Quote from: William Butler YeatsThe trees are in their autumn beauty,
The woodland paths are dry,
Under the October twilight the water
Mirrors a still sky;
Upon the brimming water among the stones
Are nine and fifty swans.

The nineteenth Autumn has come upon me
Since I first made my count;
I saw, before I had well finished,
All suddenly mount
And scatter wheeling in great broken rings
Upon their clamorous wings.

I have looked upon those brilliant creatures,
And now my heart is sore.
All's changed since I, hearing at twilight,
The first time on this shore,
The bell-beat of their wings above my head,
Trod with a lighter tread.

Unwearied still, lover by lover,
They paddle in the cold,
Companionable streams or climb the air;
Their hearts have not grown old;
Passion or conquest, wander where they will,
Attend upon them still.

But now they drift on the still water
Mysterious, beautiful;
Among what rushes will they build,
By what lake's edge or pool
Delight men's eyes, when I awake some day
To find they have flown away?

I, on the other hand, have had my wild swan tamed by the most beauteous lady, now five years the better spouse.  Thanks to her that I was not made the odd swan out (despite Waterford's best efforts--does anyone play the flute?)!  :o

Here's to the patience and loving capacity of our better halves, whoever and wherever they may be, eh what? :D

Anybody else ever get the suspicion that O_T_S walked into a lamppost on his way to a much smarter forum, forgot where he was headed, and just kinda stumbled into ours cuz of all the shiny flashing lights?

I very much doubt such a place exists. ... Of course, I also doubt the existence of the sídhe, a truly excellent Vietnamese restaurant in the Boston area, and faithful representation in both art and representative democracy.

Which just goes to show you're an intelligent fellow ;)

Now if Spud had said 'a much more smart-aleck forum', then clearly no such place could possibly exist.  We've got that down to an art.

Glitch Girl

He's got a point.

At any rate, if my Erudite/English translation is correct, congratualtions on your anniversary.

Funny you should say that Spud.  Now you mention it, he seemed a little woozy and (in hindsight) out of sorts in his first post here.  Referencing an old Stephen Sondheim musical he was, at least so far as I recall ...

Quite the Comedy Tonight, eh?  Preposterous! Impossible! TPE, you Dirty Old Man, I am sorry to ruin your Pretty Little Picture, but I simply must protest!  When I read my first post, 'tis Love[,] I Hear, not Sondheim.  You should not feel Free to sully my relationship with my wife through your Lovely little nonsensical interpretations.  Bring Me My Bride, and we will publicly declare our love!  Yes, That'll Show Him!

...

Please forgive me.  I'm Calm now.  We should call in the help to clean up my incensed post.  Everybody Ought to Have a Maid.  Now I'm off to The House of Marcus Lycus, so try to behave and not libel me in my absence.
