Any issues where this happened? I always wondered who would win between them.

toe to toe i'd give it to the thing if it were just punches but ironman being able to fly plus all his weapons.ironman.all he'd have to do is stay out of bens reach and hit him with distance weapons.

[OT]You may be underestimating Mr. Grimm, Mr. Dad1.  Tony Stark may be a technological genius, but Ben Grimm has military, pilot, and wrestling experience.  I wager he would know exactly when to hit Mr. Stark with, say, a sod of turf or scrap of macadam that lay ready to hand or when to take cover and use the Iron Man's thrust against him.  The Thing is not about "just punches"; there is an entire martial arts philosophy succinctly expressed by "It's clobberin' time!"[/OT]

With that said, I have no recollection of the two trading blows in the comics, Captain.

i agree with what you say about mr.grimm and his more than muscle abilities but stark also has radar, and other defence systems for flying objects.i like the thing more than ironman but it would be a tough call.

I give Thing round one and Ironman round two. Why? he would probably make a ThingBuster suit to be safe! With no idea who'd win the tiebreaker I am afraid.  I kid I'd imagine he could just use the HulkBuster with a change up here and there versus thing be funny if he made his own specialized suit to fight him though.

After all he made a Thorbuster suit once though that got written out of existence or something strange like that a while back with the Ragnarok stuff going down.

Or maybe I just think it would probably make a better story that way, who knows.

I dunno. Benjy has muy experience in going at armored guys - Doctor Doom ring a bell, anybody? And we all know that ol blue eyes is the toughest bar none in the MU.  So I've gotta go with Mr. Grimm.

There is also the one point that in order to REALLY defeat The Thing, you have to kill him.

It would be a fight, that's for sure. In FF 25-26 Ben was too busy with The Hulk to worry about Iron Man.

Well, Iron Man is pretty über. I don't think he is on the same level as Mr. Grimm, but Stark is a pretty good fighter himself. If they were to trade blows on the ground, Thing would probably have the advantage 'coz of his superior strength and durability, but by no means it would be an easy fight even under those conditions. If Iron Man just flies 'round blastin' The Thing, then I'd give it to Iron Man. He can cloak himself and is a really quick flyer. It would be quite a feat for The Thing to knock him out of the sky.

Previsionary

everyone seems to be just thinking about ironman in general while forgetting that current ironman is quite a bit different than his previous incarnations with that dumb extremis armor. Anyway, if spider-man can beat iron man just by being mad, then Thing should be able to as well...depending on the writer.

daglob

Previsionary, you have nailed it exactly.

thalaw2

I always comes down the the writer...doesn't it?

All good points, but you have to take into consideration that spider-man can jump around a LOT better than Ben and really can't be hit by repulsar rays unless he actually LETS it happen. But I think if Ben went toe to toe with Iron Man he would definately win, mainly due to the fact (as previously mentioned)Spidey did & if I recall correctly, Ben is at least 1 or 2 power levels OVER Spidey in terms of raw strength. Not snubbing Spidey; because of his agility, speed & strength he can pretty much take down almost ANY opponent.

Like a Herald of Galactus, maybe?
