I've been reading Naraghi's Lifelike webcomic on and off for a while now. Like many independent comics creators working in the slice-of-life/semi-autobiographical genre, his work isn't immune to bouts of what I call "Pekar-ism," (after Harvey Pekar of American Splendor fame) that combination of navel-gazing and self-importance that afflicts many in the indie field, although it isn't as bad as with many of his contemporaries. What sets his work apart, however, is the socio-political context in which many of his stories are immersed in (even when he's not overtly writing a war memoir or something of that nature) and it provides some pretty startling and relevant commentary at times. Anyways, the TPB collecting his strips goes on sale today (Jan.16), so you guys might want to check it out.

Here's a preview:

If you're interested in his work but you can't afford the TPB (or need some more samples before parting with your cash), much of the material on the TPB is archived in the Lifelike website

What a bizarre twist in the ending?! :o I really feel sorry for the guy. Wasn't expecting that.

Anyways, nice drawings. I liked the way they handled the story though.  A real shocker. :P
