I went to frworld and followed the directions and I could not get any new voices to show up in FFX 3.3.  Is there a better tutorial with more specific directions?  I am using vista

So nobody knows how to add voice packs to FFX 3.3  :(

Step by step, here is what I have done:
1. install  :ffvstr: ,install mod tools, install ezfx 6.0 and install ffx 3.3 all in their default directories.

2. put mp3 files in "C:\Program Files\Irrational Games\Freedom Force vs The 3rd Reich\Data\Sounds\Speech"

3. edited the speech txt file in the "C:\Program Files\Irrational Games\Freedom Force vs The 3rd Reich\ffx3\Lang\English" folder

4. In FFEdit/characters I picked Alchemiss, hit copy, then renamed to cable, put in voice id CA, uncheck campaign only, hit save

5. Went to templates, selected Alchemiss, renamed to cable, saved.

6. In options, I left the input directory blank and the output directory "C:\Program Files\Irrational Games\Freedom Force vs The 3rd Reich\ffx3\Lang\English" and generated language files.

7. I wait until ffedit finishes, load up FFX, check for the voice, and nothing appears.

Can anyone see what I am doing wrong?  I can install the voice pack in  :ffvstr: but not in FFX.  Using vista.

Maybe, in FFEdit, make the Primary Path point towards the ffx3 folder, instead of the Data folder?

That has solved some of my problems in dealing with FFEdit.

Thanks for the help.  I have made some progress, now I am able to pick the voice in the game but I there is no sound.  I am pretty sure I put the sound files in the right folder (mentioned above).  Are there any possible remedies for this situation?

Hi Threshold,

I'll try to help, since I was able to get one of my new VPs to work in ffx3.

Make sure all of your speech lines are correct, just in case.  you also have to copy your sounds folder to the ffx3 folder...If you didn't do this, it will not work.  You're pointing the Editor to the ffx3 folder and there is no sounds folder there.

Did you select the correct NIF file for Cable?  I made my template first, I don't know if it matters.

I'm using Vista too, of course.  My character's voice works, though.  I also had to redirect the Editor to my ffx3 folder, instead of the game's Data folder.  My only advice is to try it again.

I recently acquired a new laptop with Vista and I am having the exact same issue: I can see the list of voices but I cannot hear them.

That occurred using the VPMax.

Vista is very... odd.. when it comes to  :ffvstr:

Provide the details, bud. What version of vista are ya using, where are you installing, do you hear the other voices, etc. I might have to take a look at this just to make sure it's not a vista issue.

I've been here long enough to know I should have included that info. ;)

I am running Vista Home Premium (32-bit)

What I did, which is what I did when I had XP, is take all the sound files from the VPMAX files (all of them), and place them in these two pathfiles:

Freedom Force vs The 3rd Reich\Data\Sounds\speech\English
Freedom Force vs The 3rd Reich\ffx3\Sounds\speech\English (this one I did, just in case)

I then merged the object.dat and character.dat files FROM the latest VPMax folder (1.5), and TO the ffx3 folder files.

I can hear the game's default voices, like Alchemiss and Thug, but I can't hear any custom ones. However, I can see them the full list of custom voices.

I did this exact process in XP and it worked. (I didn't have to send the sound files to my ffx3 folder, though...I just did that to experiment.)

I'm using Vista Home Premium too and I got my custom voices to work...I have no idea why you're having no luck.

I don't get what the problem is either. If I figure it out, I'll update this thread.

(By the way, I absolutely love your new maps! Can't wait to d/l them.)

Thank you...I hope you can get your VPs to work.  Did you move the Sounds folder to your FFX3 folder?  That was the only way it would work for me.

I just want to give a heads up that I was able to fix this problem by updating and installing my drivers.
