Anyone read the latest issue Walking Dead, with the death of that certain character? I was actually a little taken aback.

They can fix that wound with some duct tape.

It's been a bit since I've had the pleasure of reading The Walking Dead. I had to read a review of the book to find out who you were talking about.

[spoiler]Kirkman killed off Tyreese? The Governor's the one who did the chopping? Wow. Kirkman is really pulling out all the stops.

Poor Tyreese, he was put through hell. :(

I know! That kill scene seemed really graphic to me, because the character had been around for such a long time (since the second story arc?) and was a favourite at one point. And I'm a diehard Punisher MAX fan!

Anyway, according to the next few covers, the killing of the main cast is going to continue. Anyone seen that cover with Rick (in shadows) with son leading him by the hand? Foreboding....

If Kirkman whacks everybody I give a hooey about, there's no reason for me to continue reading the series. Everybody I like thats left is in the prison. If the RV plummets into a ravine I wouldn't lose a bit of sleep over it. However, With Rick, Michonne,  Lori, and Axel (!!!) at risk, Im not a happy camper at  the moment.

A bit of observation...

[spoiler]There is no way in HELL Kirkman will kill off Rick.

The original pitch for Walking Dead stated that it was a series that would follow the main character throughout. Only the cancellation of the series can kill Rick.

Rick was originally supposed to be killed by Shane (on the sly) in the first major arc. The guy with the moustache, who got bitten on the arm and left on the outskirts of the city to "rejoin" his family was going to be the hero.

I honestly have no idea whether he's planning to kill Rick or not ... which is great, really! This is one of the few comics where, if your favourite character dies, there is no way he's coming back / revealed as a Skrull / resurrected by Parallax / whatever.

According to his website, original artist Tony Moore is returning to the book for another six-issue arc ... very cool.

The I read on his msg board:

yeah, it was all a ruse.
i apologize for yanking everyone's chain, and for being such a cruel bastard.

i love you all,

:banghead:

BTW, has anyone read #48 yet? Wow...

Oh, My god. What an ending. NO one was safe. no one.

Yeah, Kirkman really cleared the deck by executing 90% of the characters. Bummer that Michonne survived and Hershel didn't though. It's great that Rick lived despite Kirkman leading everyone to believe that he was going to kill him off.

Even though I thought the Governor and Woodbury were too Mad Max-ish for The Walking Dead, this story-arc was a good way to push the series in a new direction and trim the old cast to make way for the new.

He ended that arc firmly. none of the combatants that entered the prison survived once they ran out of ammo. I doubt woodbury itself can hang on much longer as a result of the mass population depletion. nobody wins.
