so that's no problem.

The empty display and crash when adding a power really makes it sound like a misplaced mesh or keyframe file. Or possible a mesh that needs NIF conversion. Without knowing more about your setup, I can only suggest looking into the folder where the mesh is installed and making sure that there is a character.nif, character.kf and the skins folders and subfolders.

PS: have you tried looking at the mesh in CTool2?

JVDEHD

It is not just one mesh, it is every mesh. None of them show up.  However I just created a character with
EZhero 3.2 and I can edit it in game normally.  The mesh image appears normally and I can cycle thru the skins.

All the meshes with their corresponding skins show up no problem in Character Tool 2.
