So apparently the new star wars animated series is getting a theatrical release before the show debuts.

There is a feature with some footage here:

The geek in me will break down and go see it.
But the rest of me is pretty "eh" about it.

I read about this in the paper. I'm not too thrilled by it. Really, wasn't there already a cartoon covering the Clone Wars? And Anakin having a padawan, especially at that age, just looks silly. I mean, the council never thought he was fit for anything, yet he now has a padawan? It's just messing with continuity...

I'd almost rather see Lucas do cartoon versions of what he had in mind for Episodes 7, 8, and 9, as Mark Hamill, Harrison Ford, and Carrie Fisher are all too old now.

Agreed.  I read this too and thought the article was old and that it was released by mistake.  Anyway, it's his franchise let him run it into the ground if he likes.

Ugh....Although I agree with Marvell about eps 7-9 (made in animated form with the original actors doing the voices).  I have no interest in seeing anything having to do with Anakin or the Prequels (I hated them all)...This is coming from somebody who adored the original three films, until Lucas began to screw with them.

so what we had to have seen the old clone wars toon to get all the references in the prequels and now we have a new clone wars toon that contradicts the old one.

yeah lucas hasn't lost it yet

Hmmmm...yeah, I can see the reason for the collective "meh" response to this movie.  Sounds like it might be a good rental.  Then again, I'm just enough of SW fan to be excited about nearly anything coming out!

Quick question, does anyone know if this is going to be considered canon?  I do know that Lucas allows for more stuff to be canon than in...say...the PTB do in the Trek universe.

Man, an animated version of the Thrawn Trilogy would be beyond awesome....especially with the original cast doing the voices......don't let Lucas near it though, he's sold his creative soul long ago.

Let's see the story line of Dash Rendar done, fans would appreciate that more. The only real reason why George Lucas is coming out with this now is because he doesn't want to be 1-upped by the Star Trek franchise which is coming out with a new movie soon! <_<
