Mowgli

Hey there! Here's a pic of the Inhumans I did for a draw off on another site. It is a re-imagining of them (note the differences in Black Bolt's costume). I used Michaelangelo's Pieta as a reference/inspiration. Comments and critiques are always welcome. Thanks for taking the time to stop by!  :)

That looks really cool Mowgli - I can feel Medusa's pain for her fallen leader

Bravo, Mowgli!  I think the imitation/inspiration and the subject matter most complementary (specifically with regard to the dangerous voice silenced motif, not to mention the trope of the world turned on its head with regard to the Virgin/Gorgon).  If you were to ink/colour it, and if I were Marvel, I would purchase your work in a heartbeat. :)  Terrific concept and execution!

Thanks for all the kind words guys. I was going for emotion with the drawing. I honestly didn't see all of the correlations you did ow_tiobe_sb , but they are cool parallels. I thought the pose was perfect for someone who had fallen (heroically) and the loving concern of someone holding him.

Thanks again for taking the time to reply. It's greatly appreciated!  :)

I like it... not too fond of Black Bolt's "head sock" (personal preference... just one of those comic book stand-bys I never liked) but that's a good, solid piece. The thing I like most about it is that you didn't go for the straight-on shot... most comic book homages to the Pieta I've seen (and boy, are there lots of those... I think comics101 did a whole article on them) have used the lay-out popularized by John Byrne (the cover Uncanny X-Men #136) and George Perez (cover to Crisis on Infinite Earths #7).

Thanks Zulu. You have a good eye. I was specifically avoiding drawing that Byrne pic you are referring to.  ;)
