Is the slide move suppose to represent super speed?

TheMarvell

I guess so.

Expanding on the topic, has anyone else played this? This was one of the flagship titles that sold the Xbox360 for me. I was really, really looking forward to this, as Silicon Knights has a great track record of releasing great games with great stories. However, the game has gone through a lot of issues and changes, and I gotta say that the game is incredibly mediocre. It definitely has it's fun moments, but it's a horribly wounded and ultimately broken game I feel. Sort of like Knights of the Old Republic 2. I really loved the atmosphere of Too Human, and the combat kind of grew on me, but the ridiculous controls, camera, and lack of any competent targeting system make for a pretty mediocre experience, when the game really should have been fantastic. It's been in development for SO long, I was expecting better from SK.

and the story is somewhat interesting, but was probably the most disappointing of all, as it's claiming to be "the first of an epic trilogy!" ( ) and wouldn't you know it, but the game ends on a cliffhanger. And it's not even an interesting one. It just stops. I thought I had at least one more level to play and then *bam* credits roll. Nothing much even happened in the story that by the time the sequel comes out (IF it comes out, that is. You never know with games...) I won't even remember wtf happened.

I understand the REAL meat of the game is the loot hunting, but when you can only play with ONE other person online, it becomes kind of pointless. Plus, I'm the type of gamer where if the story isn't that engaging, then there's not much point in continuing to get all that cool looking loot. I'd only continue to play to unlock achievements and see the cool scenery again. It's pretty unique in it's atmosphere, but again, the overall product was pretty disappointing. And I really, REALLY wanted to love this game.

If you're on the fence, give the demo a try. The game is exactly like the demo, so you'll know what you're getting into. It's just that, given the games development time, and Silicon Knights, I was expecting better.

Overall, probably a 6 or 7 out of 10.

it's pretty late where I'm at, but I want to get this off my chest: Why the hell is it the new trend in videogames to do this "planned trilogy" bullcrap and have the endings be a terrible cliffhanger? I've just played two games that have fallen to this recently (Too Human and Dreamfall) and there's plenty of other games in the market that do this. Anyone remember Advent Rising? There's one that had this planned epic trilogy nonsense, so it had a crap ending, and what do you know? the game sells like crap because it's mediocre at best and the odds of that game becoming a series is little to none. Mass Effect is another planned epic trilogy, but at least that one had a GOOD ending, hell, an ACTUAL ending. And Bioware is big enough that I actually believe they'll do a trilogy. I'm just really really sick of videogames having such high ambitions for FUTURE games that they fail to really focus on the game they're working on to make a good, memorable experience with the story. Very few games have good cliff hangers (see Soul Reaver 2) but I just hate investing into videogame characters only to have it end so abruptly that it feels like the development team just stopped one day and shipped out the product.

ok, end of rant. I'm off to bed.

I actually really love Too Human. I thought that the voice acting, graphics, game play and the story was fantastic. I guess it helps that I don't expect perfection with my games. The story for me is it's selling point, I really wish that a novel would be written detailing the rise of the machines and Odin's accession to cyber godhood. Retelling Norse mythology the way Too Human did, almost makes it seem real, to me at least. [Mod Edit for content]. Anyway, I for one am a big fan of Too Human and pray to Odin that parts two and three will come.

I'm glad you loved the game. I wish I did as much as you. I liked the graphics and the setting of the story, but I just thought there really wasn't enough. I agree with most reviews in that the story stops JUST when it starts to really pick up. And I'm really getting sick of games doing this. Also, while a novel would be cool, I think it would be better if the game would just have taken more time explaining things.

I don't expect perfection from games, but if a developer has a great track record, then that's usually what I expect. Also, taking into consideration just how long the game has been in development, I was really hoping the game would be better than what it is. Do I think it's terrible? No, absolutely not. I don't regret buying it and thought it was enjoyable for the most part. Heck, I'm still in a sense of awe that the game's even been released. However, I think the game should have gone the God of War route with its combat style and camera control. I like that SK tried something different, but the game seems to be begging for better camera control.

The game's style is cool enough that I actually kind of want to play it again, but it's far from being the Diablo-inspired game they were trying to make.

Muwahahahaha! Okay! Yesterday, well... Wednesday, I got my 360 Elite back from Microsoft. Alas, it was the dreaded RRoD, get's better; it happens the same day I get Too Human, which was about a week or two after it came out (stupid Wal-Mart...). Now then, I've more or less been playing the game none stop... And getting far less sleep then I really should. Luckly, I'm off Wednesday and Thursday (well, I'm always off, but those two days, I'm not working ether), so I'm not in that bad of shape.

I'm enjoying the game. Seriously. I'm cackling like a mad man at not only the battles, which tend to be insane with mass swarms of enemies coming out of everywhere, I'm also laughing a most of the banter. I think my favorite has to be "Man, I wish I was back home with my wife." - "I wish I was back home with your wife, too." My only real complaint about the game, as I keep looking at the case, I see Buldar's Sword and Armor, and all I can think is "Want!"; well, that, and Hod biting the bullet so to speak.

And if you know your Norse mythology, that's not a surprise... I do however wonder how Buldar's still sucking air... He dies before Hod in the Mythos... Hmm... Maybe they shall answer that as well...

Don't want to spoil anything for you but you know those blue lines on Balder's face? There not there for decoration.  ;)

No, I've beatin' the game, even watched the opening video a few times, so that answered my question about Buldar being "still alive". Also, if I recall... He did still have those blue lines... I might have to watch the video again tho...
